Introducing the eCommerce MasterPlan Podcast
Hello, I'm Chloe Thomas, host of the eCommerce MasterPlan Podcast. I've been in eCommerce for over 15 years, starting off client side, working for multichannel retailer Past Times. Yes. Back in 2003 we were juggling the challenges of running high street stores, a mail order catalogue and a website all at the same time. Then I spent 10 years running a marketing agency and consultancy helping eCommerce businesses of all shapes and sizes make the internet work for them, helping high street retailers launch their first ever online operations through to helping new online only startups work out what marketing will work for them. During that time, I also got deeply into email marketing, Google and Facebook ads. I now host this podcast, speak at eCommerce events around the world, chair some of the biggest eCommerce events in the U.K. and write books on eCommerce. Throughout my career, I've been privileged to have amazing and fascinating conversations with retailers and marketers about what they're up to. It struck me as a total waste that all those chats were off the record and couldn't be heard by all the many business owners and marketers I knew they could help. The eCommerce MasterPlan podcast is my way of bringing those fascinating conversations to your ears. My aim with every episode is to leave you with either some new ideas to take your business forward or reassurances that what you've been doing is the right thing. My aim with every episode is to leave you with either some new ideas to take your business forward or reassurances that what you've been doing is the right thing. Now, every Monday at 1:00 AM U.K. time we release a new podcast episode so it should be available in time for your breakfast or your commute to help you get your working week off to a great start. Occasionally we'll put a bonus episode live and every January we double up and release two episodes a week to give you a great start to the new year. Usually the episode is an interview with an online retailer. They may have only been live for a few months or be one of the biggest retailers in the world. They might be online only, be multichannel, be from the U.K., U.S.A., Australia, Sweden, Romania or all over the place. What they all have in common though is that they are sharing experience that you can learn from. Sometimes rather than a retailer, my guest is a specialist or an author who covers a topic we all need to know more about. And whatever sorts of guest I have on the show we finish up with the four top tip's questions, covering books, marketing methods, tools, and their number one growth tip. That's just to make sure you get something valuable from every single episode. Every now and again we'll have an episode that's just me giving you an update on an event I've recently been to or insight into something else I think you'll find particularly valuable. The eCommerce MasterPlan podcast is completely free to listen to and it's available on any apps that supports podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify. Go on, take off an hour and listen to an episode. I think you'll enjoy it.This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/---

Christine Nicholson explains why and how she closed eCommerce subscription business Divine Legs
Occasionally I have a guest back on the show to update us on how things are going – today we have a repeat guest. Christine Nicholson of Divine Legs (Tights subscription business) was my guest back in episode 103. Back then the business was 9 months old, and Christine took us through how she’d launched and achieved 100 orders in the first 100 days. In November 2017 Divine Legs reached 15 months old, and despite continuing to grow Christine made the decision to shut it down. Never an easy choice to make. Not least because despite 100s of eCommerce business owners making the same decision every day – we don’t hear as much about it, as we do about the starting or the growing. So I’m super-pleased to have Christine on today to take us through why, and how she made the decision to exit, and her choice of exit, and how she went about closing it down. This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/---
