The Sanderlanche Podcast

Wax finds a dead body and then has a little chat with god. So, you know, not a particularly eventful couple of chapters or anything. The crew is really getting drawn into the story now that our apparent villain is coming into focus. Though the name "Bleeder" doesn't exactly wow them. What is this kandra planning, and why does it seem to involve Wax? Find out in this book (one would hope), but certainly not in this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Joe missed this one, but you'll find a little addition from him spliced awkwardly into the beginning of the episode. Are my editing skills absolutely par or what? ... Sub you say? Huh. Alright then. Anyway, Jaymee, Dac and I try to pick up the slack by really getting into these chapters and particularly ripping apart the use of High Imperial. We get into the book proper this week, and there are mixed reactions. We're jumping right into some action which is always good, but there's also lots of setup here and no completely clear path as to what to expect next. In this episode we meet Allomancer Jak, hero of the roughs. There are ... strong feelings about him amongst the crew. There's a reveal of the dark, terrible secret behind the existence of the Koloss (they're people; the secret is they're people, shocking, I know). We also get another wacky Wax/Lessie adventure. Just reading the prologue with no other context leads to some interesting feelings and expectations for this new book. Hear all about it on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

We have reached the end of The Alloy of Law! This week we get to hear what the crew thinks of the wrap-up on this one. Did it live up to the first trilogy's legacy? We finally solve the mystery of the Vanishers and how they ... you know, vanish things. That's a verb, right? Anyway, also there's another big firefight. Wax shoots and blows up some guys. Wayne beats them up. Even Marasi gets in on the action. With only one more episode left in this book, though, the real fun is hearing what the crew thinks will happen to manage to wrap this story up by the end. This week we meet Ranette, who is an interesting character, if not quite what some of the crew had been hoping for. And then Wax has a plan. We're rapidly approaching the end of the book now, but exactly what that end will look like is still shrouded in mystery for our newbies. Some great theories this week, though. Is Mr. Suit not human? Is Miles an old friend in disguise? Is Marasi still the secret bad guy? Who knows? Not us on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

This week our crew gets to meet the infamous Miles Hundredlives, and then they get to see Wax fight him on top of a moving train. Also, Clamps appears. I can't stress enough how much we all love that there's a guy called Clamps in this book. Hear the myriad Futurama references that inevitably follow on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

This week there's a couple of attempted murders, which, let's be honest, is kind of a step back from all the actual killing in the previous episode. On top of that, we get some very emotional backstory on Wayne, which has each of our crew feeling like actual feelings for this wacky, off-the-wall sidekick. THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!! - FBI Special Agent Paul Smecker So, yeah, that sums up the first chapter pretty well. And then there's a nice little chat about chemistry and human nature, just for a change of pace. Kind of whiplashy couple of chapters for our crew, but they came through them ok.
