Ep 92 - "Hit With a Grateful Stick" ft. Evan L.

Welcome Back to Episode 92 of the Hell Has an Exit Podcast. On this Episode Bryan Brings us longtime Friend, Evan to share his story.  From the time Evan was 14 or 15 years old he started abusing drugs and alcohol. He spent his formative years in schools for troubled kids. Evan mastered the art of manipulation by a very early age, later in his recovery he realized that much of his manipulation was because of his codependency which impacted the root of how he learned to process emotions from a young age.  All Evan knew for the longest time was jails and institutions while tiptoeing around death. After countless rehabs & numerous incarcerations - Evan reached a specific point of desperation where he was able to look at himself in the mirror and say “OK, this is just not working for me anymore.” For the first time in his life, he humbled himself and let God take control. He was released from jail with a restored sense of gratitude and began his journey into recovery with the help of his higher power and the 12-step program.  Don’t miss this thought-provoking story of trial and error, & deep self-reflection. Ep 86 “A Little Bit of Human Contact” ft. Abraham D.

On today’s Episode Bryan invites longtime friend Abraham D. to share his story. The two met in the rooms when Bryan was a newcomer and Abraham had about a year clean. Abraham spent most of his formative years in Peru & Colombia before moving to the United States at 38 years old. As a child, Abraham remembers recalls always feeling a deep sense of loneliness and not belonging. He mostly kept to himself and immersed himself in books.  The first time Abraham tried cocaine something inside him immediately shifted. Not only was he able to talk to a girl that same night, but he realized that with a substance he could escape his thoughts and be whoever he wanted to be. Cocaine turned into a crack habit and his love for women turned into an empty pursuit of companionship through escorts. Eventually he ended up coming to the US speaking no English, and went from being a professional with a secretary, to washing cars making enough for his next fix.  At first it felt like he would remain down the same path, but he found much more than drugs. He also found meetings, human connection, and a deep sense of humility and gratitude within himself. He eventually realized he could start over again & that he could free himself from the constraints of the south American societal pressures and become whoever he wanted to be.  Don’t miss this inspiring story of Abraham D. on this week’s Hell Has An Exit🎬Watch Video Episode on Youtube: https://youtu.be/D99mj3nuLUk🔗Check us out at: https://hellhasanexitpod.com/Follow on Instagram & Twitter☑Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hellhasanexit/?hl=en☑Twitter: https://twitter.com/HellHasAnExit☑Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hellhasanexit/☑TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hellhasanexit❤‍🩹Get the support you need from our trusted addiction treatment provider: https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/?data_traffic=POD-EP-DES-URP (https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/)👉🏻Call Now: (877)-706-0625🆘Support is Available 24/ Learn more about your ad choices.
