What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church?
Rapp Report episode 195
Part 2: What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church?
What is critical race theory (CRT)? It is the ideology that is behind most of the diversity and inclusivity training in school and the workplace, and these trainings are actually counterproductive because they are leading to more bias and fear. It is a lens through which to see the world (a worldview) – it shapes how you view politics, theology, and education.
Critical theory sees everything as the oppressed versus the oppressor. It is deconstructing those constructs until they get down to fitting into this worldview of the oppressed versus the oppressor.
Why does this matter? What’s the big deal if our kids are being taught it in schools? Isn’t inclusiveness and diversity training a good thing? What are the dangers it’s posing on the church? Are we falling for a false narrative? The language in our culture is changing, and we need to be aware of what the truth is behind it all.
The church is falling for the social justice gospel. When you add anything to the gospel, you’re changing the gospel! This episode talks about critical race theory and how it is affecting the church.

Wives and Submission (1 Peter 3:1)
Rapp Report episode 194
Andrew provides a detailed explanation of the passages used to explain the submission of wives. Many people have not searched the context to understand the meaning. Must wives obey their husbands in every aspect? Must wives submit to their husbands at all? Does Ephesians 5:22 and 1 Peter 3:1 teach that wives must submit to their own husbands or is there a great context that is often missed? It is important to look at the context. It is in the context of each passage that we see the truth of Scripture and it may not lead to where you think it will. Sometimes the common understanding of a passage of Scripture is not the clear meaning because some do not examine the context and see the greater context.
The reality is that the two main passages used to teach wives submission to their own husbands have a greater context that is often ignored. The Scriptures teach that we are each to have submission to one another. Just as a wife is to submit to her own husband, so each husband is to submit to their wife. This lesson will help to understand the divisive issues taught in the church and explain the context to help balance the views held by many churches.

God the Father, What We Believe, Part 5
Rapp Report episode 193
Andrew and Bud continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Father. This is a branch of theology known as Theology Proper.
The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is:
"God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity, orders and disposes all things according to His own purpose and grace (Psalm 145:8-9; 1 Corinthians 8:6). He is the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1-31; Ephesians 3:9). As the only absolute and omnipotent Ruler in the universe, He is sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption (Psalm 103:19; Romans 11:36). His Fatherhood involves both His designations within the Trinity and His relationship with mankind. As Creator He is Father to all men (Ephesians 4:6), but He is spiritual Father only to believers (Romans 8:14; 2 Corinthians 6:18). He has an all-inclusive plan that He designed for His own glory in all things that come to pass (Ephesians 1:11). He continually upholds, directs, and governs all creatures and events (1 Chronicles 29:11). In His sovereignty He is neither author nor approver of sin (Habakkuk 1:13; John 8:38-47), nor does He abridge the accountability of moral, intelligent creatures (1 Peter 1:17). He has graciously chosen from eternity past those whom He would have as His own (Ephesians 1:4 6); He saves from sin all who come to Him through Jesus Christ; He adopts as His own all those who come to Him; and He becomes, upon adoption, Father to His own (John 1:12; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5; Hebrews 12:5-9)."

Interpreting Scripture, What We Believe, Part 3
Rapp Report episode 190
Continuing on the What We Believe series, Andrew and Bud examine the subject of interpreting Scripture.
The part of the What We Believe statement that Andrew and Bud examine is the following:
"The only means of interpreting Scripture is a literal, grammatical, and historical interpretation which affirms the belief that the opening chapters of Genesis present creation in six literal days (Genesis 1:31; Exodus 31:17) and seeing a distinction between Israel and the church. The Bible constitutes the only infallible rule of faith and practice (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35; 16:12-13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21). Whereas there may be many applications of any given passage of Scripture, there is but one true interpretation according to God, except where Scripture makes it clear that God intended a dual meaning. The meaning of Scripture is to be found as one diligently applies the literal grammatical-historical method of interpretation under the illuminating of the Holy Spirit (John 7:17; 16:12-15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-15; 1 John 2:20). It is the responsibility of believers to ascertain carefully the true intent and meaning of Scripture, recognizing that proper application is binding on all generations. Yet the truth of Scripture stands in judgment of men; never do men stand in judgment of it."

What is the Inspiration of Scripture? – What We Believe, Part 2
Rapp Report episode 189
How was the Scripture inspired? What is inspiration? Andrew and Bud unpack the Striving for Eternity doctrinal statement and discuss the teachings of the Scripture.
The statement discussed from What We Believe: "The Bible is inspired by God. Inspiration is that supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in which He superintended (controlled and directed) the reception (to the writers) and communication (to the hearers and the readers) of the divine message to mankind such that the product (the original writing) is verbally (every word) and plenary (completely) both inerrant (without error) and authoritative (2 Timothy 3:16). God spoke in His written Word by a process of dual authorship. The Holy Spirit so superintended the human authors that, through their individual personalities and different styles of writing, they composed and recorded God’s Word to man (2 Peter 1:20-21) without error in the whole or in the part (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16), thus, making the Scriptures completely and totally sufficient for life and godliness."

Is the Bible Eternal – What We Believe, Part 1
Rapp Report episode 188
Is Scripture eternal? Why does it matter? This episode starts a new series and provides an overview of why studying theology is important. Andrew and Bud look at the Striving for Eternity statement on What We Believe and they start the series with The Holy Scriptures. The Scripture is revealed from God and is the authority for the Christian for faith and practice. Many Christians do not study about the Scriptures and why we value them. They do not cover the full section but address the following paragraph:
"The Bible is God’s special self-revelation, which is limited in space and time and are directed to various designated individuals (2 Peter 1:21). The accepted writings that make up the Bible are the 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books without any of the additional writings commonly known as the Apocrypha. The Bible provides the only inerrant and absolutely authoritative propositional knowledge of God that exists."
