God isn’t seeing the old you when He looks at you, because He knows that Jesus already dealt with that on the cross. This means that God is no longer dealing with your behavior. Instead, He’s focused on developing your new identity in Jesus. Key Scriptures: + Acts 4:13. You are not defined by what other people do to you. You can only be defined by who God is for you. To walk in the Spirit is to be careful to maintain acts of goodness in our own lifestyle. It’s not an option. It’s the only viable expression of the Kingdom. Every day, you should feel overwhelmed. The real question is: What are we going to be overwhelmed by? We can either be overwhelmed by shame, guilt, powerlessness (and so on) … or we can be overwhelmed by the goodness of God.
