In E064, Mac Cunningham discusses his approach to joint ventures in the Vanier area of Ottawa Ontario. Mac lays out his plan for learning as well as growing his portfolio with a long term outlook. Mac is in HVAC by trade which makes him an ideal working partner in a joint venture realtionship. Following my discussion with Mac I presented a 25 minute dialogue on my thoughts on the current economic situation and outlook. If you've been following the podcast you'll probably be familiar with some of this discussion but I figured I'd do a summary discussion to put it all into one package. In the talk I covered basic economics and human psychology that leads to economic contraction. I also spoke of economic easing and stimulus, fiat and gold-backed currencies and how fractional reserve lending works. This is by no means an in depth discussion but merely a 'basics' lesson to help in your level of understanding. In E062, Brittany Arnason discusses her hard working, DIY approach to real estate investing. She buys cheap, does the work for cheap, makes here houses beautiful and then rents them out. By applying this model Britt has been able to acquire 13 units in total and many of her properties don't even have mortgages on them. In E061, Austin Yeh discusses his fast track to 13 properties in 18 months as an aggressive BRRRR real estate investor who also works full time. Austin's spirit and tenacity are admirable and he's showing just how much progress a real estate investor can make if no excuses are being made. In our discussion, Austin and I discussed the parameters of joint ventures and some of the concerns with soliciting them. We also discussed how mistakes can happen when you move quickly and some of Austin's experiences. In E054, Jenn and Michael Richter talk about what it's like to be a real estate investing family. While Jenn and Michael look like they're perfectly in-sync with the benefits of real estate investing, this wasn't always the case. Michael was the enthusiastic one and Jenn saw it as risky initially. They had to work together to overcome their differences in feelings on the matter and are no a strong and supporting team. Their discussion of how they overcame their differences was particularly interesting and different from anything ever covered on this podcast and I found it extremely valuable. While Jenn and Michael started investing in new construction units in Guelp and Milton before finding their current methodology, they now use the BRRRR model of investing in the Hamilton area focusing on converting legal secondary suites. In E053 Carlo Sorrenti discusses his journey to $20,000,000 in real estate holdings. Carlo is a student rental investor and operator and continues to self manage his portfolio of high-end assets at market-setting rental rates. Whenever someone says something 'can't' be done Carlo just seems to laugh. Very few people demonstrably proceed with the confidence and swagger Carlo does and it's always been inspiring to watch for me over the 10 years I have known him.
