Owning Therapy with BetterHelp
Time to talk about therapy again. This is the third episode of Owning It The Anxiety Podcast in which I explore therapy, this time supported by Better Help Online Therapy (more information on that below). With the help of the wonderfully articulate Haesue Jo - a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the Bay Area, California, and Head of Clinical Operations at BetterHelp, we talk about the ways in which online therapy differs from in person therapy, what barriers we need to overcome to normalise therapy, what to look for in a therapist, how to know if it's working for you and SO much more. This is a really comprehensive dive into the world of therapy with lots of practical information. Follow me on Instagram at @OwningItpodcast for more. When anxiety comes after the trauma: Debbie's story
Sometimes we go through something that you think would bring a huge amount of anxiety down on top of us, but it doesn't hit us until we're out the other side. That's exactly what happened for Deborah Somorin. Here she shares her story - documented in her new book Believing In Me - about being taken into care at the age of 11, becoming homeless and pregnant and welcoming her baby boy when she was just 14 years of age. Despite the adversity she faced, Debbie went on to achieve incredible things and it wasn't until she was living a 'normal' life that anxiety eventually reared its head, along with imposter syndrome. Hear her compelling story on Owning It and read her book available now. Follow me on @OwningItPodcast for more. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/owningittheanxietypodcast. Parenting Anxiety
This episode of @owningitpodcast is specific to those of us struggling with anxiety as we parent our kids. Namely, it's about how to regulate yourself so that you can help to regulate your child when their emotions are so erratic (which they are, naturally, at such a young age). How to handle tantrums, meltdowns, hard days and irrational toddlers without being left reeling in stress and anxiety yourself. For this episode I am joined by world renowned self regulation expert Dr Ethan Kross, neuroscientist and psychologist and New York Times Bestselling Author of Chatter. He's also a parent so he just gets it. I hope you find it useful! Follow me on Instagram at the link above. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/owningittheanxietypodcast. Owning Your Boundaries
For this episode I am honing in on the world of boundaries. Here's the thing: boundary setting can give us anxiety in the first place, but living our lives devoid of boundaries can give us anxiety in the longterm which is what we don't want. I am joined here by 6-time New York Times Bestselling Author Melissa Urban, CEO of Whole 30 and now the author of The Book of Boundaries to talk about this unrecognised source of our collective anxiety, how to handle boundary push back, why a lack of boundaries gives rise to anxiety and why it's important that we also work on how we perceive other people's boundaries too. Relationship Anxiety
This week I am joined by host of Private Education podcast and sex and relationships expert Aisling Keenan. Our topic? Relationship anxiety. I get a whole lot of DMs with questions relating to relationship anxiety so I thought it was time I did a special episode covering some of the ways in which anxiety can show up in relationships and ask Aisling how one might best move through that. From recovering from a break up to worrying that you'll never meet a suitable partner, we try to cover a lot of ground here. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/owningittheanxietypodcast.
