While we start by navigating some of the responses, the conversation quickly turns to what we think about terms like RELIGION and MORALITY. The accusation that The Sound of Freedom is a religious thriller tells more about the accuser than the film when we look at what that implies. But when a population raises its awareness to a horrible evil, it does not necessarily translate into an equivalent response, instead creating a whiplash effect from moral outrage to moral outrage, ultimately resulting in a state of demoralization. For those ingrained in both the Culture War and the Firearms Community, it may not come as a surprise, as both entered the lexicon and the equipment room of many of us as the same time. As individuals like Jordan Peterson or Jack Donovan wrote and spoke about resentment, many of those participating in Gun Culture were just "getting into" Night Vision. And here we are with the question: should you train with Night Vision? Or, does anybody really need to train with it. After putting aside the generally presented bad arguments, we dig a little deeper into the question. Which unveils that much of this type of conversation is rooted, not in imperatives or objectives, but resentment. Where it's the oppressors and the oppressed, the free and the serfs, the government and the people, or a complex caste system, these social structures are most often deemed immoral, incorrect, or manipulative. Yet, when it comes to people, while we may come to believe that all people are created equal, such an idea, absent a Metaphysic with a Creator, doesn't appear obvious: we are not all born in the same economic status, geographical location, or timeline. We have different proclivities, preferences, and traditions. When we try to achieve peace through the abolition of meaning, the outcome is not a peace worth living. Multiculturalism, as it is presented in our contemporary world, offers a deal of this type: it tempts with a freedom from conventions, without disclosing the cost: meaning. Have you not heard it cried from the rooftops: "Can't we just get along." Somehow the voice of one that poses to be begging for acceptance turns out to be the one bearing the sword enforcing uniformity. It's not that we don't want peace. Talk Back to MeLike stolen valor, Gun Culture takes misplaced generalizations seriously, even personally, when people representing our ideals in the public forum end up painting the community in a bad light.
