038: Food & Togetherness with Kathleen Blake

Togetherness happens around food. Meals, when we let them, can be the richest and most important social connectors in life. Built into the making and consuming of our food are all sorts of rich opportunities to feel connected, but only if we take advantage of those opportunities and mine those moments. This week we speak to Chef Kathleen Blake about food and togetherness.   Guest Bio Iowa native Kathleen Blake started cooking at an early age in her grandmother's kitchen where she helped prepare Sunday Suppers for her large extended family. Staying true to her path, Blake worked in restaurants during high school and then moved out West to attend the Community College of San Francisco's Culinary Apprenticeship Program. After many years and many kitchens, she and her husband, William, opened The Rusty Spoon in downtown Orlando in 2011. A beloved chef among the locals, Blake is also a 2013 and 2015 James Beard Award Nominee.   Connect with the 60 Mindful Minutes podcast   Web: https://kristenmanieri.com  Email: Kristen@kristenmanieri.com    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/60MindfulMinutes Instagram: @kristenmanieri_

037: Parenting in Slow Motion with Carrie Contey

Guest Bio Carrie Contey, PhD is an internationally recognized coach, author, speaker and educator. Her work offers a new perspective on human development, parenting, family life and being a healthy, happy, whole human being. Learn more at www.carriecontey.com.   Description Parenting isn’t easy. Just when we think we’ve got one stage mastered, our child develops and grows to a new stage with a new set of challenges for us to rise to and adapt with. We often hear parents of grown children say, “Enjoy it. It goes so fast.” They say this wistfully, almost mournfully, like they wish they could go back and do it all again in slow motion. We can’t slow time, but we can parent with intention. Carrie shows us how.    Connect with the 60 Mindful Minutes podcast   Web: https://kristenmanieri.com  Email: Kristen@kristenmanieri.com    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/60MindfulMinutes Instagram: @kristenmanieri_
