Marriage is a type of Christ, and the church is vital to what God is doing today. In part 5, Duane Sheriff teaches why God created marriage and its purpose. Hosea 4:6 states that God's people are perishing for lack of knowledge. Many Christians, especially young people, struggle to explain what marriage is and understand its purpose.The second building block is work. Many people mistakenly think marriage will work out on its own, especially Christians who believe God put them together. Even if God led you together, you will face challenges and need to work on your marriage. The third building block is experience. Experience teaches valuable lessons and helps us grow.No success story exists without knowledge, work, and experience. Athletes, doctors, and mechanics all require these elements to succeed, and marriage is no different. There is hope even after a divorce. God can bring beauty from ashes if we repent. Jesus will restore our hearts, heal us, and prepare us for future relationships. God loves you and will heal any brokenness, making you whole so that you can experience the beauty of His holiness.

There are reasons to get married and reasons not to get married. In part 3 of this marriage series, Duane Sheriff teaches the reasons to consider before marriage. Genesis 2:18, God created marriage for companionship and partnership, saying, “It is not good that the man should be alone.” Marriage is a covenant and not merely a contract. Malachi 2:14 highlights the seriousness of this commitment, stating, “The Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she is your companion and your wife by covenant.” Believers who misuse or misunderstand this covenant can cause harm and damage not only to themselves but to others as well. If individuals are not ready to fully commit, it is better not to marry. Seek marital counseling and understand marriage before committing. It is essential to marry for the right reasons, as divorce can result in emotional and spiritual consequences.

In Genesis 2, God creates Eve from Adam, indicating that God designed male and female gender roles for the purpose of marriage. Brother Duane confronts contemporary cultural issues, such as gender confusion, maintaining that deviation from God's design leads to chaos and confusion. The roles of males and females in marriage reflect God's image, as stated in Genesis 1:27: "So God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them: male and female he created them." The church should embrace the truth of gender as defined by God's creation, encouraging individuals to recognize their identities as rooted in divine design.

At times, the church has remained silent on these issues, allowing society to redefine marriage according to its own standards rather than God's design. By understanding God's original intent for marriage, the church can speak truth and reclaim our role as stewards of this divine mystery.
