Today’s expression and dialog: to give someone the benefit of the doubt Where’s Mark? He’s late. He said he got a flat tire. And you believed him. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. I really do NOT like when people PROMISE to do something for me and then they don't do it AND LIE! Not doing a promise, that can happen. But just tell me the truth. You forgot OR you were busy OR you didn't want to OR you didn't know how...but don't lie to me. Don't say, "My um...my grandmother was ill and I had to take care of her because she was really sick and I love my grandmother...BLAH BLAH BLAH..."However, you know, sometimes that "lie" is actually TRUE! So...sometimes we need to "trust" people. Today’s expression and dialog: grab a nap Is there anything else you need? No, nothing. Thanks. Okay. I’m gonna go grab a nap. Sleep well^^ I usually go to be very late--2 or 3 am. And I do my best to wake up by 8 am. But, after I eat lunch...I am SO tired. So, I use Today's Expression!! By the way, right now I am ON THE ROAD! I am driving to Chicago. Today’s expression and dialog: to sugarcoat SMT So, how’d you like my poem? Well…it was nice. Come on! Don’t sugarcoat it! Tell me. Um… Don’t quit your day job. So, a little girl was sitting next to me at the coffee shop yesterday. She was about 4. She was drawing a picture. While she was drawing, she kept looking at me. After a few minutes, she said, "Here!" and she gave me her picture. I had NO IDEA what she made. I thought it was a monster or maybe a dog... Then she told me, "It's you! Do you like it?" I told her, "This is the WORST drawing I have ever seen. You are a terrible artist." OF COURSE I DIDN'T SAY THAT! I said, "Oh, wow! I really love my hair! Thank you!!" And she was very happy. Actually, I did like the hair she drew. It was a lot of hair! But did I lie to her? Today’s expression and dialog: a rat’s nest I have to go to Eduardo’s today. You don’t sound too excited. No, his place is a rat’s nest. Yuck~ It can’t be that bad! Right now I am getting ready to MOVE to Chicago! So, my house is a disaster! I've got books and clothes and boxes EVERYWHERE. If a rat came into my home, it might leave because it is TOO dirty!!! But...to be honest, if you look at my desk, it is almost ALWAYS very messy~ If you live in a messy house or have a messy room or desk...maybe your car is really messy inside--then you need today's expression!
