Orange Army, Verstappen vs Hamilton, Booing + 5 things to watch for - 2021 Dutch GP Preview
Could Lewis Hamilton score his 100th Formula 1 win in front of Max Verstappen's 'Orange Army' at Zandvoort? Will Zandvoort offer us good racing this Sunday? It's certain that the qualifying hour will be fun to watch - drivers finding the limit of their cars on a narrow, fast-flowing and banked circuit. P.S.: For all our Dutch listeners attending the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix, please refrain from booing Hamilton this weekend.😎 (The episode description follows below) For our global audiences, get 20% OFF at Manscaped + free shipping with promo code TRIMINSIDE at MANSCAPED.com! #ad #manscapedpod Subscribe to our newsletter! In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal preview the upcoming 2021 Dutch Grand Prix. A mix of Monaco, Hungary, Suzuka and maybe even Portimao - the duo is certain that Zandvoort's unique characteristics will make it stand out. The buzzword for this weekend's race? Tarzan, not the jungle boy, but the final banked corner of the circuit. After 4 weeks no racing (yes, Spa included), we're hoping that racing resumes at Zandvoort. And then of course, the title rivalry to resume as well. The W12 or RB16B, which car will be the faster package around Zandvoort? Also in this episode - the wildcard performances to look forward to - Lando Norris, George Russell and maybe even the Ferrari drivers? Also, watch out for the Safety Car(s) and Red Flags, we do think they'll make a few appearances this weekend. Tune in! Half Points For No Race - 2021 NOT Belgian GP Review
The Formula 1 teams-drivers had half points awarded for no race. So of course, you are now served a full Grand Prix length episode for no race. There are no team-driver performances to talk about - but Soumil and Kunal wonder if the FIA could have acted differently during the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix. Believe it or not, the alternate title for this episode was 'Michael Messy...'. Yes, we know that one man isn't to blame at all. It's free, informative, insightful and visually appealing. You can read more and sign up. In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, the duo discuss if 'money talks' was the reason why we had a four-hour long wait for two farcical laps under the Safety Car. Why could the race have not been postponed to Monday? Of course, not the best optics for the sport and rule book of Formula 1. But there is much to celebrate from the weekend of the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix for George Russell and Williams. Similarly, in the could've-would've-should've scenarios, maybe Lando Norris would've scored pole position and race win in this race. Sundaram 'F1 Stats Guru' Ramaswami shares some of the most-surprising stats from the race - yes, this race was a treat for stat lovers! And finally, this episode offers entertainment options for Formula 1 in case we have a similarly long delay next time around - a Formula 1 boy band, anyone? This one's a fun one, tune in! In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal preview the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix to be held at the mystic and historic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. After suffering from first lap mishaps in the last two races, Max Verstappen would be itching to have a clean race and take the battle to Lewis Hamilton. Yes, there are 12 races remaining in this championship fight, but the races will come and go at a faster rate in the second half of the season. Momentum will be key and that's the ONE thing that Verstappen would be eager to resume. And of course, there's Ferrari vs. Mclaren + the uber-competitive mid-field battle, Fernando Alonso's extension with Alpine and the announcement of the 'Overtake Award'. Frankly, given Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez's grid penalties, the chance for an outsider to score a podium in the Belgian Grand Prix is fairly high. Tune in! The start, opening lap, one-car restart, the 'what's actually happening in the race?' phase, Lewis Hamliton's undercuts-overtakes & then Fernando Alonso's brilliant defensive driving and team play. In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal re-live Esteban Ocon's win - something that we didn't see much of apart from a few onboard shots and the final celebrations. They also discuss - why did Hamilton not pit during the restart? Were teams-drivers permitted to discuss tyre changes during the restart? What if Carlos Sainz Jr. had pitted when Ferrari actually wanted him to pit? And of course, why could Sainz Jr. not pit despite knowing that Hamilton would pit? News of Sebastian Vettel's disqualification & Aston Martin Racing's appeal came through while recording this episode - so why exactly was Vettel disqualified? Why does the FIA require a fuel sample from all the competitors? There are several questions answered in this episode. And of course, Sundaram delivers his classic stats review. Tune in! Could 'Monaco without the walls', as the Hungaroring has been labeled over the years, bring Ferrari in the mix? Did Hamilton Get Carried Away? Was FIA Too Lenient? 2021 British GP Review
Boy, oh, boy! It finally happened - a coming together of title rivals, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton! Undeniably, one of the questions that's split the world of Formula 1 is - who was at fault? Was Verstappen too aggressive or was Hamilton too optimistic? Did Hamilton get carried away with the emotion of racing at home in front of the passionate British fans? But why can't we just classify it as a racing incident? Soumil and Kunal ponder further in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. Sundaram chips in with his awe-inducing post-race stats review. It's free, informative, insightful and visually appealing. You can read more and sign up. Frankly, we would've loved to move on after terming the Verstappen-Hamilton clash as a racing incident. But since the FIA found Hamilton guilty, were they too lenient with their penalty? Or are we just reacting to the outcome of the crash (VER had a heavy one that led to no points) and then the outcome of the penalty (HAM still won!)? Needless to say, but both drivers will battle smarter (or so we assume!) the next time the meet on-track & let's hope that happens for several seasons to come. And before we move on, a great race by Hamilton to overcome the penalty and still score a win. The VER-HAM incident showcased another very strong aspect of the sport - the teams lobbying the FIA to turn situations in their favour. Incredible behind-the-scenes radio exchanges between the FIA, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. Lest we forget, there were 18 other races too. This episodes reviews the 2021 British Grand Prix - Fernando Alonso shining on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Was Ferrari and Charles Leclerc's pace genuine? They led more laps of the race than Hamilton! Was heat the factor behind the slow pit-stops? Could Lando Norris have finished on the podium had it not been for a slow stop? What's with Valtteri Bottas' starts? And finally, when last did Sergio Perez make so many driver errors? Tune in!
