148 How You Give Reveals Who You Are

What does giving have to do with leadership and your business, you ask? Giving is part of a compelling message because… Giving reveals your values, as a human being and a business owner.  Giving deepens your mission. It sets an example and helps you step into your leadership. Giving creates connection. When you give back to people and groups that resonate with your audience, it helps your audience feel seen and valued by you, particularly for marginalized groups. Yet, it’s easy in all the struggle to make money as biz owners to shift into an anxious, grasping energy – WITHOUT even knowing it. Even for big-hearted women who got into this work to do GOOD. (Myself included.) Listen in. I talk about: Why giving allows you to sell and serve from a soulful place Three powerful ways to give in your business as a Messenger How to lean back into generous energy (and re-open your channel to receive) when you’ve been stressed about getting clients  Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? Take the quiz. I lead Messenger Masterminds for women coaches ready to feel solid in their messaging so they can call in their people and next level of impact. Invite-Only. Only 6 spots. 146 REPLAY 5 Steps to Copy that Moves Your People to Sign Up

Have you ever spent hours writing an email invite or sign up page and then released your baby into the world… and gotten crickets? It can feel so FRUSTRATING and discouraging.  This year, in addition to my beloved Messenger Masterminds, I’ve taken on copywriting projects for women whose missions I really believe in. I’ve noticed there are certain intentions I set to move people to action.  It’s about: Them feeling seen. What I’m saying feeling relevant to  them. Them resonating with what I’m saying. Them feeling like what I’m talking about is important and urgent. ...And so they sign up or click to the next step. In episode 146 of Unforgettable, I break down: The top reasons your copy may not be landing for your people The vital difference between copy and messaging (this will change your whole perspective on marketing) What you can do to write copy that moves your people to sign up for your thing Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? Take the quiz. I lead Messenger Masterminds for women coaches ready to feel solid in their messaging so they can call in their people and next level of impact. Intimate + Invite-Only + Intensive. Enrolling for January and April. Only 6 spots in our next cohort. Follow me on Instagram for behind-the-scenes and deeper stories around this conversation. 145 [Hotseat] How to Lead By Example & Be Relatable, Not Preachy

Ever had people think you’re so lucky for the body/health/marriage/lifestyle you work hard for? Kristen is another smart, big-hearted woman coach in the fall round of my quarterly Messenger Mastermind. (Enrolling now for January & April.) She wants to inspire allied healthcare professionals who are burned out to take intentional action in their lives. But as a mom and healthcare practitioner herself, it can feel like she’s not in the club if she’s not stressed out or chooses not to eat the donut. “You’re so healthy. You have it all together. You have so much willpower.” They think because she’s on the other side of it, she doesn’t understand. They don’t think they can do what she’s done. So they don’t listen. Her question: “How do I lead by example without sounding preachy?” My advice? Listen in. Kristen & I talk about: How to go deeper than “hey I did this and so can you” when your people are stuck thinking they can’t get to where you are Why before they’re going to hear all your solutions, your people need to feel like you actually understand the problem How to “show not tell” with your personal story to help someone go from “that’s easy for healthy people” to being empowered to make changes The power of deep empathy for your people  How to create a foundation of understanding and find THE moment with the most resonance in your story Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? Take the quiz. I lead Messenger Masterminds for women coaches ready to feel solid in their messaging so they can call in their people and next level of impact. Intimate + Invite-Only + Intensive. 143 [Hotseat] How Do I Get More Followers + Engagement on Instagram?

Does it ever feel like a struggle to grow your audience? It can be so frustrating when you have such beautiful, impactful things to share.  The smart, passionate, Sensitive Soul April is one of the core group in my Messenger Mastermind this fall. Before she joined us, she did my Message Clarity Challenge and applied for a hotseat with me. This was April’s question: “What do I write about on my Instagram to attract people into my world that don’t already know me?” In episode 143, you’ll hear my exact guidance and coaching so if you have this question too, you’re in luck! And what you’ll find is this is really a completely different conversation than one of getting more followers and engagement. It’s actually about stepping into your messenger-ship. Because THAT is what actually calls in your people. Listen in. [ LIBSYN 50 x 550 ] April & I talk about: What’s missing from mainstream marketing advice and why despite posting great content she wasn’t getting more followers or engagement on Instagram How to tie her nuggets of wisdom from getting out of an abusive relationship into her messaging to create deeper connection with her people… without changing her niche The correlation between her own story and who comes to her for support Where her dream of creating a volunteer organization of moms helping moms fits in the messaging for her work as a nutritionist Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? Have you ever been explaining your work and watched eyes glaze over? Or maybe you were talking to someone you knew was your ideal client and she didn’t see it.  Simple fact: if someone doesn’t understand what you do, they’re not going to pay for it.  Well, if they don’t understand the HIGH value in it, they won’t pay well for it. 141 [Hotseat] What if My Tools & Process ARE What Pull People In?

Lee is one of my beloved Messenger Masterminders who just joined our fall round, but before that, I had a chance to hotseat her during my last Message Clarity Challenge. She uses art & creativity to support her clients, and she wants to put that in her messaging because talking about it often sparks people’s interest – it speaks to them and draws them in. Especially the artistic types! But Lee is a podcast listener and has heard me talk over and over about the Tool to Problem Pivot.  She knows by heart my advice to talk about the results or problem she solves rather than the “how” or methodology. So her question was: “Should I keep my methodology out of my message?” “And if so, how do I find and connect with those people who would be like ‘oh yes I need that!’” [ LIBSYN 50 x 550 ] Lee & I talk about: Where to talk about your tools and process and where NOT to The critical piece for her to speak to when she talks about her work and to put at the forefront (and why my advice for her is different than usual) Identifying where her people are at and the first step they’re ready to take What she needs to educate her audience on in her marketing so they’re ready for her service Why I’m not a huge proponent of honing down your What Do You Do statement too far  Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? 139 [Hotseat] Identify What You Do Beyond “Make People Feel Better” with Kim Pendleton

Have you ever felt like your work could help so many different types of people and go in many different directions? If so, today’s episode is for you! Listen in. Kim Pendleton is a powerhouse at the intersection between women’s sexuality + trauma recovery who gives women sacred space to unveil their soulful, sexy side—to heal from the past, find their way home, and have more of that juiciness in their lives everyday. Her own story has themes of religious deconditioning, sexual assault and trauma, a messy divorce, and ultimately reclaiming her body. She helps her people be more in touch with their body, reconnect to their partner, have better sex. So many people need her work. It could be for divorced women, married women, for men, and many other situations and life points people are at… Consequently, narrowing down who it speaks to has felt challenging! Can you relate? This is one of the top niche struggles people come to me with. Especially Free Spirit Messenger Archetypes like Kim. In this episode, I took Kim through my process to discover what to say in her marketing that really captures her people. Tune into our exploration in honing her niche, her messaging, and her people. We talk about: Drilling down into what she actually does (besides make people “feel better”) and the places she still feels fuzzy How to find THE direction when you feel like goldilocks, trying on all the different options My process for determining what language will resonate with your people and how your story fits into your messaging Her inner voice saying do you deserve to get paid for telling the truth about this and being yourself? (And why doing that rewrites the social rules of what counts as “work”) The resistance she had early on to talking about herself in her marketing — how much to make it about you and how much about your people Deeper support from me: What’s your Messenger Archetype? Take the quiz. My Messaging Intensives are for coaches wanting to land on a clear, cohesive way to express the story of their work and their place in it.  Resources from the Episode: Kim’s website Kim’s free Guilt Detox  Pleasure is Power Facebook Group What’s your top takeaway from this episode?
