Construction Champions Podcast 42 Andrew Brown – Opportunity For $100 or More An Hour!
On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Andrew
Brown and Ron Nussbaum talk about the opportunities that are in the
construction industry right now. Whether you’re in school or working in the
industry right now, the next 5 years can completely change your life if you get
around the right people.
Andrew’s Bio
Andrew Brown is on a mission to tackle that and similar
misconceptions head-on. In 2002, Brown co-founded Toolfetch.com, an eCommerce-based
industrial distributor that caters to skilled trades. On LinkedIn, Brown is
arguably the distribution sector’s biggest champion for the skilled trades on
the strength of the short videos he frequently posts on there.
As for the inspiration behind Toolfetch and his greater love
for the skilled trades, Brown points to Sept. 11, 2001 as a life-changing day
for him as then a 23-year-old working on Wall Street in New York City.
Andrew Brown
“The planes had just hit the building, and I got this crazy
idea to call my friend in Rhode Island, and to go down there (Ground Zero) and
try to help,” Brown told me on the MDM Podcast. “I couldn’t just sit there. So
I convinced him to come in. A handful of days after, he comes in with a big
blue van truck with a big American flag on the back. He’s dressed as a
tradesperson. He’s got overalls and a hard hat for me. We find ourselves racing
down the West Side Highway going from checkpoint to checkpoint. We park the van
and, all of a sudden, we’re standing where World Trade Center where once stood.
The entire day, I was helping emergency workers and tradespeople find
survivors. I was watching the tradespeople on-site — who had no PPE on — doing
whatever it took to find survivors, They were running into unstable structures
and helping clear the path for emergency workers to find survivors. And after
that experience, I had a life-changing event, not only personally, but
professionally.”
Brown explained that he quit his Wall Street job a couple of
weeks later and spent the following months trying to find a way to give back to
the tradespeople he saw on that day at Ground Zero. So, he and his brother
co-founded Toolfetch in 2002 as an online tool and equipment reseller to
welders, carpenters, plumbers and other blue-collar trades around the world.
Today, the business’ catalog has over one million different products from
approximately 650 different vendors.
But beyond providing a resource for tradespeople to procure
tools and equipment from, Brown was compelled to be a voice for the industry.
“I see this as my way to connect with them,” he told me.
“I’ve been doing it on a consistent basis, speaking to them behind the scenes
around the country and listening to all their issues with the skills gap and
wages. I just felt like I needed to be a voice for the blue-collar skilled
trades. And that’s when I started putting out content and connecting with
others out there.”

night; for Chris this is the ability to serve others through the CCC by
assisting professionals to establish new relationships, uplifting them in their
careers, and improving their quality of life.

Construction Champions Podcast 38 Rob Baughman – The Impact Of Handing The Job Off Right
On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Rob
Baughman and Ron Nussbaum talk about handing the job off and the mindset it
takes to work on this every day. How do we pull others up around us or let
others pull us up?
Rob’s Bio
“Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit…” are
popular lyrics that sum up Rob Baughman’s beginnings in the early 1970s. The
oldest of four children, Rob learned his work ethic early, watching his dad
labor tirelessly as a handyman to support their family in the inner city. Rob
joined the workforce at a young age, delivering papers before dawn
everyday—sometimes in several feet of snow—striving to please his customers.
At age 19, Rob married his high school sweetheart and moved
to Tennessee where the couple raised four children before Taira contracted
breast cancer in 2010. Rob took care of his wife and his children while working
three jobs and going to school full-time to earn his business degree. Taira graduated to Heaven in 2013.
Drawing from his experience in construction, customer service
and sales, Rob became a project manager for a Nashville-area contracting firm
soon after marrying his new-found love, Joy. One high point of Rob’s career
thus far has been his work on HGTV. Rob worked on multiple episodes of Listed
Sisters, Property Brothers: Buying And Selling, as well as the Scott Brothers’
production, Making It Home (2021).

Construction Champions Podcast 37 Kolton Myers – Building Referrals Through Integrity and Relationships
On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Kolton
Myers and Ron Nussbaum talk about building a 7-figure business from referrals!
Kolton has mastered the action it takes and the follow-up needed to build high-level relationships with those in the industry and today he tells you what it
takes.
Kolton’s Bio
Born and raised in Arizona.
I had a difficult time through school. Not academically. I
was just a pissed off kid. I fought almost daily. How I was not kicked out of
school is beyond me. My mom dipped out when I was about 7 or 8. My step dad
adopted me. I say step dad but he was there since almost day one.
I pushed a-lot of friends away with my anger and hate. But I
learned from that and overcame all that BS.
Graduated high school in 2011.
In high school I worked at a car wash. Where shortly after
graduating I was promoted to site manager. I quickly became bored with the car
wash industry. I quit with no plan or back up job. I was hired on at a local
remodeling company. Quickly learned that I didn’t like hanging drywall. So I
put feelers out. My Aunts restoration company was seeking a helper.
So in June 2012 I was hired. About 6 months into the industry
I was thrown into a lead technician roll. Where I quickly had to learn the
industry and quickly built my skills of problem solving. I quickly found a
passion for the industry.
hard working by nature, I rose to the top of my aunts company
over the span of 10 years. October of 2021 some massive changes were up and
coming that I didn’t want to be apart of. I had an opportunity fall in my lap.
And that was to start my own restoration company. That’s where Diamondback
Disaster Services was born. My aunt new my plan but her now Ex husband did not
so as I planned my departure he found out what I was doing and rightfully let
me go on the spot in December.
He made it easy on me I wasn’t sure how I would have that
conversation. I truly do appreciate everything I learned from him and that he
introduced me to this amazing industry.
January 2022
Luckily I had a few months of months of planning under my
belt I had significantly reduced my personal overhead. Refinanced my house,
sold my Rzr, used funds from refinance to pay off truck and other debts and put
money in the bank.
A great Friend of mine Eric owner of Eco roofing solutions
gave me a sales job to help me out and give me something to do while I waited
for my non compete to expire.
June of 2022 we fully launched
June-December we did 650k in revenue!
2023 I plan on hitting 1.5million!
When I’m not taking care of clients and ensuring the highest
quality possible. I enjoy personal development, out door activities sports with
the kids, fishing, Off-roading, Pokémon battling and collecting with the kids,
and playing and collecting Magic The Gathering for me.

Construction Champions Podcast 36 Josh Huite – The Vison Must Start With Understanding YOU!
On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Josh Huite
and Ron Nussbaum talk about what the best version of yourself can really do for
your life and company. We unpack and travel down a road many will not address
when it comes to health and drinking in the construction industry.
Josh’s bio
I’ve been in the trades for 30 years now. During my formative
years as a tradesman, I was fortunate to have someone point me in the direction
that not only changed my life, but it also changed my business. The impact
those skills had, and still have, are just as valuable as the technical skills
I acquired over my career. They allowed the company and team to advance forward
in a saturated market where there was no standard. My drive and purpose now is
to share those skills, strategies and lessons to improve the standard,
perception and the appreciation of the men and women that build this country.
Coming to you as someone that has worked out of a toolbelt most of his life,
these principles I am sharing with you changed everything about me, my
experience as a technician, my influence as a LEADER and added tremendous value
to my clients.

At DiBara Masonry, we are proud to be a fourth-generation
company. Michael Larusso and Matteo DiBara emigrated to the United States from
Italy in the early 1900s, leveraging the one skill they had to support
themselves: masonry. Each of them built his new home from brick and stone, with
the help of the neighboring community and from the ground up. At the time, it
may have appeared that they were merely constructing residences, but it would
turn out that they were building the foundation of a legacy that would last for
decades.
