EP 34: Hell Has an Entrance: PART 1 ft. Bryan Alzate
Welcome to episode 34 of Hell Has an Exit Podcast with Bryan Alzate. This episode is Part 1 of 4 of the “Hell Has an Entrance” special, where host - Bryan Alzate, begins to share his own personal story.Bryan grew up in good neighborhood with plenty of friends. On paper, his environment seemingly provided everything a kid could ever need to flourish and have a healthy and normal upbringing. For many reasons though, he always felt different. Through the years, Bryan has had the ability to do some deep self-reflecting, he’s gone back and worked through some of his earliest memories, childhood experiences and traumas. It’s through this, that Bryan has come believe that he may have very well been born an addict. By 9, Bryan smoked for the very first time with the new punk rock kid that had just moved in next door. He realized how quickly he could make friends through smoking weed with just about anyone. From that day forward, it became clear to Bryan that drugs would be his way to acceptance. Being the little brother, it wasn’t unusual for his older brother to reject him, (as siblings often do growing up) but when Bryan offered to smoke them out - he was instantly accepted and became part of the group. He was no longer “the annoying little brother”, he was cool now. Bryan decided that having weed on him at all times was the answer to fitting in. It became the social lubricant that would open the door to any social group and make him the cool kid in any crowd.By the time Bryan was 13 or 14 he was already dealing weed, experimenting with cocaine, and had been arrested for the first time. In an attempt to keep Bryan from continuing down the wrong path, his parents shipped him off to Military school freshman year of highschool. They could have never imagined that this would be the beginning of an even more intense downward spiral. Bryan quickly became the known cocaine dealer at his new school. Every day, he dove deeper into his cocaine and drug addiction, taking it on as his main motivation in life and making drugs his defining characteristic. In a turning point of events, Bryan’s buddy took him to a “crack house” for the first time so that he could sell more cocaine. Bryan’s eyes were opened to a whole new world. Within a few months, he would take his first hit of crack - Bryan describes it his own words as being “love at first toke”. By the time he was 17, Bryan found himself spending most of his time at crack houses addicted to heavy drugs… The host of our show found out from a very early age that Hell Has an Entrance, walking miles in these footsteps, he was able to experience the absolute hell that is “addiction”. It is through these experiences that he not only brings us the Hell Has an Exit Podcast, but is also able to deliver us the message of HOPE. Through his devotion to recovery, Bryan has had a direct impact on the lives of hundreds of addicts - helping them get clean through sharing his story, through United Recovery Project - the addiction treatment center he co-founded, through sponsorship, or through his dedication to the Hell Has an Exit Podcast.🎬Watch Video Episode on Youtube: https://youtu.be/ctBvhS6mknU🔗Check us out at: https://hellhasanexitpod.com/Follow on Instagram & Twitter☑Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hellhasanexit/?hl=en☑Twitter: https://twitter.com/HellHasAnExit☑Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hellhasanexit/☑TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hellhasanexit❤🩹Get the support you need from our trusted addiction treatment provider: https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/?data_traffic=POD-EP-DES-URP (https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/)👉🏻Call Now: (877)-706-0625🆘Support is Available 24/7 Learn more about your ad choices. EP 31: The Breathmaker and the Recovery of a Damaged Spirt ft. Janice B.
Janice, a full blooded seminole Indian, kicks her story off by sharing what It was like growing up in multiple “Tourist Traps” all across Florida. In the 60’s, Indian families would have staged villages built that would resemble real Indian villages. They made money by living in them day in and day out all while tourists would come and interact with them as if they were still living off the land as their ancestors did. While they constantly moved from one tourist trap to another, there were many occasions where they would find themselves homeless. Janice’s father was an alcoholic, and where they ended up, always depended on how bad his drinking got. It’s easy to imagine how this lifestyle didn’t exactly provide a whole lot of stability for Janice, her sister, and two brothers. Janice recalls feeling like her childhood innocence was completely stripped from her, as early as the age of 6. Between her alcoholic father, being homeless and moving around all the time, and her parents always fighting - fear quickly became her most familiar emotion. By the age of 12, Janice had been sexually molested for years, by more than one person. It was right around the time when the sexual abuse began, that Janice remembers going numb. Before ever getting the chance to understand that she was a victim, the sexual and emotional trauma had already began to deeply consume her. It wouldn’t be long before Janice began acting out in school, using drugs, and eventually getting to a place so dark that taking her own life seemed like the only option. After stealing her stepfather’s gun, Janice had made up her mind. Nobody, not even Janice, could have been prepared for what happened next. As fate would have it, it wasn’t her life that she would be taking that night. One year later, Janice was tried as an adult for the murder of a convenient store clerk.Listen to episode Thirty-One to hear how, after 26 years of being in and out of prison, Janice’s story becomes an unbelievable journey to redemption. Janice shares how she was finally able to get clean, and how the 12 step program has helped her become the incredible person that she is today. EP 30: This One’s For You Mom; A Homeless Junkie Becomes Vape Kingpin ft. Keith F.
Welcome to episode Thirty of Hell Has an Exit Podcast with Bryan Alzate. On today’s episode, Bryan sits down Keith F. Bryan recalls the day over 13 years ago, when Keith first walked into the rooms. He had nothing but a trash bag thrown over his shoulder, and the desperate desire to get clean. This week’s episode is an incredible story of resilience, hard lessons, and success. As Keith dives right into his early years, we quickly learn about the rough start that set the rocky foundation for what his life would be in the years to come. Keith was born to an 18-year-old drug addicted mother who became pregnant with him while prostituting. As circumstances would have it, he would never come to meet or know who his father was. Three short months after being born, his mother gave him up to his grandmother. Despite being given up, Keith would remain in contact with his mother throughout his life. He recalls things like visiting his mother in prison at 12 years old and bringing her the drugs that her friends had strapped in his “tighty whities” on parent/child visiting days. There was also the time she told him that Santa would be arrested for breaking and entering if he ever stepped foot in their house. From a very early age, Keith started hustling. He did everything he could to find ways to make money. With his mother constantly in and out of prison, he wanted to be able to provide whatever he could for him and his grandmother. The two moved often in attempts to start a new life, but that never really panned out the way they envisioned. Despite all the difficulties, Keith did everything he could to try and stay on a straight and narrow path, but as fate would have it, the life his mother introduced him to, would suck him in. Eventually Keith turned to drug dealing. His plan was to sell drugs so that his own mother wouldn’t have to hit up the streets looking for drugs any longer. He would sell the drugs and then provide her with whatever he had left over. While the plan worked, it wasn’t long before Keith would shoot up for the first time. It would be more than 20 years, multiple jail, and prison sentences, living under a bridge, and finding out he had a daughter; before he would hit rock bottom. There’s a few defining moments Keith highlight’s that finally led him to seek out the program and get clean. Listen to the full episode to find out how the 12 step program helped a man go from living under a bridge to becoming a multi-millionaire, known as the Vape Juice God, who has created one of the biggest vape businesses in the world.
