Samuel P. Jones: Quit Your Meanness!

Samuel P. Jones was once said to be the most famous preacher in all of America outside D L Moody. He was a famed prohibitionist who fought for temperance. He was also former alcoholic who was once known for his terrible drinking binges. In this sermon, "Quit Your Meanness!" listen to a sermon that challenges our addictions to different sins. And forces us to accept that we need to have victory over the sins of our life in Christ rather than be bound by them. Special thanks to Justin Rea for this sermon. Justin Rea is the founder of soundinworship.com, a website designed to point Christians to worship music from theologically sound sources. He is also the host of the If Songs Could Preach podcast. Boniface: Faith and Works Of Love

Boniface was known as the "Apostle to Germany." A great continuation of the episode we did on "Gregory The Great," who sent missionaries to England. Now England, about a century later, is sending missionaries to continental Europe. And Boniface is a literal axe-wielding no non-sense preacher who was so beloved his church in England followed him into Europe. In this sermon, Boniface preaches a final farewell to a group and leaves them with his final thoughts on what makes up the faith. He goes through the disciplines and virtues that are expected among the members of Christ. Special thanks to Ed Beckell for this sermon. Pastor Ed Backell is a Washington state native, and has taught for 30+ years in churches in Oregon, Washington and Nebraska, currently in Warden, WA. He has been serving Warden Community Church since May, 2010 We are now partnered with ServeNow! Charles Spurgeon: The Good Samaritan

Troy and Joel got to interview the current curator of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and ask him about Charles Spurgeon's life. Dr. Geoff Chang of the Spurgeon Library did a wonderful job telling us about Spurgeon's life and also narrated this week's episode of Revived Thoughts (he also selected the sermon!). The stories about Spurgeon's time at the orphanage are a must listen! **Make sure to watch the full video on our Facebook page or on our website! Links below** This sermon from Charles Spurgeon challenges us to look at the story of the Good Samaritan and really ask ourselves if we would do what he did. Spurgeon calls out the tough conditions of his time. Check out the Spurgeon Library and the work they are doing by bringing Spurgeon's last sermons out to the public. RT Selects: Christmas Evans - The Triumph of Calvary

Christmas Evans was born in Wales in the mid-1700s. He went from unable to read and write to a powerful preacher who preaches in a very unique and imaginative style. He would end up being one of the most famous preacher in Welsh history. This sermon was delivered in the mid 1930s and covered the subject "The Fear Of God." Too often we fear men or the opinions of man and do not properly fear and understand the Creator it is that we serve. This sermon, "The Triumph of Calvary," is a fantastic description of what occurred on the cross using Isaiah 63:1-6. Special thanks to Ed Backell or helping create this episode of Revived Thoughts. Pastor Ed Backell is a Washington state native, and has taught for 30+ years in churches in Oregon, Washington and Nebraska, currently in Warden, WA. Watchman Nee: Why This Waste?

Watchman Nee is maybe the most famous preacher that has ever come out of China. He suffered persecution for the faith and was responsible for setting up hundreds of churches. But how many of us know much about his actual life story? In the sermon, "Why This Waste?" Watchman Nee challenges listeners to think through what the world might call wasting your life on God. He on the other hand says that it is actually rightfully living for and following God. Special thanks to Jonathan Clauson. Special thanks to Jonathan Clauson for reading this speech. John Sung: The Burden Of Sin Lifted

John Sung was the most famous evangelist in China's history. He preached to millions of people in his career and not just in China, but across all of south-east Asia. They called him the "John The Baptist" of China. And the man who changed China. Soren Kierkegaard: The Unchangeableness of God

Soren Kierkegaard is known as the "Father of existentialism." So what is he doing preaching a sermon about a God that never changes? In this sermon, "The Unchangeableness of God," Kierkegaard argues that God has never forgotten any action that we have ever taken. That God's immutability is one of the most terrifying and true realities of God we have to deal with. Special thanks to Josiah Carrigan for reading this sermon for Revived Thoughts. He lives in Washington state and is married with four kids. He is active in student ministry at his current church and worked as a missionary overseas in Africa before that. He is also a teacher.  Subscribe to our newest show, Revived Radio for an extra sermon every week.
