How to Read the Bible: Jeremiah

In this episode of How to Read the Bible, Nate Claiborne and Joshua Kessler discuss the book of Jeremiah. While many of the big themes are similar to other prophetic books like Isaiah and Ezekiel, Jeremiah introduces the idea of a new covenant, gives us more insight into the life of a prophet, and begins developing the theme of spiritual adultery to shock Israel into repentance and returning to the covenant. For other resources, the chapter on Jeremiah in A Biblical-Theological Introduction to the Old Testament: The Gospel Promised is helpful for understanding the structure and themes of the book. An accessible commentary on Christopher Wright's volume in the Bible Speaks Today series. As always, we like to recommend the visual layout of the Bible Project's video on Jeremiah: https://youtu.be/RSK36cHbrk0
