Myron Pierce (Episode #18)
Myron Pierce (Episode #18)
Rob and Brian interview Myron Pierce. Myron describes himself as a follower of Jesus, husband, father, pastor, church planter, author and entrepreneur. At the age of 18 he was facing a life sentence in prison for his life of gang banging, drugs and crime. He surrendered to Jesus and heard the Spirit say, “I’m going to get you out of prison to plant churches.” Through a series of miracles, the prison doors opened after eight years. The call of Mission Church where he leads is to unleash unprecedented hope in every inner city across the world. He and his wife Kristin and their four kids live in North Omaha. Myron is quickly becoming a close friend of the Underground here in Kansas City and we’ll hear from him for the next two weeks as well. He’s full of wisdom and we think you’re going to love this three-week series!

D'Markus Thomas-Brown (Episode #17)
D’Markus Thomas-Brown (Episode #17)
Cory and Brian interview D’Markus Thomas-Brown. D’Markus is leading a church in Columbia, MO that is driven by disciple making movement principles. He originally moved to Columbia with the idea of planting a church but quickly realized that to make an impact in the lostness of that city, attractional models of church planting were not going to work. D’Markus, like the missionaries in the Underground, is an everyday missionary thinking about how to see the gospel planted in a pocket of people, while raising up new leaders to go to different parts of their city. Perhaps the most encouraging piece was his reminder that we should invest deeply in the places where we’ve been sent.

Regina Foard (Episode #16)

She has a heart for the nations in KC and a clear favor among the international community. You’re going to be moved by her knowledge of the diversity of the nations in our city. We often talk about knowing to whom you’ve been sent, you’ll hear from the overflow of her heart that Regina knows her calling. Plant the Gospel, Hugh Halter (Episode #15)
Hugh Halter (Episode #15)
Cory and Brian interview Hugh Halter. Hugh & Cheryl Halter began their ministry starting things from scratch in Portland, Oregon. Hugh and Cheryl have done it all from church planting to house painting to starting hockey teams for children with disabilities. Hugh has been one of the primary influencers for the Underground in learning about incarnational living and gospel planting. Currently, Hugh and Cheryl are in Alton, IL where they moved without knowing what they would do, but knew they wanted to bring good news to a small, struggling town. Within a year, they were given a 12,000 square foot federal post office, and with the help of his family turned it into “Post Commons” which the locals call the “living room for Alton.”
Under Hugh’s non-profit “Lantern Network” Hugh facilitates a coffee house, brunch kitchen, events center, whiskey society, and co-working space to birth and nurture small ventures that make a collectively large ripple.
Hugh says his mission is to encourage the church to be less churchy and instead work on creating social, personal, & spiritual ventures that serve our cities in ways that make God smile.

Plant the Gospel
In this episode we're moving to the next big shift in the conversation of "Mindset to Movement," which is the move from Church Planting to Gospel Planting. Prayer of Examen (No Introduction, Episode #13)
This episode is a walkthrough of the Prayer of Examen.

Prayer of Examen (Episode #12)
Episode 12 is all about the Prayer of Examen as we continue in our series on Extraordinary Prayer and Fasting. We've already had one training episode on Activating Prayer that was more about a breathing out type of prayer. The Prayer of Examen is a breathing in type of prayer. It's less about active mission and more about Jesus and His gospel, through the Spirit and the everyday stuff of life speaking over us. Our hope is that it will be a useful tool in your prayer life.
A number of resources were accessed to put together this brief intro. The Examen is an ancient practice and helpful practice and we're thankful for the resources from blogs to academia who have written extensively on the topic.
Resources:

Ignatian Spirtuality on Examen (pretty much just read this part)
