It’s our final episode of the year, so we are pretty much stumbling towards the finish line, you’ll find Em and Michael connecting up from their homes as Em recovers from Covid. We begin by referencing the fact that the second series of Michael’s ABC-TV series ‘The Newsreader’ has scooped a MASSIVE 15 AACTA Award nominations for next year's ceremony. Then it’s onto Em and Michael’s experience watching ‘Saltburn’, the black comedy starring Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant, that’s been labelled “deeply disturbing” and has left a lot of people trying to remember what their life was like before seeing it. They weren’t as impressed or disturbed, but apparently the visuals are worth the effort. Finally, Em has been doing home haircuts on Elio and she’s also discovered the joys of a salt float. Not in a self described “death mermaid shells”, more a small pool in a private room scenario, and let’s just say it was LIFE. CHANGING. Shoe’s loosened & Dua Lipa t-shirt on, we begin this episode with 2 things that have annoyed Em and both are tied to lazy journalism and click baiting. The first involves former Superman actor Dean Cain, the second, the creepy reporting of the recent AFLW Best and Fairest 2023 Awards. After that it’s props and a ‘Good For Her’ Award for Dolly Parton’s choice of a Dallas Cheerleaders outfit for her NFL Halftime Thanksgiving performance. Then we get to witness Micheal squirm as we delve into the reviews for Baz Luhrman’s TV series ‘Faraway Downs’, a reworking of the ‘Australia’ movie, now streaming on Disney+. The highlight, Michael being forced to review it and arriving at it being Hugh Jackman’s hottest moment on screen and a bunch of other equally beige and non committal observations. There is much pressing of the RuPaul Shade button. Finally, we move onto Barbra Streisand’s tell all ‘My Name Is Barbra’, Michael has finished it and is ready to offer up his final thoughts. Naturally Michael is in devour it mode, Em is more about finding her favourite ‘shared on social media’ highlights from Barbra’s media tour promoting it. After extensively reviewing all we’ve heard so far, we need to discuss Michael’s suggestion that he and Em need to do Glastonbury if Madonna ever headlines, Em has lots of thoughts on the likelihood of that ever happening. Finally the results of the ADHD Inquiry have been released and while Em was initially excited, she’s since found a number of reasons not to be, we’ll breakdown that all down.
