Dr Troels Engberg-Pedersen on Stoicism, Spirit, and Christology
Dr. Troels Engberg-Pedersen is a Professor Emeritus of New Testament exegesis at the University of Copenhagen. In this conversation we talk specifically about the relationship between Christianity and Stoicism as seen specifically in the New Testament authors Paul and John. We look at their understand of the spirit (pneuma) and the logos. We then discuss how this Stoic understanding of the pneuma can help us better understand the Christology of the Gospel of John. We also mention also scholars like Wayne meeks, Ernst Käsemann, and many more.
