The Culture High

The first reason you need to see the latest documentary by Adam Scorgie is that its already causing conversation. Controversy is the tremor that precedes tomorrow's release for this anticipatd film, which was entirely brought about through a kickstarter campaign Adam's first smash-hit documentary, The Union, took a closer look at the business of cannabis in British Colombia. It was an immediate success, with it's mature journalism and alternative angles on the drug debate. The Union, however, paved the way for Adam's biggest project yet - a comprehensive look at cannabis prohibition, crime, industrialisation of US prisons and the part that the war on drugs plays in it all. The advocacy documentary draws on popular cultural figures, like Joe Rogan and Wiz Khalifa, as well as scientists and legal experts. At the frontline of the ongoing exchange Adam illustrates just how cannabis criminalisation plays a significant part in a vast, inverted and corrupt system despite the science. As fascinating in conception as much as subject, the film is also set apart as a real product of it's time. In an age where disillusion with mainstream media productions is growing, The Culture High's production was entirely crowd-funded. Websites like Kickstarter empower people to financially support projects they value. While documentary making is not a particularly lucrative business, Adam's new film raised above and beyond the target of $190,000 with strong community support, totalling donations at $240,022. London Real's Brian, Colin and Dre had the opportunity to get to the premiere prior to Adam's upcoming appearance on the show. Adam has been a guest on the show before and it was about time we had him back - don't miss him, this Sunday. This is a must see ground-breaking documentary and is available NOW on the above link from Vimeo for $11.69 with the Promo Code "LONDONREAL" (10% off).Order it NOW and Support these amazing Filmmakers.

Timothy Shieff - Professional Kid

When I chart the evolution of Timothy Shieff, I chart the evolution of myself. For the past 18 months I have watched this young man grow from a short-haired freerunner into a seasoned, spiritual sage. At the same time I too have grown into my own skin, embracing my role as the host of London Real and allowing into my heart the love and positive energy I get every day from all of you around the world. Tim recognises this change in me and wasn't shy about pointing it out! Just a few days after this interview Tim was arrested in a peaceful protest at the Climate Change March in London as he scaled a building in an anonymous mask. Mr. Shieff talks the talk and walks the walk. Would we expect anything different from him? Tim is first and foremost a vegan, a cause that he has embraced wholeheartedly and one that he pursues relentlessly, often times in the face of harsh criticism. But for Tim veganism is a noble cause, a movement that in his mind the world must accept sooner or later. This genuine, selfless spirit makes his arguments so compelling. Big love and much peace to you Timothy Shieff, I look forward to doing this again in 2016.

Alex Ikonn - How To Make Money $$$

WARNING: Before watching this episode you must throw everything you think you know about Alex Ikonn straight out the window. Yes he has the dream life, the dream wife, and the successful career. Yes his YouTube channel is full of videos like "How to Change the WORLD!" and "How to: WIN LIFE" and "How to Create Your Dream Life". But, like every successful entrepreneur that I've ever met, his journey was beset with tragedy, self-doubt, complications, mistakes, and longing for community. Don't let the pastel colours fool you. Alex has practical advice about how anyone can make money by ultimately creating value and thinking about someone else's needs before your own. If you think of any successful business throughout history, they ultimately provided a product that made their customer's lives better. Make yourself valuable and the cash will follow. This episode is not just about success in business but about what to do when you finally achieve all of those things you have wished for your entire life...and then realise you are not any happier. Ultimately Alex learned that life is one continuous growth pattern, and as soon as that stagnates then you will find yourself with a whole new set of problems. Please join me in welcoming Alex to our London Real community.

Ray McGovern - Intelligence Activism

Ray McGovern is quite frankly one bad motherfucker. He was a CIA analyst from 1963 to 1990 beginning under President John F. Kennedy and lasting until the Presidency of George H. W. Bush. From 1981 to 1985 he prepared and presented the President's Daily Brief one-on-one to President Ronald Reagan's most senior national security advisers including then Vice President George H. W. Bush. In 2003 Ray came out of retirement and founded the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) which analyses and criticises the use of intelligence. He famously confronted Donald Rumsfeld publicly about lying about W.M.D. and nearly got him to recant his statements. Ray also protested a speech by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by turning his back onkly to be physically removed, double handcuffed and seriously battered and bruised. He did this at the spry age of 71. Please join me in welcoming Ray McGovern to London Real. I consider him a piece of living history and was honoured to be able to speak to him about issues ranging from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Cold War to Edward Snowden and Julian Assange to the Ukrainian Separatists, Gaza, ISIS and more.

Dustin "Clean" Denes - Chop Certified

Dustin "Clean" Denes is the ultimate competitor and a true example of a fighter from the old school. After training with him in New York City during Christmas in 2013 I learned that he has one speed - "Kill". Upon meeting Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro in Florida in 1999, Dustin followed the MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt back to Brazil to train with him at Carlson Gracie's academy and later at the Brazilian Top Team (BTT). Coincidentally I had the honour of training at the BTT with Murilo Bustamante in 2005 where I met the famous Noguiera during his rein in the Pride Fighting Championship. Dustin believes in sacrifice and that winning is not everything, but the only thing. His MMA career taught him that the art of fighting is about grit and determination and not about the colour of the belt you wear around your gi. These days Dustin travels the world inspiring students on the mat and executives in the boardroom. I hope you enjoy our hour with "Clean" !!

Boki Nachbar - NBA Basketballer

Boki Nachbar has been a fan of London Real from the very early days of split screens and big headphones. In fact when he first contacted me as a former NBA Basketball player with the Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets, I nearly fell off my chair. I was surprised to learn that such a high calibre athlete was such a big fan of message at London Real. Boki currently plays for FC Barcelona, a club with passionate fans in one of my favourite cities in Europe. He is a huge fan of MMA and the UFC and is of course an avid listener of the Joe Rogan Experience. He also produces is own podcast in Slovenian and has just recently released the first episode in English. It's called The Details Podcast and you can download it Here. Boki just returned from a trip to Africa with UNICEF where he learned about the devastating effects of water shortage and took some time out to teach the children the game of basketball. You can read his blog about it here. If there is one secret to Boki's success that I can pinpoint after meeting him I would say it is his sincere expression of Gratitude. Enjoy!

Steve Maxwell - Ageless

Steve Maxwell is the superhero of every man over 40. At 61 years of age he is in sick shape, trains the best athletes in the world, and learned Jiu-Jitsu from the Gracie Family BEFORE the UFC was ever created. And it doesn't stop there. Steve lives a nomadic lifestyle moving from city to city as a fitness instructor with no fixed residence. In fact he refuses to use a travel bag with wheels forcing him to physically carry everything he owns. What man hasn't dreamed of living like this? To have a conversation with Steve is to delve into the legendary tales of the emergence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in America via the Gracie family and the UFC. On top of that he personally trains Joe Rogan and has witnessed first hand his devastating Taekwondo side kicks. And don't get me started about hanging with the Barstarzz crew....now that's Gangster. Steve is a big proponent of gratitude and positive thinking and believes that everything in life happens for a reason. I couldn't ask for a more tailor-made guest on London Real. Godspeed Steve!
