The auto finance market is such a unique space. In some ways it has a lot in common with home finance, it is an asset-backed loan after all, but it also seems to be a far less mature market when it comes to fintech disruption. That is starting to change, thankfully, because there are likely tens of millions of people who are overpaying for their auto loans today. Embedded finance is one of those fintech terms that gets thrown around a lot. At LendIt Fintech LatAm I chatted with Pierpaolo Barbieri, the CEO and founder of Ualá. I decided to turn this interview into a podcast because I think Ualá is becoming a really important company in the region. And it is a company we are going to continue to hear more from as they grow. Ualá started with a prepaid debit card in Argentina and in less than four years they have amassed almost 4 million customers, including 25% of the 18-25 year old population. They have recently expanded to Mexico and have become one of the fastest-growing companies in all of fintech.
