Should We Observe the Sabbath Laws (Exodus 31.12-18)
Send us a textThis podacst is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonShould We Observe the Sabbath Laws (Exodus 31.12-18)Welcome to this episode of our podcast, where we will be exploring the topic of observing the Sabbath laws based on Exodus 31:12-18. This passage raises important questions about whether believers in Jesus Christ should continue to observe the Sabbath maybe even worshiping on Saturdays instead of Sundays. In Exodus 31, Moses is on Mount Sinai receiving instructions from the Lord. The passage begins by emphasizing the significance of the Sabbath as a sign between God and the people of Israel. It symbolizes their unique relationship with Him and their separation from other nations. Observing the Sabbath was considered crucial to Israel's spirituality, and failure to do so could result in severe consequences, including death. The Sabbath, along with other covenants in the Bible, serves as a sign of God's covenant relationship with His people. The Noahic covenant had the sign of the rainbow, the Abrahamic covenant had circumcision, and the Mosaic covenant had the Sabbath. The New Covenant, which believers in Jesus Christ are under, is marked by the sign of the Lord's Supper or communion. So, should believers in Jesus Christ observe the Sabbath? The New Testament provides insight into this question. In Romans 14:5-6, Paul encourages believers to honour the day they consider holy to the Lord, recognizing that some may observe certain days while others do not. Furthermore, the apostle Paul emphasizes in Colossians 2:16-17 that the Sabbath was a shadow of things to come, and the substance is found in Christ.Ultimately, the Sabbath carries deep symbolic and historical significance, but it is important to understand its fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus brought a new covenant, and believers are called to rest in Him and find their Sabbath rest in His finished work.As we explore this topic further, we will consider the implications in light of the New Covenant and the teachings of Jesus and the early church. Understanding the true essence of the Sabbath will help us navigate how we honour and worship God in our lives today.Join us on this journey as we dive deeper into the biblical principles surrounding the observance of the Sabbath and how it applies to our faith and daily lives.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

How to Serve God with you Gifts and Talents. (Exodus 31:1-11)
Send us a textThis podacst is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonEpisode Notes: How to Serve God with Your Gifts and Talents (Exodus 31:1-11)Welcome to another episode of our podcast, where we explore the teachings of the Bible and their relevance to our lives. In today's episode, we will discuss the topic of serving the Lord with our gifts and talents, focusing on Exodus 31:1-11. Often, when we think about serving the Lord, we associate it with individuals who possess special spiritual gifts like teaching, preaching, or evangelism. However, this passage sheds light on the talents and gifts necessary to serve the Lord effectively.Todays passage and study will hopefully demonstrates that the filling of the Holy Spirit was a sovereign act of God for a specific service in the Old Testament but in the examples of John the Baptist, Elizabeth, and Zacharias in the Gospel of Luke illustrate this connection between the filling of the Spirit and prophetic utterances. In the Book of Acts, the crowd on the day of Pentecost and Peter are also mentioned as being filled with the Spirit, leading to the proclamation of God's message. To serve the Lord effectively, we need two things: a basic talent or natural ability and the filling of the Holy Spirit. While spiritual gifts, as described in the New Testament, are supernatural abilities for spiritual functions, talents are ordinary skills that can be empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve the Lord. Our occupations and talents can be utilized in service to God when they contribute to the well-being of others or society.Serving the Lord with our gifts and talents is not limited to those with extraordinary spiritual abilities. God calls individuals with various natural talents and skills to fulfil His purposes. By aligning our talents with God's will and seeking the filling of the Holy Spirit, we can effectively serve the Lord and impact others through our work.Remember, whatever you do, do it heartily as unto the Lord. In today's episode, we will explore the passage in Exodus 29:1-37, which focuses on the consecration and daily offerings of the priests. Although this passage is originally addressed to a specific group of people, it still carries important lessons for us today. To provide some context, this passage describes the ordination ceremony for the priests, and it emphasizes the significance of their consecration. God's detailed instructions and the recording of this ceremony by Moses indicate its importance for Israel and its instructional value for us.The chapter can be divided into three parts: preparation, procedure, and provisions. Firstly, let's delve into the preparation phase outlined in verses 1-9. The second part, the procedure, begins in verse 10 and extends to verse 28. The final part of the chapter, verses 29-37, addresses the provisions for the priests. These provisions solidified their status as the chosen line of priests, with the priesthood being a perpetual statute for Aaron and his descendants.Through this passage, we can draw valuable lessons. Firstly, the significance of consecration and dedication to God's service is highlighted. The meticulous attention to detail in this ceremony emphasizes the importance of being set apart for God's work. Secondly, the various offerings represent the need for cleansing from sin and the commitment to live a life devoted to God. Lastly, the consecration of the priests demonstrates the need for wholehearted commitment in every aspect of our lives, such as hearing God's word, performing acts of service, and living in obedience to His commands. As we reflect on this passage, we can apply these principles to our lives. Just as the priests were consecrated and dedicated to their service, we are called to consecrate ourselves to God and commit.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

Preparing your Garden for the Lord. (Exodus 27: 1-19)
Send us a textHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday and download a free PDF version of this Book at | PatreonWelcome to the episode "Preparing Your Garden for the Lord" based on Exodus 27:1-19. In this episode, we delve into the intricate details of building the tabernacle and its surrounding courtyard, as described in the Bible. Just as one would carefully plan and design a house, considering every aspect, God, in His divine wisdom, began by designing the furniture for His dwelling place on Earth. The episode starts by highlighting that, unlike modern gardens, the area around the ancient tabernacle was more like a simple yard. God first designed the furniture for the tabernacle, including the Ark of the Covenant, the showbread table, and a large candelabra. Then He provided instructions for the placement of the furniture in the holy places. Following this, God gave the blueprints for the tabernacle structure itself, which sat at the back of the open courtyard area. The focus then shifts to the yard around the tabernacle. The courtyard's purpose was to separate the sacred space of the tabernacle from the outside world. The courtyard's dimensions and design provided privacy and a sense of awe for the worshippers. Only a small portion of the courtyard was occupied by the tabernacle itself, emphasizing the significance of the space around it.The episode concludes by drawing connections between the Old Testament tabernacle and its courtyard and the teachings of the New Testament. In the Book of Hebrews, the author argues that Christianity is superior to Judaism, as it offers a better way to approach God through Jesus Christ as the ultimate priest and sacrifice. The application of the tabernacle and courtyard in the New Testament context emphasizes the importance of recognizing Jesus' sacrifice for salvation and entering into the presence of God through Him.This episode highlights the meticulous planning and design involved in creating the tabernacle and its courtyard, while also exploring the deeper spiritual meaning behind these structures. By understanding the symbolism and significance of these elements, we can gain insight into our own relationship with God and the importance of sacrifice and faith in our spiritual journey.I trust you find it insightful and encouraging.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

In this episode, we will examine the detailed blueprints provided by God to Moses. While these instructions may appear difficult to apply or understand at first glance, we will seek insights and lessons from this passage. We believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for our spiritual growth and understanding. I believe as we study these elements, we will discover hidden gems of inspiration and gain a deeper understanding of God's instructions. The episode highlights that while some aspects of this passage may remain mysterious or unclear, it is essential to remember that the mysterious things belong to God (Deuteronomy 29:29). However to gain an accurate insight we can turn to the New Testament, specifically Hebrews chapter 9. The writer of Hebrews references the earthly sanctuary and the Tabernacle, providing additional perspectives on the significance of these structures and their relationship to the new covenant in Christ.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com
