55: MYTH BUSTING! Is "Balance" A Real Thing
Ah, balance – it's something you hear a lot of about. So is it real or is it a fairy tale? If the mere mention of balance has you feeling conflicted, you're not alone. Do we let flow just happen or do we take the bull by the horns and make it happen? As an entrepreneur, you have people like Tim Ferriss who promote a four-hour workweek while spending your time on remote islands or anywhere else in the world you want to work. And then you have the die-hard, Gary Vaynerchuk's, who are all about the hustle and working harder and harder. Honestly, I agree with both sides of that coin because either way and at some point, you're going to feel guilty. It sets in when you're working hard and take a break or not working as hard. Or it happens when you've got your sleeves rolled up, working hard and people tell you you've gotten out of touch and they never see you. That's why I believe that daily or weekly balance is a myth – or at the very least, it's misleading. "Balance is something that's always changing and that's the key. You need to honor it and change with it." Lori and I like to talk about in terms of "seasons." I cannot stress the importance enough of honoring the season you're in. Don't let someone else dictate what you should be doing, what do you feel like doing? "The key is to trade 'should' with 'I feel like.'" Pay attention to what you're feeling like. Are you amped and ready to power through for an extended period of time, or do you feel like going to the beach and eating pizza? Whichever season it is, know that eventually you're going to want a change. If you're working hard and in a productive mode, you're eventually going to want a period of rest, travel or play. On the flip side, those beach days will soon lead to boredom and restlessness and you'll likely crave a productive season. While I'm no expert, my typical "doing" season is about 120 days max and my season of "rest" follows for about 30-45 days. Again, these are just MY seasons – yours may be very different as there's no magic formula. Balance is purely subjective – it all boils down to how YOU feel. So in an effort to help you find balance between your seasons, I challenge you to do two things: Listen to and honor your season. Ignore all social media and other influencers (yes, even me) who are in a different season than you. Trust me. It will only make you feel guilty, Once you figure out this balance, I know you'll feel better. And when we feel better, we can do even more amazing things in life and business. In This Episode You Will Learn: If balance is real or just a fairy tale How balance can be compared to the different seasons The difference between a productive and rest season Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

54: Changing The World, One Sex Toy at a Time with Polly Rodriguez
Now that I've got your attention, I'd like for you to meet Polly Rodriguez, Founder and CEO of Unbound, a sexual wellness company. Raised in the Midwest, this was not the path she saw herself taking early on in life, however after a cancer diagnosis in college and consequently a premature onset of menopause at the age of 21, she was compelled to dig when she found a lack of information in regard to it. What started as a small quest to more comfortably purchase sexual wellness products, Unbound has now grown into a wildly successful business (despite multiple barriers and misconceptions to break down) that empowers countless women to explore their sexuality. Don't miss this inspiring story that proves that anything is possible! -- Question Highlights: • What thoughts went through your head when you were diagnosed with cancer? • What is Unbound? • Where did you get the idea for it and how did it get started? • What was one of your biggest business challenges? • Was there any hesitation about starting a company in the sexual wellness field? Were you worried what your parents would think? • What does the landscape look like for women entrepreneurs? • What has to happen in order for it to be easier for women to have a successful start-up? • What initially drove you to give a portion of your business profits away? In This Episode You Will Learn: • How Polly came up with her business, Unbound • About the challenges of running a sexual wellness company • How Polly overcame the stigmas and misconceptions associated with sexual wellness products • Why giving away a portion of Unbound's profits boosts team morale • Why getting cancer is a huge part of Polly's success • Why it's so important to have a career that's more than just a job, that it has a purpose • And so much more… Polly's Thoughts… "Everything's a good experience if you have the right attitude." "If you can be really vulnerable and honest about what it is about human sexuality that interests you, you can just simmer in that awkward moment and why you're interested…and only good things can come from that." "I had to be brutally confident that it would work out." "Women, especially millennials, want a job that has a bigger meaning or purpose." "It's not just about selling, it's about something more meaningful." "Getting cancer was this weird gift that gave me permission to pursue a different path." "Something that feels selfish can actually be a charitable act in a lot of ways." -- From the start of her career, Unbound's CEO, Polly Rodriguez, has always been committed to elevating the customer experience from acceptable to exceptional. With a background in strategy consulting, she began at the firm, Deloitte, where she innovated new, thoughtful approaches to outdated customer tactics. Translating this skillset to an entirely different industry, Polly's next role was as Director of Growth for the YCombinator startup Grouper, which focused on the most flawed experience of all: dating in New York City (and subsequently globally). Yet, there was one interaction that continued to plague her — the process of shopping for, and finding, adequate sexual wellness products for the modern woman. It wasn't until Polly was diagnosed with cancer at age 21 and went through premature menopause as a result of the radiation treatment that she faced the disparaging barriers that women encounter when seeking to explore their own sexuality. Wanting to ameliorate the process of shopping for sex products — one that is often overwhelming and uncomfortable — she took her place as the CEO of Unbound, a sexual lifestyle company that specializes in subscription boxes, one-off thematic sets, and most recently an original collection. With the goal of helping women empower themselves through sexual exploration, Polly continues to innovate new and unprecedented approaches to a rapidly evolving industry. 53: One CHOICE That Will Make You MORE MONEY
My Two Cents today is about a simple, but powerful topic, and it's about the importance of becoming more open…waaaay more open. Currently, I know a lot of people who don't understand why they're not further ahead than they are in life. The common denominator? All are working in silos – ideas, groups of people, etc. They've gotten so used to the way things are (and should be in their minds) and they aren't open to anything different. I can say this because I've been this person. I've shut down so many different opportunities all because I had already made a decision as to what it would be like. But once I became more open to entrepreneurship, networking and new point of views, the new possibilities rolled in and became new realities. And as embarrassing as it is to admit, I'm also more open to new people that I may have judged in the past. In order to make this shift though I had to get over the fear first. "Our lack of openness comes from fear or fear of change." I know that change and everything that goes along with it can be uncomfortable, but try different things on for size and see what happens. I've had so many life-shifting experiences that forced me to be more open and at the same time created amazing opportunities – in both life and business. What if that one small (or big) leap changes your life, too? So if you're wishing for more abundance in your life, whether it's money, happiness, memories or experiences, know that it comes down to this one powerful choice. And now's as good a time as any to make it. "Your break is on the other side of choosing to be open." In This Episode You Will Learn: • Why becoming more open will create more abundance in your life • How trying something "on for size" can lead to huge life changes • Why busting through fears is a part of being more open Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

52: Teaching Teen Tycoons - A Russian-American Success Story with Olenka Cullinan
I heard today's guest, Olenka Cullinan, speak at an event recently and I just knew her story had to be shared with this audience. In a nutshell, this entrepreneurial powerhouse left Russia at age 19 with only $450 to her name (that she borrowed from her uncle) determined to seize the American dream and build anything she wanted. While growing up in an entrepreneurial household (her mom was a die-hard entrepreneur with her own company), she chose to pursue education instead in an effort to distance herself from the entrepreneurial world. Once in the U.S., she worked three jobs at one point to complete her education degree (and completed it without owing a cent!). While Olenka loved teaching people, she soon felt the pull to do more and leapt back into the entrepreneurial world while combining it with her training in education. She may have started off with humble beginnings, but she has since used the skills she knew she had and BUILT her own success. Olenka is determined to help others discover their passions and now teaches teenagers the skills to become successful entrepreneurs in her Rising Tycoons Academy. She truly believes in helping this country's youth turn their dreams into a dream life. I already know I'll be applying the principles she taught in this episode to my children down the road. Be sure to tune in to find out how you can too. -- Question Highlights: Why didn't you choose to be an entrepreneur right away when you came to the U.S.? What is the opportunity landscape here in the U.S. compared to where you came from? Do you believe there is an immigrant edge that gives you a leg up in terms of grit and hard work? What is Rising Tycoons? Where can adults do a better job in creating kid tycoons? What is a "passionista?" What is holding people back the most when it comes to pursuing their passionista journey? Do you see teens struggle with the same limiting beliefs that adults struggle with when it comes to earning money? How do you want your daughter to view money and success when she grows up? In This Episode You Will Learn: How Russian-born Olenka became an entrepreneur living the American dream How nothing is required outside of your own mindset and skills to build success Why opportunity is wide open for everyone Why it's so important to look at the actions that lead to results How Olenka teaches teens success skills in entrepreneurship, leadership and personal development Why parents must educate themselves on the world around their kids Why it's imperative that we stop preparing and start doing And so much more… Olenka's Thoughts… "If skills are learnable, then success is learnable, too." "Comfort and execution don't live on the same block." "You always choose. You can look at any circumstance in your life and choose what it becomes. Is it going to become an excuse or an opportunity? Because you can't have both at the same time." "We can only change the country by changing the next generation." "Stop preparing and start doing." "You have to practice the unsexy routine to get anywhere, but you have to give yourself small pieces of 'candy' along the way to remind yourself why you're doing that." "Kids have no issues with having dreams. They only have issues finding pathways for those dreams." "The moment you stop looking at money as something to move you forward and start looking at it as something that creates love in your community, family and in the world around you, is when you'll change your perspective." -- Olenka Cullinan is a CEO and Founder of Rising Tycoons, where she turns teens into mindful tycoons. Speaker and Success coach, Olenka has developed a "Backbone of Success"™ method that helps leaders become successful in life and the world. Olenka's work with teenagers from 21 countries, combined with humor and personal experiences led to her recent appearances at TEDx (twice) and made her into one of the nation's premier coaches. She has worked with startups, corporate leaders and some of the top youth organizations in the country: e.g. National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Association of Student Councils, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, TEDx, Job Corps, & Rotary Youth. 51: Connect the Dots, an EMPOWERMENT HACK
What would you say if I told you that your future is fully in your control with the help of one empowerment hack? Too good to be true? Possibly, but then you're not using the hack. ;) Today's Two Cents talks about accepting 99.9% responsibility for your current situation. Think about it… The dots (your choices) always connect back to you. Whether it's a moment of weakness where you said yes or no to something or you missed an appointment because your car broke down…it doesn't matter. Whatever the "event" was, you made a choice and that choice is why you're where you're at now. Look, I'm not trying to be an ass (maybe trying to offer a bit of tough love), but this is meant to be a wake-up call to empower yourself by owning your choices! For example, when I lost my job some years ago, I could have blamed the recession, the company etc. But I didn't. I blamed myself because I chose that profession and I could have saved more money so it wasn't such a scary thing. I owned where I was and that day I made the decision to make a career change. "Once you own that you have caused the exact spot you woke up in today, then you are able to determine the exact spot you'll be in tomorrow." It's not always easy to own your choices – it's actually downright uncomfortable. But trust me, when I tell you that it's also where the magic happens. "You're fully in control to make your life awesome…or to make it difficult. It's your choice." Start owning your choices TODAY and create the life YOU want. In This Episode You Will Learn: What empowerment hack can help you create the life you want Why it's important to own our own choices How to recognize who's responsible for your current situation Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

Imagine fleeing to the U.S. from communist Armenia at the age of 6 only to live with your family of five in one bedroom of a two-bedroom apartment. In This Episode You Will Learn: How Bedros experienced adversities as an immigrant and overcame them The difference between a poor state of mind and always being financially broke How Bedros is making peace with the scars of his childhood About different ways to raise kids to be grounded and giving humans Why self-confidence is the missing ingredient in many entrepreneurs and how to build it How to turn adversity into an advantage Why it's important to give without expectation And so much more… Bedros's Thoughts… "I've got the immigrant edge and the American dream." "The best high I can get is to serve." "We, as humans, have to be selfish in order to survive." "I can put my money to work to help the people I love." -- Before You Can Build an Empire, You Have to Walk Like an Emperor… Bedros Keuilian is the One Man Who Can Teach You. 49: If You REALLY Understood Abundance
These days we've been hearing a lot about having an abundance mindset. Many claim to have it, but they still don't seem to be "winning." My two cents? Many people don't truly understand the meaning of the word. "If you truly understand abundance, the excitement, not the stress, would keep you up at night." Many don't get that if they truly understood what abundance meant, 90% of their problems would potentially go away. And this mindset doesn't just apply to finances. It's also about leaving a bad relationship because you know there's a better one out there. It's leaving your soul-sucking job because you know you can and will level up. You have a hard-wired belief that even if you lose everything, you know how to get it back (and often more). "There is no ceiling other than the one we put on ourselves." Truly understanding abundance means that there's enough to go around for everyone. It means the more you give, the more you get back – in all ways. So why don't we understand? Did we miss Abundance 101? No! We've just been programmed to only see scarcity from a young age. Whether it be our parents (even though they were well intentioned) or the media (Buy NOW before it's gone!), we've been taught that everything goes away if we don't act now. So, I challenge YOU to understand abundance and put an end to that lack mentality. "I challenge you to ask why others keep winning while you follow the rules and can't seem to get ahead." Question what you've done up to this point, and be open to brand new mindsets if you want something different than you have today. In This Episode You Will Learn: Why a lack mindset can be linked to the absence of abundance How you are either attracting lack or abundance How the abundance mindset applies to relationships, money, career and more Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

47: The TRUTH About RESOURCEFULNESS
If you've been listening to my podcast, you know I want everyone to succeed. And what's more, I love it when a person's success is created by a no-excuses ability to succeed. Does that trait describe you? It's no coincidence that many of my podcast guests possess this same trait. Many have hit rock bottom only to become multi-millionaires later on. How were they able to do this? They turned the few assets they had into full-fledged resources. They were resourceful with what they had! "It's not how many resources you have, it's your resourcefulness that determines your ability to succeed." While some people are just "given" resources because they have the money to put behind it, I find that sometimes these are the people who end up failing. The stakes aren't as high and they're not as personally invested in the business or project. They're not concerned with the seemingly little things. My resourceful friends think a little differently – they see every seed (big or small) as something BIG. "Resourcefulness means you are able to find any little thing that other people might overlook and turn it into something big." Whether it's Googling, working two jobs and saving the money or getting to know the right people, you are fully equipped to create the level of resourcefulness that translates into massive success (however you define it). It's simply a matter of planting the seeds, nurturing them and watching them turn into your dreams. "When you fully grasp the idea that it's all about how resourceful you are instead of what resources you have, that's when you are fully empowered to know that your success is in your own hands." How resourceful are you? In This Episode You Will Learn: The difference between resources and resourcefulness Why having resources doesn't guarantee success How to turn your resourcefulness into resources Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.
