3202 Conquer Your Cravings
Are you tired of feeling like your health is out of your control, especially after Halloween? Discover how to conquer your cravings and turn eating back into a pleasurable experience. If you can turn eating into a pleasurable experience, that gives a "happy meal" a totally different meaning. Food is meant to nourish and energize our bodies, but it's also meant to be enjoyed with family and friends. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Unfortunately, many of us eat out of habit or emotions, without considering the consequences. We either follow the patterns we were raised with or fall into a lifestyle that's convenient but not necessarily healthy. Our failures often stem from chemical reactions that hijack our biology, cells, hormones, and brain. It's like receiving conflicting signals. When our pleasure center is activated, we naturally crave more of what brings us pleasure. This leads us down a path of indulging in deliciousness, but at the expense of our health. But fear not, help is here: Curb your cravings! The K.I.S.S. ~ Curb your cravings! Remember the days when you had to psych yourself up for a test, muster the courage to ask someone to dance, or gather the confidence to ask for a raise? Tap into that same tenacity and curb your cravings! To break free from addiction, you must eliminate the source of addiction. If it comes from nature, enjoy it! If God made it, you can eat it. Cut out processed foods. Avoid gluten, dairy, and all forms of sugar and sweeteners (yes, even the artificial ones). Say goodbye to grains, starchy vegetables, beans, and opt for berries if you crave fruit. Be mindful of your beverage choices - steer clear of inflammatory options like coffee, alcohol, soda, and juices. Now, let's fill your plate with: Plenty of non-starchy vegetables, especially greens! Protein with every meal. Stay hydrated with lots of water! Include healthy fats like avocado, coconut oil, nut/seed oil, or nut butter. Here are some additional strategies to help curb your cravings. 1. If You Are Hungry, Eat a Healthy and Filling Meal It's important to distinguish between cravings and true hunger. Cravings are a result of your brain seeking the release of dopamine in the reward system, rather than a genuine need for energy. When you experience a craving while hungry, it can be incredibly challenging to resist. In fact, the combination of craving and hunger creates a strong drive that most people struggle to overcome. One effective trick is to immediately eat a healthy and satisfying meal when you feel a craving while hungry. Make sure your kitchen is stocked with nutritious snacks or pre-made meals for convenience. Protein-rich foods like meat, fish, and eggs are particularly beneficial for curbing hunger. Although real food may not seem as appealing as sugary junk food during a craving, building resilience and making healthy choices will pay off in the long run, especially if weight loss is your goal. 2. Take a Hot Shower For some people, taking a hot shower or bath can provide relief from sugar cravings. The water should be hot but not scalding, enough to make you feel slightly uncomfortable. Allow the water to run over your back and shoulders, gradually heating your body. Stay in the shower for at least 5-10 minutes. By the time you step out of the shower, you may experience a momentary "dazed" feeling, similar to the sensation after spending time in a sauna. At this point, your craving is likely to have subsided. 3. Go for a Brisk Walk Outside Another effective strategy is to go outside for a brisk walk. If you enjoy running, that can be even more beneficial. This approach serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it physically removes you from the proximity of the food you're craving. Secondly, the exercise triggers the release of endorphins, or "feel good" chemicals, in your brain, which can help turn off the craving. If going outside is not an option, try performing a few sets of demanding bodyweight exercises like jumping jacks, burpees, push-ups, or squats. The exertion and movement can distract your mind from the craving while releasing those beneficial endorphins. And let's not underestimate the power of a good night's sleep! 3198 Don't Step On The Heart
When we're little, we step on toes because we can. But when we are adults, we step on hearts. If you do not want to wound your spouse emotionally, don't step on the heart. This is true for parenting and marriage. When things overlap with such a distinguished definition, you better take a second look. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? However, the real pain arises when we 'step on each other's hearts,' causing emotional wounds. Many times, these wounds are unintentional, resulting from blind spots we have in our relationships. If you want to protect your spouse's heart, avoid the pitfalls that keep the ditch fresh. The K.I.S.S. ~ Avoid pitfalls that keep the ditch fresh! These are pitfalls that will create quicksand in your marriage and will grow over time. 1. Don't Rush to 'Fix' the Problem: Instead of immediately seeking solutions, take the time to truly listen and connect with your spouse. Show them love and support by prioritizing emotional validation before problem-solving. 2. Don't Make Plans Without Consulting Your Spouse: Every decision you make impacts your spouse. Show respect by considering their thoughts and opinions before finalizing plans. 3. Don't 'Check out' Other People: Engaging in distracted or flirtatious behavior with others, even if it remains verbal or non-verbal, undermines your spouse's confidence and trust. Reinforce your commitment by being mentally monogamous. 4. Don't 'Hide' Your Spouse Instead of Highlighting Them: Keeping your marriage separate from other aspects of your life may seem like protection, but it can actually hurt your spouse. Proudly display your commitment through public gestures of affection, wearing your wedding ring, and showcasing your spouse in all areas of your life. Remember, marriage is a journey that requires constant effort and growth. By recognizing and addressing these unintended behaviors, you can strengthen the bond with your spouse and create a lasting, fulfilling relationship. It's an intricate balance, but with a little self-reflection and a lot of empathy, you can navigate this delicate terrain successfully. As parents, we all want to prove that we know how to raise our children, which can push us to seek validation and approval from others. But you have to remember, this is your family! This is not your parent's family or your in-law's family. This is not your best friend's family. You have to consider what your child needs and then make the best decision for your family. Because deep down, you know that the happiness and well-being of your child should always be your primary concern. Let's look at some essential strategies to help you focus on your family's goals and values, while not letting the influences of others overshadow your parental instincts. The K.I.S.S. ~ Essential strategies to parent your way! 1. Define Your Family's Priorities Take the time to identify and clarify your family's goals and values. Sit down with your partner and discuss what is important in raising your child. Is it their moral development, academic achievements, or emotional well-being? Once you have defined your priorities, it becomes easier to filter out external opinions that do not align with what is best for your child. Establish Boundaries Boundaries play a crucial role in protecting your parenting decisions and maintaining healthy harmony. Respectfully communicate your boundaries to those around you, clarifying what you are comfortable with and what you are not. This helps create a supportive environment where your child's needs are placed at the forefront, and you can confidently make decisions without fearing judgment or criticism. Remember, setting boundaries is not about shutting others out; it is about safeguarding your child's well-being and ensuring the choices you make are rooted in love, compassion, and respect. 3. Seek Support from Like-Minded People Surrounding yourself with individuals who share similar parenting philosophies can be a valuable source of support and guidance. Seek out local parenting support groups, join online communities, or attend workshops specifically tailored to your style of parenting. Connecting with like-minded individuals allows you to exchange ideas, gain perspective, and find encouragement from others who understand the unique challenges of staying true to your beliefs while pleasing everyone. Now, your family (like grandparents, aunts, and uncles) can be that support too. But remember, it's your word and goals for your family that matter most. 3194 Unlearn What Does Not Serve You
In your life's journey, there comes a time when we must actively assess the behaviors and habits that are no longer serving us. Unlearn what does not serve you. Much of what we do in our day-to-day lives is done on autopilot, without conscious thought or consideration. This can lead us down a path we didn't intend to follow. And you don't have to go through your whole day without doing anything. When something comes up, address it right then and there. Now, this is not an easy task, but it is necessary if you want to create a life that aligns with your goals and aspirations. The K.I.S.S. ~ Unlearn what does not serve you! As you look at your days, it's important to determine what exactly is not serving you well. Is it a negative mindset that constantly holds you back from taking risks? Is it a habit of procrastination that hampers your productivity and growth? Or is it a cycle of self-doubt that prevents you from pursuing your dreams? Identifying these patterns is the first step towards unlearning them. Whatever it is, once you have recognized the behaviors and habits that do not serve you, it's time to replace them with ones that do. This is going to require you to make a conscious effort to rewire your neural pathways and create a new, positive mindset. Surround yourself with positive influences, whether through books, podcasts, or the company you keep. Seek out mentors or role models who embody the qualities you aspire to have. 3193 Love Your Enemies
Life is full of triumphs and victories. But what happens when someone comes along and tries to bring you down, putting you on the defensive? Love your enemies. It's so easy to celebrate those moments with joy and pride. Yet, it's also easy to let their negativity consume your thoughts and influence your behavior. Most people don't want to talk about the struggles that hit too close to home. And having to love your enemies is something most of use don't want to do. There is a better way though. If you want to love your enemies, then rise above their influence. The K.I.S.S. ~ Rise above their influence! 1. Embrace Empathy One of the most powerful tools we have in dealing with difficult people is empathy. Try to put yourself in their shoes rather than letting their actions or words bring you down. Attempt to understand their perspective, motivations, and struggles. By doing so, you may find compassion and empathy within yourself. Remember the words of the great Mahatma Gandhi, "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind." Choose understanding over retaliation. 2. Practice Forgiveness Forgiveness is never easy, especially when someone has intentionally hurt you. However, holding onto anger and resentment does more damage to your own well-being than to the person who harmed you. Bernhard Lang once said, "Anger cannot be overcome by anger. If someone is angry with you, and you show anger in return, the result is a disaster. Instead, show compassion. That is the way to end anger." Choose forgiveness over grudges and let go of the heavy burden you've been carrying. Not only will you find peace within yourself, but you may also inspire change in your enemies. 3. Lead by Example One of the most powerful ways to love your enemies is to rise above their negativity and show kindness and respect. Never underestimate the power of leading by example. Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount, said, "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." By responding to their hostility with love, you not only diffuse the situation but also demonstrate your strength and character. Your positive influence may encourage them to change their ways, and even if it doesn't, you can take pride in the fact that you stay true to your values. "Loving your enemies requires strength, but it also reveals your true character. Embrace empathy, practice forgiveness, and lead by example. You can rise above the negativity and change their hearts through love." Remember, my friend, it's not about letting your enemies define you; it's about defining yourself through love and compassion. Rise above their negativity and choose to embrace empathy, forgiveness, and leading by example. By doing so, you will not only free yourself from their influence, but also become a beacon of light, inspiring those around you to follow suit. "Be present. Be incredible.
