How to Be Blessed Every Day (Exodus 39: 1-43)

Send us a textHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonThis podcast is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comWelcome to the latest episode of our podcast, titled "How to Be Blessed Every Day." In this episode, we will explore the concept of being blessed and how we can experience blessings in our daily lives. We will draw insights from Exodus 39:1-43, specifically focusing on the construction of the Tabernacle and the priestly garments described in the passage.Have you ever been told to "Have a blessed day"? While we appreciate the sentiment behind these words, it begs the question of what it truly means to have a blessed day. Can someone else ensure that we have a blessed day? And if so, what do we need to do to attain it?In Exodus 39, we find a detailed account of the construction of the Tabernacle and the priestly garments. Interestingly, much of the information presented in this chapter is a repetition of what was previously given in earlier chapters. It emphasizes the meticulous implementation of the instructions previously provided by God to Moses. The passage begins by describing the garments made for the ministry and the holy garments for Aaron, the high priest.  While the physical garments served a specific purpose for the priests in the Old Testament, we can draw a parallel to our lives today. As believers, we are called to stand out in the world, not through physical attire, but through our attitudes and actions. Colossians 3:8-14 provides guidance on the spiritual clothing we should "put on." Instead of external garments, we are encouraged to cultivate qualities such as kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, forgiveness, and above all, love. These attributes make us distinct and enable us to shine as lights in a dark world. One key aspect to note is the principle of replacement found throughout the New Testament. It is not enough to simply stop engaging in negative behaviors; we are called to replace them with positive virtues. This concept of taking off and putting on is vital for spiritual growth.Furthermore, Philippians 2:14-15 highlights another way we can stand out in the world. It urges us to refrain from complaining and disputing, offering a counter-cultural approach. By embodying a spirit of contentment and peace, we differentiate ourselves from the prevailing negativity and become sources of light and hope.Returning to Exodus 39, we witness the completion of the Tabernacle and the presentation of the finished work to Moses. Throughout the chapter, it repeatedly emphasizes that the children of Israel did all the work according to the commands of the Lord. This obedience and adherence to God's instructions earned them the blessing and praise of Moses.Likewise, to experience blessings in our lives, we must follow God's guidance and instructions. Building our lives as fitting places for God's presence involves cultivating inner qualities and aligning our character with His desires. It goes beyond externalSupport the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

In this episode, we explore Exodus 38:21-31 and delve into the significance of the Tabernacle's construction and the costs associated with it. Join us as we uncover spiritual insights and lessons we can learn from the pricing of the Tabernacle. In the opening segment, we ponder the question of how much it would cost in today's money to build the Tabernacle, considering the value of materials such as gold, silver, bronze, wood, and linen. We discover that Moses, too, was interested in this question, as he concludes the blueprint of the Tabernacle by providing the price of everything.Throughout the discussion, we draw spiritual insights from the construction of the Tabernacle. We learn that when God wants to accomplish something, He requires people and resources, both in terms of materials and finances. Just as the Israelites willingly gave their possessions for the construction, we are reminded of the importance of dedicating our possessions to the work of the Lord. Furthermore, we explore the idea that building a relationship with God also carries a cost, one of obedience and commitment to His commandments. We conclude the episode by highlighting the lavishness with which God built His house and how it reflects His ability to provide abundantly for His people. While acknowledging that some churches may spend excessively on buildings, we emphasize the importance of investing in God's house while being responsible stewards of resources. Ultimately, we emphasize that while salvation is free, building a relationship with the Lord requires dedication and obedience, which in turn leads to experiencing the extras and benefits of knowing Him intimately.Join us in this thought-provoking episode as we consider the significance of the Tabernacle's construction, the cost of building God's house, and the rewards of a deep relationship with Him. We will examine how God instructed Moses to raise funds for the construction of the Tabernacle and the importance of willing and cheerful giving.Episode Notes:Introduction:Fundraising is an essential part of building projects in churches. The question arises: How would the Lord raise funds to build a building? Exodus 35 provides insights into how God raised money for the Tabernacle.God commands the people not to work on the Sabbath, including building His house. Rest and observance of the Sabbath are essential even during the construction process. The people are instructed to give willingly and with a willing heart. The Renewal of the Promise of God (Exodus 34: 1-35)

Send us a textThis podcast is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonEpisode Notes: The Renewal of the Promise of God (Exodus 34: 1-35) See Transcript for full Scripture Text. In today's episode, we will explore Exodus chapter 34. This chapter highlights an essential spiritual truth: while sin may break our fellowship with God, it does not sever our relationship with Him. We will examine how this truth is illustrated through the story of the children of Israel in the book of Exodus. In chapter 33, we witnessed the Israelites' sin of idolatry, which led to the loss of their fellowship with God. However, Moses remained faithful and maintained an intimate relationship with the Lord. Chapter 34 reveals more about what transpired after the Israelites' sin. Despite their disobedience, God remained merciful and faithful. This sets the stage for the renewal of the covenant depicted in this chapter, emphasizing that sin does not destroy our relationship with God.The episode emphasizes God's faithfulness and willingness to renew His promises, even in the face of human failures. It also reveals important insights into God's character and the attributes we should strive to emulate. Let us remember that righteousness without love is judgmental, and love without righteousness is sentimentality. By pursuing a balance of righteousness and love, we reflect the character of God and fulfill His purposes in our lives. We hope you find this exploration of Exodus chapter 34 enlightening and encouraging. Re-establishing Fellowship With God (Exodus 33: 1-23)

Send us a textThis podacst is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonWelcome to "Re-establishing Fellowship," the latest episode of, 'The Bible Project daily Podcast'. In this episode, we explore the consequences of sin and its impact on our relationship with the Lord, focusing on Exodus 33:1-23.Sin has far-reaching consequences, affecting not only us but also those around us. When we sin, it breaks fellowship with God, disrupting our intimate connection with Him. The story in Exodus 33 vividly illustrates the aftermath of the Israelites' worship of the golden calf in Exodus 32.After the incident with the golden calf, God tells Moses to lead the people to the promised land, but He will not go with them. This marks a revision in God's original plan, where He intended to dwell among the Israelites in the tabernacle. However, due to their sin, God refuses to accompany them on their journey to Canaan. In this passage, we witness the stark contrast between the strained relationship of the Israelites with God and the close fellowship Moses enjoys. While the people lost their intimate connection with the Lord, Moses continues to commune with Him face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. This passage reveals that sin disrupts fellowship with God but does not totally sever the relationship. The Israelites lost their intimate connection with the Lord, while Moses maintained it. Fellowship with God involves speaking to Him and receiving His truth, which is now conveyed through His Word.As we conclude this episode, let us remember the words of Philippians 4:6-7: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."Thank you for joining us today, and may you seek to maintain a close relationship with the Lord, experiencing His peace and grace in your life.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

Today  we explore the famous saying, "When the cat is away, the mice will come out to play," and its relevance to a story from the Old Testament. The saying reflects the idea that when those in authority are absent, subordinates tend to indulge in unruly behavior and break the rules. We witness this principle in action in the story of the Golden Calf from Exodus. Moses had ascended Mount Sinai to receive instructions from the Lord, leaving the Israelites waiting for his return.Impatient and uncertain of Moses' fate, the Israelites decided to take matters into their own hands. They approached Aaron, Moses' brother and one of the leaders of Israel, with a request to make gods to go before them. Aaron, surprisingly, agreed to their request and fashioned a golden calf from the people's earrings. The Israelites then engaged in sacrificial offerings, feasting, and revelry, signifying their departure from the true worship of God. Aaron's actions mimicked the covenant affirmation ceremonies conducted by Moses, but they were contrary to God's will. The calf represented the Lord on their terms, allowing them to worship according to their desires.God, observing the Israelites' idolatry and their departure from His commandments, expressed His anger. He told Moses that he intended to consume them in His wrath. But Moses pleaded with the Lord, presenting three arguments: the people were God's chosen ones, destroying them would tarnish God's reputation, and it would violate God's promise to multiply the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In response to Moses' intercession, God relented and changed His mind, sparing the Israelites from destruction. This showcases the flexibility within God's plan and the impact of prayer and repentance on His decisions.Join us tomorrow for the continuation of this story in Part 2 of "The Golden Calf," where we delve deeper into the consequences and lessons from this event.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com
