In this episode, Matthew and Brileigh sit down with Kenny from Studio DAO. StudioDAO is a decentralized movie studio owned by filmmakers and fans. Community members source, green-light, fund, and distribute movies while creators retain 100% of their creative control and ownership. Fans can help fund films and receive NFT rewards, access to exclusive content, and have a say in governance for the community wallet.
Kenny tells us about his long career in the media and entertainment industry and how StudioDAO is flipping the script on the traditional studio model. As someone who was closely involved in the early history of interactive media and later the transition from cable to streaming, Kenny shares his vision for how a community-owned studio can create space for content that is otherwise lost to the algorithms and business models of companies like Netflix.
