The intention is to find sustainability of the patient to not need you by trying to find opportunities, not solutions. This opens the patient up to feel confident and empowered. Pain mechanism classification for chronic pain patients. Demetry is a wealth of information when it comes to his experience with chronic pain. What is really fascinating is when he talks about his assessment that involves objective measures that clinicians are never talking about. To treat chronic pain, you have to do what it takes to understand when the level of pain is greater than the level of damage.
