#14 - Abdullah Zeinab - Ultra Endurance Cycling, Psychological Management, Process, Reflection
On the show today is Abdullah Zeinab. Abdullah, as of late has cut his teeth in the ultra endurance cycling world. Winning the Indian Pacific Wheel Race 5,450km in 14 days and Trans-America Bike Race 6,800km in 16 days 9 hours 56 minutes, which stands as a record. Both of these were his first attempts at each of the races. Then after these endeavours he went on to total 904km in 24hrs on his second attempt at the 24hr time trial. Outside of ultra endurance Abdullah is a man well beyond his years in wisdom. He shares a ton of great insights within this podcast. Also, check out his documentary on the Indian Pacific Wheel Race, which is an amazing documentary that really is unique in it's cinematography and display of human endurance. Today on the show is Doctor Philip Skiba. You may recognize Dr. Skiba from the famous Nike Breaking 2 documentary, where he, and a few other selected scientists worked with a group of elite runners to break the two hour marathon barrier. Dr. Skiba is a board certified physician in family medicine and sports medicine. Also, he has a Phd in exercise physiology from the Jones Lab in University of Exeter, and has published many great papers in the field. He holds the role as team physician for the University of Illinois and the physician to many other professional, university, and high school athletes. On top of that he has trained some of the most elite elite endurance athletes in the world.
