Can you imagine what it would have been like to follow Jesus (literally) as He moved in crowds of people?  In Matthew chapter 9, we get a wonderful glimpse into the mission and ministry of Jesus. The entire chapter is a wonderful window into the heart in Jesus. He wants us to believe in Him. It seems there’s a lot to be worried about in the world right now. How can we teach our children to be at peace in a world full of panic and fear?  The answer is both simple and profound. One of the themes of my life has been learning how to publicly proclaim my faith.  My women’s conference, “Faith that Speaks'' reaches thousands of women every year with one goal in mind: to stir their faith to action.  Do we love the Lord? If so, our faith should never be silent, our faith should be a faith that speaks. “Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord." Do you remember the very first time you help your child in your arms? Do you remember the weight of responsibility and the incredible love that you felt? Of course you do. I remember feeling overwhelmed at the thought that the hospital staff would let me take home a brand new, 9 pound human being. I mean, let’s be honest… I didn’t know what I was doing! Truly, I was just making it up as I went along. Come to think of it, I’m still doing that in many respects. Most of my seven children are grown now. They are getting married and having children of their own… and I find I am navigating yet another season of motherhood that I will confess to feeling unprepared for. Motherhood is humbling in every stage and in every season. The challenge I am facing now is how to let my children leave.  I will never forget the season when Barack Obama was running for president of the United States. My hunch is that you will never forget it either… his slogan is still with us today. “Hope and change.” It worked, of course. After all, who doesn’t want hope and change? We are a people in dire need of hope!  Here’s the thing though, mom: we need to tell our children the truth about hope. Hope isn’t something that we manufacture. It isn’t something we can get from a politician or even a pastor. We don’t have hope because of a policy or a medical procedure.
