Decibel Geek Podcast - The Best & Worst of Aerosmith 1993-2012 - Ep572

We're back this week to examine an era for a classic band that resulted in huge sales but possible long-term damage as we consider The Best & Worst of Aerosmith 1993-2012.Coming off the heels of back-to-back successes 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump,' Aerosmith was riding high. Those two albums opted to inject a more commercial flavor to their sound and the results spoke for themselves. Heading into the 90's, the band leaned further in that direction going forward with sometimes mixed results. In this episode we'll pick our favorite and least favorite tracks from 'Get a Grip,' 'Nine Lives,' 'Just Push Play,' 'Honkin' on Bobo,' and 'Music From Another Dimension.' Aerosmith sold a ton of albums through these releases so their bank accounts approved of them. However, did they push things too far and alienate hardcore fans? We discuss this entire era, songs that got left off, drama behind the scenes, and much more. It's an hour-plus of Aerosmith discussion covering an era that rarely gets brought up. Is that for a reason? Did we find some gold among these albums? Listen and find out!We hope you enjoy The Best & Worst of Aerosmith 1993-2021 and SHARE with a friend!Decibel Geek is a proud member of the Pantheon Podcasts family.Contact Us!Rate, Review, and Subscribe in iTunesJoin the Facebook Fan PageFollow on TwitterFollow on InstagramE-mail UsSubscribe to our Youtube channel!Support Us!Buy a T-Shirt!Donate to the show!Stream Us!Stitcher RadioSpreakerTuneInBecome a VIP Subscriber!Click HERE for more info!Comment BelowDirect Download  Learn more about your ad choices. The Devil's Music 61: Joe Pompeo

Joe Pompeo is a senior correspondent at Vanity Fair and an author. His first book “Blood And Ink: The Scandalous Jazz Age Double Murder That Hooked America on True Crime” was a New York Times Book Review Best True Crime pick of 2022. He’s also written for The New Yorker, New York Magazine, and many other publications. He's also a longtime super-fan and admirer of the early L.A. punk scene. In this episode, Joe and hostess Pleasant Gehman discuss the murder of Jane King, an aspiring actress who fell prey to The Hillside Stranglers. Because Jane was dating Rick Wilder of The Berlin Brats and Mau Maus, she frequented The Masque, Hollywood’s infamous underground punk club. Like the Black Dahlia, who became more famous after death than in life, Jane’s tragic death is also the subject of an article Joe wrote for the 30th Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue titled “Death And The Masque”.
