Ep.24 Dr. Bill Sutherland - Medicinal Dialogue & the Playful Hunt for Wisdom

A dialogue I really appreciated. Dr.Bill Sutherland is an experienced medical doctor in Toronto, Canada. I proposed this conversation after reading his excellent book Grand Rounds: Healing Wisdom for a Complex World. I found Bill to be insightful and our conversation wove in his understanding of complexity with storytelling, humor & depth. Bill served up an interesting exploration of the life of Kalahari Bushmen and the way of reading the world that is embodied in the hunter and shaman.   More on Dr. Bill Sutherland at https://www.complexitymedicine.org/complexity-medicine    Check out his podcast Complexity Medicine and the excellent dialogues with  Zak Stein and Bradford & Hilary Keeney! Ep. 22-Charley Lee: Catching a Breath After a Covid Year

A very thoughtful conversation with my friend Charley Lee, a psychotherapist and a dialogue partner who I enjoy returning to. We follow up our Conversation 1 year ago riffing on lessons learned during our unique experiences of Covid time.   Apologies for my taking up the first 10m of this dialogue. However, its very much worth the wait as we entered a textured, meaningful and generative conversation exploring: sensemaking, relationship, psychedelics, not-knowing and our collective context.  Recorded in Berlin, July 2021.   Catch Charley @charleyclee   Find me at www.jacobkishere.com

A conversational Dialogos with a trio of dear friends. We explore our relationship to creative process and faith in the midst of process. We talk frankly about negative 'serpent' self-voices and embody the kind of compassionate not-knowing that has helped free us from stuck patterns & fragmentation.   I enjoyed playing with a new style in producing this episode, including a new track 'Five, aliveVybe' by Culturepilgrim which was a great pairing for this dialogue.    Thank you for listening :)   Find more on me at www.jacobkishere.com  including  ~essays ~poetry ~podcasts ~my 1-1 practice on Dialogos & The Craft of Meaningful Conversation.   Joseph is a lover Wisdom, Dialogos and embodied arts with a background in Engineering and Artificial life/adaptive systems research.  Check out his tastefully curated website: https://www.josephpickens.com/  Hannah Joan Smith AKA Mauve Prudence is a Voice Actress, Singer and Music Producer with 19 years of experience behind the mic. Fractal Dialogues w/Joe Pickens pt.4: Re-imagining Courage and War

~I showed up for this dialogue with Joseph after an intense week. It wasn’t my most eloquent but was a deeply insightful and clarifying conversation for me~   We delved into leadership and masculine warrior energy, exploring what the role of the idea of war, drawing upon its presence in my lineage and my childhood fascination with it. Joseph and I play at imagining a higher order transcendent interpretation of war in service of peace. We work with Jordan Hall’s idea of of ‘Infinitesimal courage’ the ‘war’ we face at the level of minute courageous acts on the home front and day to day. We enter a messy but flowing dialogos in the latter half drawing together courage, vulnerability, healing and war. The dialogue wrapped up with some exploration of John Vervaeke’s 4 ways of knowing, liminal musicality in dialogue and the spirit of logos.

Fractal Dialogues w/Joe Pickens pt.3: The Practice of Crying, Shamanic Listening and Boundaries

SHOW LESSAnother wonderful dialogue and dialogos with my friend Joseph. In this we begin exploring the transformation that comes from crying and the nuances and dimensions that can be found in crying. We consider what it is to afford deep listening and the experience of contraction that can follow when a relationship space is enframed by trauma. A deeply emergent theme here was the role of dialogos and the shamanic sensibility in helping people find meaning, integrate trauma and break out of the stories that have kept them stuck. Much of what we talked about in this draws upon and will inform  the ongoing development of my own 1-1 dialogic practice.
