Nodes of Design#22: Data visualization by Manuel Lima

There's a lot of talk in the data visualization, We thought it might be helpful to speak with someone who is leading voice on information visualization, and so we were thrilled to get a chance to talk with Manuel Lima, Who is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, named "one of the 50 most creative and influential minds" by Creativity magazine, Manuel Lima is the founder of VisualComplexity.com, Senior UX Manager at Google, and a regular teacher of data visualization at Parsons School of Design.   He has over fifteen years of experience designing digital experiences and leading product teams at companies like Google, Codecademy, Microsoft, Nokia, R/GA, Kontrapunkt, and the Moving Image Museum. He had has spoken at 80+ conferences, universities and festivals across four continents, including TED, Lift, OFFF, Eyeo, Visualized, Ars Electronica, Harvard, MIT, Yale, Royal College of Art and many more.  In this episode, I had a chat with Manuel on uncovering the true meaning of Data Visualization and understanding its importance. He also shared insights on how one can start into Data Visualization with the help of few analogies. Nodes of Design#21: Designing for Enterprise by Amit Patil

Amit Patil has been a UX professional for the last 13 years. Currently, he manages a team of designers around workplace intelligence in Microsoft. Previously he has worked for companies like Honeywell Aerospace, IBM and multiple startups. He is an alumnus of NID Gandhinagar and has also been an engineer early in his career. He is also a visiting faculty at NID Bangalore and a member of the studies at MIT Design, Pune. While trying his hand at publishing a few patents and papers, his interest lies in applying research within the industry.  Amit describes himself as a poet at heart, a techie by the brain, a designer by life.   In this episode, Amit shares his insights on designing for enterprises and how different is it from designing for B2C. Nodes of Design#19: Agnostic Approach to Innovation by Saurabh Srivastava

Saurabh Srivastava is a seasoned User-Centered Innovation Manager, Design Strategist and Mixed Method Researcher with over ten years of experience. Over the length of his professional career, He has played a vital role in over 15 user-centred innovation technologies, authored 40+ peer-reviewed research publications and holds 15+ filed/granted Patents. Saurabh presently works as Lead Researcher for Google Pay, focussing on Growth and Monetization. He was responsible for Growth and Partnerships Research in an earlier project. Before Google, he worked as a Senior Scientist and Research Manager in Conduent Labs India and HCI research in IBM Research. He has also been named "Innovators under 35" (MIT TR 35 under 35) by MIT Tech Review for 2015.  In this episode, Saurabh shared his journey into design, sharing his experiences working for many research labs. Maitreyee Kalaskar is an independent designer and illustrator. She belives illustration is not just decorative, but it is the best tool for explaining your ideas visually. She also conducts talks and workshops to evangelise the design and the business side of design across India. We’ve spoken to many design leaders throughout Nodes of Design, but this episode is the first chance we’ve had to talk with someone who comes from the research and innovation side of design.
