The metaverse encompasses a whole host of technologies, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and open world social games, all of which will likely increasingly be powered by AI in some form. But what are the major use cases for the average person and how will they be onboarded into this new future? Our guest to help answer this question is the ace Charles Stanton, Chief Marketing Officer at FORJ, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, who sit between creators and brands and metaverse platforms, helping bring them into this new world. It's been a few months since we caught up with all things Decentraland, one of the most well known web3 virtual worlds. They recently put out their 2023 manifesto, titled ‘Year of the Creators’, which is a great read for the roadmap, some of major upcoming events and what they are focussed on this year (linked below) We also talk about Metaverse Fashion Week, which is from 28th-31st March and a very fun project called the Pedigree Fosterverse - where users can foster a virtual dog on their land in Decentraland. The virtual dogs correspond to real life dogs that needs fostering in the real world. Visitors who come across these dogs can chat to them and even go through the process of adopting them in real life, very cool. In many ways the metaverse is not new. The gaming industry is the biggest entertainment industry on the planet and has been successfully creating virtual worlds and empowering users to create things for decades.  'Mods' in games (user modifications) have spun off into some of the biggest games in the world (Counterstrike was originally a mod of Half Life) and have helped extend the life of other games such as GTA (probably the most successful series ever).
