Inside The Journey & Mindset Of Oregon's Elliott Cook | Insights From His Breakout 2024 Season & 3:33 1500m Olympic Trial Race
Today on the podcast is one of the biggest up-and-coming 1500m stars, Elliott Cook!
Elliott is one of the best runners in the NCAA at the moment. He competes for The University of Oregon.
In 2022, Elliott won his first PAC-12 Championship in the 800. In 2023, he became an Indoor All-American (7th in the Mile) and was a 2023 Individual Qualifier in XC.
In 2024 Elliott stepped up his game and became the 2024 Outdoor PAC-12 Champion in BOTH the 800. and 1500m. He was the outdoor runner-up in the NCAA 1500m and was an Olympic Trials Finalist in the 1500m where he came 8th.
Elliott holds PRs of 1:46.6 (800m), 3:33.8 (1500m), and 29:22 (10k XC).
In today's conversation, Elliott and I go through his background in sport, how he's gotten to where he is today, his breakout year in 2024, ways he's taken his running to the next level, his ambitions for the future, 614 subjects, and so much more!

Zach has created next-level content over social media over the past few years and has amassed a following of over 1.4 million followers on Instagram alone. He's one of the best writers I've ever read, and his writings have profoundly impacted my life.
Zach has also recently fallen in love with the sport of running and has thrown himself fully into the fire of seeing how far he can go in this sport. In his first Marathon, on next to no training Zach ran a 3:16:30 Marathon. In his second marathon, Zach ran 2:55:14. He's a beast.
This podcast was one of my all-time favorites. It's just two humans who want more out of their lives having one of those late-night talks about everything on their mindown. You won't want to miss this one. It's special.

Georgetown's Coach Brandon Bonsey Shares Wisdom On How To Level Up Your Running & Lessons From Coaching The Best Of The NCAA
Today on the podcast is the one and only Coach Brandon Bonsey from Georgetown!
Coach Bonsey is entering his seventh campaign as head men’s cross country coach and previously served as an assistant coach for the track & field / cross country program. Bonsey returned to his alma mater at the beginning of the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach and has worked primarily with the middle-distance and distance runners from the men’s team.
In the events that he coaches, the Hoyas have tallied 34 total BIG EAST event titles (29 individual, 5 relay) and the Hoya men have won four-consecutive team titles at the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships.
Coach Bonsey used to be an athlete himself at Georgetown, where he was captain of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track teams during his senior year.
In today's conversation, we discuss the impact the Olympics could have on the future of US distance running, stories from his years at Georgetown, the lessons he's learned throughout the years of coaching high-level teams, and much more!

Notre Dame's Drew Griffith & Cameron Todd Answer The Hottest Takes In Track & Field + Spill The Tea From Summer XC Training

Today, these Irish boys and I go through the hottest takes in track and field and answer your questions!
If you're not familar with them, let me introduce you:
Drew Griffith is one of the most successful high school runners of all-time. He was a Footlocker National Finalist in 2022 and 2023, becoming the Footlocker National Champion last year. He won National Titles at New Balance in both the Mile & 2 Mile in 2024 setting meet records in both. He also won Brooks PR and Festival Of Miles. He was the Gatorade XC PA player of the year in 2022 and 2023. He was the Gatorade Track and Field PA player of the year in 2024. Drew holds PRs of 800- 1:52.05, 1 Mile - 3:57.72, 2 Mile - 8:31.46.
Cameron Todd was the NXN Runner-Up in 2023, NXR Midwest Champion in 2023 (did so in an NBA Pacer jersey), 2x Foot Locker All-American, Indiana Individual, and Team XC State Champion (All Classes). He was the 2023 IN Gatorade Player of the Year XC and has run 4:08 (Mile), 8:46 (3200m), and 14:43 on the grass.
Cameron Todd is also Ryan Trahan and will wear socks while sleeping. He can also probably bench a plate.

How To Have Your Best XC Season EVER With NAU's Assistant Coach Jarred Cornfield! + Insights From Coaching 3xUS Champion Elise Cranny
Today on the podcast is NAU's Assistant Coach Jarred Cornfield!
Coach Cornfield, with a background in Sports Management and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from NAU, has spent nine years at Northern Arizona University, progressing from a Graduate Assistant Coach to his current role as an Assistant Coach, specializing in distance and mid-distance running, while also playing an active role in recruitment.
His coaching prowess is evident through his instrumental contributions to the Lumberjack teams' multiple victories at the Big Sky Championships and NCAA National Championships. Notably, he helped guide athletes like Luis Grijalva, Drew Bosley, Nico Young, and Abdihamid Nur to impressive feats, including NCAA titles and Olympic participation. Under his guidance, the men's track & field and cross country teams have achieved remarkable success, culminating in championship wins and numerous All-America honors.
Coach Cornfield also recently started coaching his first professional athlete, Elise Cranny, who made her second Olympic Team in June in Eugene, Oregon, in the 5k.
In today's conversation, Coach Cornfield takes me through the scene at the Paris Olympics, coaching Elise Cranny, how to have a successful upcoming XC season, the importance of being more process oriented, and much more!

Olympian Kate Grace Shares Stories & Lessons From Her 13 Years Of Successful Pro Running
Today on the podcast is Olympian Kate Grace!
Kate has quite a remarkable career at every level and recently announced her retirement from the track.
In HS, she was a multi-time state-champion while competing for Marlborough School in Los Angeles.
Attending Yale University, Grace broke four school records, won six Heps championships (one as a member of a relay team), and was a four-time NCAA Division I Track and Field and Cross country All-American.
Kate holds PRs of 1:57.20 (800m), 4:01.33 (1500m), 4:22.93 in the Mile & 8:46 in the 3k.
After the 2024 US Olympic Track & Field Trials where she made the 800m Final, Kate announced her retirement from Track & Field. As she details in this conversation, she's not fully done with the sport and will potentially seek to attack a marathon in the future.
Kate and her husband Patrick have a son named River who was born in March 2023.
In today's conversation, Kate takes me through her last month since "retirement," lessons and reflections from her long, successful career, her ambitions in the marathon, her hope to be a coach one day & lessons learned from her coaches throughout the years, and so much more!
I truly loved this conversation and gained so much from Kate's wisdom.

After months of requests to get the villains back on the podcast, we came through.
Connor Burns & Simeon Birnbaum were two of the greatest high school runners of all-time and graduted high school this past spring. Both broke the 4-minute mile barrier, and set countless state records, and in Connor's case a National Record in the 5k by running 13:37. Simeon had one of the greatest seasons ever by a high schooler breaking record after record and turning heads with every race.
Both run for The University of Oregon and will be starting their Sophmore year this upcoming Fall.
Last year, we launched The Call Room with them, which was not only widely successful, but also incredibly fun and entertaining. Anytime they come on a podcast, it's a blast and turns some heads with hilarious takes.

Shannon Flockhart Shares Insights On Her Rise To The Top Of The NCAA 1500m

Shannon has run 2:03.56 (800m), 4:04.98 (1500m), 4:30.83 (Mile) and is a 1500m Bronze Medallist at Euro U23s and a 3xAll-American in the 1500m.
Shannon is also a NIL Athlete for New Balance and is headed into her final year of NCAA at Providence College.

Inside The Creation Of "The Daily Mile" With NCAA Runner & Creator Brock Kelly
Today on the podcast is Brock Kelly!
If you’re not familiar with Brock, he runs for Mississippi College where he has progressed over the years into one of their top guys. He holds PRs of 1:55.03 (800m), 4:11.19 (Mile), and 14:49.2 (5k). He has won awards of 2021USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, 2021 GSC Academic Honor Roll, and 2021 USTFCCCA All-Region. In High School, Brock was a state champion in 3,200 meters, 2xstate champ in 1,600 meters, 3xstate champ in 800 meters, and the Cross Country state champion in 2018 and 2019.
Brock also has a successful YouTube channel boasting over 17,000 subscribers documenting his NCAA journey.
In today’s conversation, Brock takes me through 2024 and the creation and evolution of "The Daily Mile." We dive into the success of it, what goes into each video, his vision for it, and much more!
