She explains how these thoughts formed out of negative experiences when our brains are still developing, and how we can follow three simple steps to overcoming and rewriting them so that we can develop the lives we truly want for ourselves.    Show Notes: -What are limiting beliefs (or as Lindsay calls them, “old/overused pathways”) and why does our brain form them?  -What do limiting beliefs stand in the way of and how do they affect both our physical realities and our subconscious minds? -Step one: Becoming aware of the belief. “Is my brain trying to protect me?” -An example of an overused pathway: perfectionism -The two things (or basics needs) our brains are instinctually trying to accomplish by forming limiting beliefs: survival and protection -Our limiting beliefs are usually formed in childhood, before our prefrontal cortexes are fully developed and before we can properly access proper reasoning and decision making; they are a survival response -We can find versions of our current limiting beliefs in our childhood selves.
