Ep. 8: Networking

In this episode, I talk about one of the most important topics for life in general: Networking. I don't care who you are or what you do, you need to be able to talk to people and network to build relationships for your career. Not only do I talk about networking though, I talk about how to network and turn some of your network into potential mentors. I can't stress to college students how important this is! As a student, no one will say no to you. Ask someone to lunch or a cup of coffee. Find people you are genuinely interested in getting to know and seek them out, most of the time they aren't going to say no. In this episode I cover my 5 tips for networking: What's in it for them, Receive only when needed, Stay top of mind, Be a trusted advisor, and Don't take more than you need. I will elaborate more on these in the episode so be sure to listen all the way to the end! Please remember to leave a review and subscribe to the podcast as well! Ep. 7: The Shotgun vs. Sniper Approach

In this episode, I cover one of my favorite philosophies when it comes to searching for your dream job: Shotgun vs. Sniper approach. You might be able to tell just by the name what I mean by this, but it is one of the most important things to keep in mind when searching for a job. Rather than sending in the same resume or application for 100 jobs, you could be much more successful by focusing on a couple jobs that you aligned with and could tailor your resume and application towards each of those jobs. To learn more about my sniper vs. shotgun approach listen to the full episode. Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/masteringcollegetocareer/message

If vacation time is important to you, be sure to listen to this episode to find out the truth about PTO in the real world. Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/masteringcollegetocareer/message

Ep. 5: Jessica's Story

In this episode, I sit down with the most beautiful guest I'll ever have on the show, my wife! Throughout this content, I will compare both of our journey's through college. Jess was the perfect student in high school! She got great grades, was involved in extracurriculars and knew exactly what she needed to do to get into her dream college. She continued her grades through college and got involved in a few organizations, but didn't network or have a plan for after college. She thought like many college students, get good grades and work hard and a good job will come. Unfortunately, that is not the case in today's world with such a competitive environment and she ended up taking the first job offer she got. Luckily, she is in a much better position now, but it would've been even better if she started where she is now! Listen to this episode to hear more about Jess's story and how you can avoid the mistakes she made while she was in college. Make sure to leave a review if you enjoyed this episode! Ep. 4: My Story

As you'll hear in this episode, much of what I know today are things I had to figure out for myself. I was fortunate to be raised by a hard working mother who gave me the work ethic I have today. I didn't have all the answers and that's why I do this! I want to help those of you that were in the same position I was when I was in college. I hope you all gain value from this episode and please let me know if I can ever help! Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/masteringcollegetocareer/message
