Do We Really Want To Go Back To Normal?

I hate the term new normal. But I think as it relates to how we want to live and work post Covid we need to define a new way of life. Yes, I want to go back to normal, in the sense that I want to be able to do all the things that we could do before Covid. But within that I want to define a new normal, one in which I’m not perpetually on the edge of burn out, where I have time to enjoy the things that I have worked so hard for.  If you looked at your old life, what parts do you want to leave in the past? In your new normal what parts can and should look different from your previously accepted normal way of life?. Drink of the day: IT’S PORCH POUNDER TIME! Why You're Sleeping Like Shit with Abby DesJardien

We spend about a third of our lives asleep. We all know that sleep is essential, it’s as important to our bodies as food, water and exercise, and is vital for maintaining good mental and physical health. So why aren’t we prioritizing sleep in our schedules, and why do we continually put up with getting a shitty night’s sleep.Well that’s all about to change, because today I am joined by sleep evangelist Abby DesJardien to tell us all how we can all start getting a better night sleep. We discuss sleep apnea, sleep medicine, stress dreams, night terrors, and so much more - oh yeah, and we also discuss why the bedroom should be reserved for just two things. Drink of the day: Chamomile Lavender Hot Toddy https://tasty.co/recipe/relaxation-chamomile-lavender-hot-toddyIf you liked what you heard today, please leave a review and subscribe to the podcast. Do You Have Kids? Why Not?

In the U.S. and other industrialized countries around the world, the number of women who postpone having kids, or who have decided to not have children is on the rise. In the U.S. in 2014, almost half of all women between the ages of 18 and 39 had no children. This figure is the highest percentage since the Census Bureau started measuring it in 1976. And yet, “do you have kids” is a question that I get over and over again in business meetings and at networking events and frankly I’m sick of answering it. We need to normalize women deciding to not have kids. We also need more fictional role models living fulfilling lives without kids. Today's women are turning over tables and upending what is expected of them - and everyone else needs to catch up. Not every storyline needs to end with and baby makes three in order for it to be happily ever after.Drink of the day: The Oak LillyThis episode is sponsored by Nickerson…… a full-service branding, marketing, and PR and communications agency with team members in Boston, LA, Miami, and NYC. https://nickersoncos.com/If you liked what you heard today, please leave a review and subscribe to the podcast. Introverts, Extroverts & Ambiverts.....Oh My

When we think about describing our personalities most people will characterize themselves as either introvert or an extrovert, and most people think that you have to be either or, but research has shown that that’s not really the case, most of us fall somewhere in the middle. Ambivert, first recorded in 1927, is based on Latin elements: the prefix ambi– “on both sides, around” and the suffix –vert, extracted from the verb vertere “to turn” so literally meaning “turned both ways,” An ambivert is someone who falls in the middle of the introvert/extrovert continuum. Listen in to understand where Introverts and Extroverts get their energy from and why Ambiverts are blowing the competition away when it comes to sales! We also learn a little bit about how your wine of choice may be a predictor of your personality type! Mars vs Venus: How Men Network Better Than Women

In 1992 the book Men are From Mars Women are from Venus was published, it quickly became a best seller and it’s title became a catch phrase to describe why there is a fundamental language barrier between the sexes - because we hail from different planets. And It’s a load of horse shit.  In fact, it’s been scientifically proven that men and women communicate in almost exactly the same way, with studies showing that the difference between the way men and women communicate amounts to one tenth of one standard deviation, which is statistician speak for negligible - as in too small to measure, literally no difference. These perceived differences from books like Mars/Venus have led us to network in completely different ways from each other. And men - you are doing it better than women in a number of different ways. Listen in to better understand the 7 ways that men are networking better than women.  The Cocktail of the Week with golf season right around the corner is the John Daly! Bring on the 19th hole shenanigans. Ingredients ●  1.5 oz vodka●  2 oz iced tea●  2 oz lemonade Fill a large highball glass with ice, add vodka, tea, and lemonade, gently stir, garnish with a lemon slice. Discovering Your Leadership Style with Sarah Schneider

When trying to decide who you are as a leader are you constantly tumbling through mental gymnastics or expending way too much energy sanitizing your personality in order to fit into some pre prescribed definition of what a leader should sound like? Can you be yourself and still be a badass inspiring leader? In this episode, I interview Sarah Schneider, an executive coach, leadership trainer, and CEO of the leadership coaching firm Sarah Schieder & Company. Sarah joins me today to help us understand the sense of freedom that comes with choosing your own version of leadership, having the impact you want with your leadership, and being your own damn self while you do it.Many people hesitate to call themselves an expert or a leader. What they don’t realize is all the mental gymnastics are draining and completely unnecessary. Those things are compromising the energy you could be spending on things that will actually make you a great leader; this includes upskilling yourself, networking, and building healthy relationships. When you start calling yourself a leader, you begin to head closer to becoming one. Within our conversation Sarah discusses how vulnerability and intimacy are the keys to building healthy teams. We also discuss why being able to trust your team, especially now that we are working remotely is pivotal for business success. We need diversity in leadership. We need more people from all backgrounds to discover their leadership style. To find your leadership style: ●  Define who you are as a leader.●  Trust yourself and your expertise.●  Give yourself the ability to see how things are going around you.●  Have a team of advisors to learn from- keep growing.●  Know that the world is better when we have different types of leaders.●  Determine what it would look like if you gave 10 percent more to your gaps. What does 10 percent more of your personality, honesty, focus look like?●  Bring your true self to leadership. The Cocktail of the Week is the Zoomtini cocktail from the Happy Hour at Home cocktail book that was gifted to me by my friend Candice. It is a low alcohol beverage that gets you through that last Zoom meeting of the day (or the first if you ask me) ready. Ingredients ●  1 oz sweet vermouth●  1oz gin ●  4 oz seltzer ●  3 luxardo cherries Add ice, vermouth, gin, and bitters to a glass, fill with seltzer, and garnish with the cherries. (PS. While you are sipping on this, they suggest you tune into "Who’s Zoomin Who" by Aretha Franklin.)
