Why is NCSC?

Nate Claiborne and Jonathan Duckett continue a mini-series on the objectives and aims of NewCity's Student Community (NCSC).  In this episode, they discuss some of the philosophy of ministry that goes into NCSC. It is intentionally more like a large community group than a church service. Because of that, it is not geared toward coming to passively observe or consume. Rather, it is an invitation to know and to be known by other students, as well as adult leader who are deeply invested in coming alongside parents in the mission of discipleship.

How to Read the Bible: 2 Corinthians Resources

In this episode of How to Read the Bible, Nate Claiborne gives some advice on resources for navigating 2 Corinthians. When making sense of a book of the Bible, it is best to start by reading different translations, then consulting either a study Bible or a Bible commentary. The latter come in different shapes and sizes and depending on how many questions you have, you may need more than 1 commentary on a particular book of the Bible.A new type of resource mentioned in this episode is a single volume New Testament introduction. These types of resources give overviews of each book of the Old or New Testament (or entire Bible). They are very useful for big picture overviews and general introductory matters. The resource Nate mentions in this episode (and will come back to in future episodes) is Reading the New Testament as Christian Scripture by Jonathan Pennington and Constantine Campbell. Other resources that might be helpful:ESV Study BibleCSB Study BibleNIV Study BiblePaul For Everyone: 2 Corinthians by N.
