In E054, Jenn and Michael Richter talk about what it's like to be a real estate investing family. While Jenn and Michael look like they're perfectly in-sync with the benefits of real estate investing, this wasn't always the case. Michael was the enthusiastic one and Jenn saw it as risky initially. They had to work together to overcome their differences in feelings on the matter and are no a strong and supporting team. Their discussion of how they overcame their differences was particularly interesting and different from anything ever covered on this podcast and I found it extremely valuable. While Jenn and Michael started investing in new construction units in Guelp and Milton before finding their current methodology, they now use the BRRRR model of investing in the Hamilton area focusing on converting legal secondary suites. In E051, Mark Loeffler gives a compelling interview on how to win at a large scale in not only real estate, but entrepreneurship in general. Mark is the published author of two very well estatblished Canadian real estate investing books and Mark is constantly finding success in his ventures. It was a real treat for me to interview Mark because not only am I keenly interested in multifamily real estate, but Mark was an inspiration to me since I read his first book back in 2011. We really dug into the weeds on this episode to break down how and why multifamily deals work and what the bank thinks of them. Anyone thinking about graduating and taking their real estate investing game to the next level needs to listen to this episode. She bought a building for approximately $1,000,000, added $1,000,0000 in renovations and carrying costs and received an appraisal for $3,800,000, therefore creating 1.8 million in wealth. They're in the process of refinancing it to pull all of their money back out and then some!
