How Our Cells Communicate • X59
We will learn:
How all of life’s activity occurs because cells communicate.
How very different cells—bacteria and brain cells, blood cells and viruses—all speak the same language.
New discoveries on intelligence in nature.
I believe that over time, science will begin to prove spirituality.
The cool thing about science is that each new discovery is a possible foundation for a thousand other discoveries.
And these discoveries begin with a thought. A question. A desire to explore what this information could mean.
I think too often we wait for other people to tell us what’s real instead of engaging our imagination enough to ponder it ourselves.
So we end up building walls around our own mindsets with skepticism or blind obedience rather than seeking expansion and greater understanding.
Today we are opening our minds to new discoveries in science, and I’m going to challenge you to ponder what these things might mean... even if only for your own practice in contemplation.
Our guest today is Dr. Jon Lieff, nationally recognized neuropsychiatrist and foremost expert on cellular communication science.

How to Be a Long-Term Thinker in a Short-Term World with Dorie Clark
We will learn:
The real reasons we are all so busy.
How to identify the right goals and go after them strategically.
How to map out implementation by thinking in waves.
It’s not really a secret, we live in a short term world. Back in 2000 a study came out that we had about a 12 second attention span. By 2015 it had dropped to 8 seconds on average… shorter than that of a goldfish. A shorter attention span causes shallow information processing. Longer attention leads to better memory and sustained attention is always linked to deeper information processing. So much of the relentless pressure in our culture pushes us toward doing what’s easy, what’s guaranteed, or what looks glamorous in the moment. So how do we shift to doing small things over time to achieve our goals—and being willing to keep at them, even when they seem pointless, boring, or hard? And that’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is Dorie Clark, adjunct professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and author of multiple bestsellers.Links from the episode:

Disconnect with Your Smart Phone to Reconnect with Your Life with Joe Hollier • X58
We will learn:
How smartphones are designed to work against our happiness.
How to stay connected while disconnected.
The brain benefits of boredom.
Have you noticed your phone time taking away from other important moments in your life?
I’ve always been a tech person so I have a tendency to overuse my smartphone.
Recently I made some customizations to my smartphone and my phone use immediately dropped 80% which is awesome.
I shared my customizations on social -mindfully using my computer- and I got a bunch of DMs about it so I know a lot of you are suffering from a little tech addiction yourselves.
So today we’re going to learn how to live our lives a little less plugged in. Because maybe disconnecting from the online world is what we actually need to connect with the offline world.
Our guest is Joe Hollier, multi-disciplinary artist, entrepreneur and co-founder of the Light Phone, a phone designed to be used as little as possible.

Overcoming Resistance to Change and New Ideas with Loran Nordgren • 202
We will learn:
Why your best ideas often get rejected.
How to disarm the forces of resistance that act against change.
How to transform the very frictions that hold us back into catalysts for change.
Collectively, we have access to more resources than we’ve ever had, but we’re also less happy, more stressed, and fatter than we’ve ever been. So something, or some things, are just not working. The problem is, we might be sad, fat and stressed out, but we think we’re comfortable. The funny thing about the comfort zone is that it’s really just familiarity that creates the illusion of comfort. And when someone comes around with a new idea, we tense up and resist it because we just don’t want to pop our own comfort bubbles. So how do we break through the resistance? How do we get people to say yes to ideas that are fresh and new and awesome, but just not yet familiar? That’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is Loran Nordgren, teacher and researcher of the psychological forces that propel and prevent the adoption of new ideas. Links from the episode:

The Life-Changing Science of Detecting Bullshit with John Petrocelli • X57
We will learn:
The causes and consequences of bullshit.
How to spot the signs of bullshit.
How to make better decisions for yourself.
Nowadays, it’s so difficult to decipher what’s truth, and what’s just a load of crap spewed to make a profit.
Unfortunately most people don’t have time to research and wade through the mountains of available information and so they trust what they’re told and hope for the best.
However, there are benefits to a healthy bit of skepticism.
It’s important to know what the stakes are on either side so you can make an informed decision.
It’s hard to question our own beliefs, but it always helps me see the bigger picture, or at least understand people better, even if my beliefs stay the same at the end of it all.
So today we’re going to learn to detect bullshit so you can more effectively make informed decisions.
Our guest is Dr. John V. Petrocelli, author and experimental social psychologist who researches, writes, and speaks about the science of communication and decision making.

Outsmarting Uncertainty with Mark Valenziano • 201
We will learn:
How to direct your own inner movie to create new self beliefs.
Why relationships are a key to dealing with change.
How to build a new self-image by thinking of yourself as a brand.
If you are resisting the uncertainty, you’re not mastering it.The funny thing is, for the most part, certainty is an illusion. If it wasn’t, then “shit happens” wouldn’t be one of the most famous semi-motivational phrases of all time.No matter how much we plan for the future, something unexpected can always derail those plans. So if uncertainty is always looming, then why is it still so hard?Well, turns out, we’re actually hardwired to hate it. Studies show that uncertainty is even more stressful than knowing something bad is definitely going to happen. The good news is we can learn to live with uncertainty. And this is probably one of the most valuable skills we can learn because life is full of uncertainty. And prolonged stress is really damaging to our health, both physically and mentally. So that’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is Mark Valenziano, author and speaker who helps others develop resilience to deal with life’s hardest punches.Links from the episode:

How to Dictate Your Inner Experience with Craig Siegel • X56
We will learn:
How to tap into different parts of yourself to find strength.
The power of taking massive, aligned action.
How to take control of your inner experience to influence your outer experience.
Do you ever think that maybe we’re over complicating things. Maybe creating a life that we love waking up for is simply the choice to take action and do it.
If it’s that simple, then why isn’t it easier?
The problem is, most of us have created habits of thought that aren’t serving us. And yes, I said habits of thought. Our thoughts are actually just habits.
But because they’re in our minds using our voice, we think that they are us.
We think that that little voice telling us we may fail, or it’s too scary, or we don’t have what it takes to make that big thing happen… we think that voice is our inner guidance, trying to save us from pain.
But guess what… that thought isn’t you at all. It’s loud and repetitive because you’ve let it go unchecked for so long.
So how do we start to dictate our inner experience so that we empower ourselves to build a life that we love?
That’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is Craig Siegel, Mindset Coach and the Host of the podcast, The CLS Experience.

Claiming the Kingdom and Collective Ascension with Paul Selig • 200
We will learn:
How we created a world and separation if we are all of God.
How to release the fear of what the collective chooses and stop damning your neighbor.
How to put trust in divine will with the knowledge that all true needs are met in perfect ways.
Do you ever have moments where you get a wave of panic because the world is burning, evil is winning and it seems like it’s getting worse by the day?Yeah me too. I’m human. You’re not alone. It’s difficult to not let little sprouts of doubt creep in. What if this is all there really is? What if evil really is winning? These are the times that I lean into my spirituality the most. It’s helpful to me to feel that there is a higher power that’s making sure humanity doesn’t accidentally implode.Today’s guest Paul Selig, gives voice to that higher power by channeling text in front of a live audience, which is then transcribed with zero editing. He has dictated 10 books so far. His guides say we’ve already chosen to ascend. We are claiming the kingdom. What does that mean? What does it look like? Well apparently, the first steps look a little like the world is burning. But the next steps are up to us.The problem is, we can’t just visualize a new world, because the potential for what this earth can be is greater than anything we’ve ever known. So how do we hold our frequency in a vibration that we’ve never seen or felt or accessed? That’s what we’re talking about today.Links from the episode:

Aging with Purpose • X55
We will learn:
What it really means to live the good life.
How purpose changes from adulthood to elder hood.
How to move from self-absorbed soul searching to a life of meaning.
Getting old is weird. Collectively we treat it like a disease. And I get why, most people live lifestyles that inevitably lead to disease, so we assume correlation is causation.
It’s easy to fall into complacency, consumption, cynicism.
The harder route is the one we take responsibility for, with choice, curiosity, and courage.
But what’s really more difficult? The choice that takes more work now but leads to a fulfilling life? Or the one that takes no effort now but creates a life you’d rather not be living?
And how do we make a choice to experience aging with purpose?
That’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is David Shapiro, philosopher, educator, and writer whose work consistently explores matters of meaning, purpose, and equity.

The Healing Power of Essential Oils with Dr. Eric Zielinski • 199
We will learn:
How essential oils can help with everything from minor ailments to chronic disease
What to look for in essential oils and which labels are marketing scams
How to get started with your own home apothecary
It seems like the use for essential oils is never-ending, which can make a lot of people skeptical. But if you think about it, nature was our original pharmacy. Food is medicine. Plants are medicine. Even fresh air is medicine. Many people don’t realize that natural medicine is core to pharmacy. Of all the botanical extracts, essential oils are the most concentrated and potent. Because of the extraction process, essential oils can be 70 to 100 times stronger than the actual plant. And there are thousands of types of oils and combinations for different ailments or needs, everything from headaches to alzheiumers… from concentration to keeping bugs away. So how do we choose safe and effective essential oils? How do we use them properly? Why are some so much more expensive than others? That’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest today is Dr. Eric Zielinski, best-selling author, aromatherapist, public health researcher, and chiropractor, and founder of NaturalLivingFamily.com.Links from the episode:
