A lot of people are leaving the church and this pastor knows why. The Bible has been used to control, shame and justify a lot of things. It can leave you feeling disappointed in unfulfilled promises or confused about what God really means. But scripture was never meant to be read literally or taken apart verse by verse to proof text or prove a point. God may not be who you think he is. He isn’t waiting to catch you doing something wrong so he can punish you. He doesn’t use guilt and shame to control your behavior. He isn’t even solely concerned with your morality and goodness. If any of those sound untrue to you, it may be time for you to quit on your version of God. In this message, Jesus uses 3 parables in Luke 15 (the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son) to show us who God really is. You’ll also learn the difference between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament and why it matters where you start reading the Bible. Maybe to live the life you want, you don’t need to start anything new. You just need to quit. In order to change your life, you just need to stop doing and believing certain things so you can do what you were uniquely created to do. The real message of Christmas isn’t about a baby or a miraculous birth. The true meaning of Christmas is that God loves you so much, he wants to be with you - always. Are we asking the wrong people to love us? Or are we the problem when it comes to being unlovable? In a world that says “All you need is love,” Pastor Naeem says “Love is what you need”…but in a particular way. Even the best intentioned humans can only love conditionally but the agape love of God is perfect, unconditional, sacrificial and pure. This is the love you need and that’s available to you.
