Trust the process

This series, I'm sharing insights from my book Work/Life Flywheel. In this episode, I explain why during the inevitable ups and downs of work and life, you must trust the process and keep your flywheel turning.Chapter Summary:Work/Life transitions aren't easy, and you'll frequently experience moments of doubt. While having a 'north star' can provide motivation and purpose, true satisfaction only comes if we recognise and enjoy the moment.    Accepting that not everything goes to plan can be a relief. There are some things you can't control, which is what makes life exciting.Focus on the small decisions you make every day.Rather than chase work/life balance, reframe your relationship with time and be open-minded.Concentrate on what really matters and what brings you joy.Embrace creativity and experimentation.Appreciate the pleasure of meeting new people, following your curiosity and constantly learning.Trust the process.LINKS:Book Ollie to speak with your teamOllie's LinkedInFuture Work/Life NewsletterWork/Life Flywheel: Harness the work revolution and reimagine your career without fear, is out now. Tracking your progress

This series, I'm sharing insights from my book Work/Life Flywheel. In this episode, I explain why we value making progress so highly, and how to help track yours.Chapter Summary:Developing a journaling habit helps provide unique levels of self-awareness and insight.Recording significant events and emotions in a tracker allows you to spot connections between patterns of behaviour and thinking. As we get older and responsibilities rack up, a sense that we have fewer options gets stronger, but reimagining work needn't be a binary choice – either continuing in the same job or quitting. The secret is finding the motivation to get started and then giving yourself credit for the progress you make on your journey.Your work doesn't need to change the world to be meaningful. It just needs to matter to you.Micro-journaling focuses your attention on the things that matter most and recognises your progress each day.LINKS:Book Ollie to speak with your teamOllie's LinkedInFuture Work/Life NewsletterWork/Life Flywheel: Harness the work revolution and reimagine your career without fear, is out now. You can order your copy HERE (UK) or HERE (US).Here’s what Andy Ayim MBE, founder of Angel Investing School, has said about it:“Life is a continuous learning journey with feedback loops along the way to help us reflect and adapt where appropriate. The Work/Life Flywheel is a much-needed read after the world has experienced a pandemic that puts the harmony of our work and personal lives in question.” Hosted on Acast. Moments of reflection

This series, I'm sharing insights from my book Work/Life Flywheel. In this episode, I discuss the power of journaling in our work and personal lives.Chapter Summary:Ensuring that your 'stress bucket' doesn't overflow can help prevent physical and mental health challenges.Journaling is a powerful reflection tool, helping you manage and organise the vast amounts of information going through your mind every day.Innovation requires constant iteration and inevitable failure before you ultimately achieve breakthroughs.Design thinking takes a 'human-centric' view of problems to create realistic, actionable solutions.Reflection is a vital part of the creative and learning process.High-performance requires the energy to push yourself mentally and physically, so it's critical to counterbalance the exertion with downtime.Passion can lead to burnout, so lean on your community's support and incorporate downtime in your schedule.Book Ollie to speak with your teamOllie's LinkedInFuture Work/Life NewsletterWork/Life Flywheel: Harness the work revolution and reimagine your career without fear, is out now. You can order your copy HERE (UK) or HERE (US).Here’s what Damian Hughes, host of The High Performance podcast and author of High Performance and Liquid Thinker, has said about it:“Ollie’s excellent book will show you the practical techniques of reimagining your life and career and reveals how much better things could be for you, if you can adopt his hard-earned wisdom.” Hosted on Acast.
