DTS - Armand from Sartory Billard

Welcome to another episode of The Defining Time Show on FifthWrist Radio. This week Anthony (@defining_time) is joined by the one and only "Chicken Man" himself Benoit (@petitesecondes). It's always nice to share the mic with a great contributor to our hobby. Now for the watch stuff, Armand is someone I have been following on IG for a few years now, always eager to see what he will come out with next. Armand is the man behind the Independent brand making real waves, Sartory Billard (@sartorybillard). We go deep into his journey to starting the brand with a friend after spending many years as a designer. Benoit, being a patriotic Frenchman, wanted to discuss the current state of the French watch industry and asked the difficult questions about what Armand's opinion of what it's missing and his ideas to move it forward and more connected. Sartory Billard is a brand that offers bespoke options to their customers, so we learnt about Armand's definition of bespoke and what it means for his customers. What we loved about our chat was the openness, honesty and transparency Armand gave us, and it was no surprise to me that he asks his customers for brutally honest feedback on how his creations can be improved. We were privileged to see the SB5 during the video call prior to its launch which was a great honour for us and you can hear our reactions and then head over to @sartorybillard to see it for yourself, it is truly something very special and we commend Armand for his latest piece.  Grab a whiskey if that's your thing, put on a tuxedo, sit in your most comfortable chair and journey with us to a conversation with a brilliant and forward-thinking Independent Watchmaker.    Recommendations from this episode:   Armand: @philippe_narbel_watchmaking Benoit: @semperadhuc Anthony: @th3m3tim3 Follow Armand on Instagram @SartoryBillard Music by @salil808    Follow us on Instagram: @FifthWrist    Thank you for all the positive reviews & comments on our episodes. We read and appreciate each one!  To join our crew group chat then please email us at contact@fifthwrist.com and if you have time please leave us a review wherever you listen to our podcast.    We hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed making it! Cheers from Down Under and Way Up There, Benoit & Anthony.

The European Gang Talks Watches

Five enthusiasts from four countries, three(and a half) languages, two currencies and one passion. A couple of eager european guys from the global and glorious fifthwrist-family meet to talk watches. The subject from which they deviate all the time is: can non-european watches be any good? If you listen to what Phil, Benoît, Wolfgang, Claus and their guest from Cologne, Jan (@pippy, @petitsecondes, @w_a_t_c_h_s_t_y_l_e, @tapir_ffm and @between_the_lugs) have to say, you will – amongst others – learn: > that you can successfully run a great and vivid podcast about vintage watches without knowing much about them > why the parallax error is important > which new useless complication will be ruling the watch market anytime soon > the difference between Brian and Boris Johnson and … > serious watch stuff, too (And they eventually manage to earn an «explicit»-labelling for that podcast.) Show notes: 00:00 - Intro 01:18 - Wrist, drink and location checks 11:10 - What makes a Swiss/American/Chinese watch a Swiss/American/Chinese watch? 19:15 - The new Citizen 0200 29:00 - Watch Focus: the Colibrica Design Indicator 48:25 - Discussions on Seiko, on vintage watches and vintage Seikos … 1:22:10 - Choose a non-european watch for 10k (spoiler: the Mars-watch wins) 1:37:30 - The Rant (Brexit edition) 1:45:10 - Instagram recommendations 2:08:30 - Outro Instagram recommendations: @huggywatches @fabioattanasio @hiro_510 @lar5erik @martltime @ewandalton Shoutouts: @mikeinfrankfurt @colibrica_design @beyond.the.dial Theme music: DIY by @tapir_ffm based on the aria «Ebben? DTS - With Danny Goldsmith from Cellini Jewelers

Welcome to another episode of The Defining Time Show on FifthWrist Radio. This week Anthony (@defining_time) is flying solo and so excited to talk one on one with a legend of the AD world, Mr Danny Goldsmith (@dannygoldsmith23) of Cellini Jewelers in New York City. While always a fan of watches it's only been in the last three years that he has been making dreams come true for watch enthusiasts the world over. Danny is different, he has a real and actual passion for helping people with their watch purchases. He lives and breathes the stuff like I've known no other AD Salesperson to do. Many of our "friends of the show" (actual people we've had on FWR) are no stranger to Danny, friends would be an understatement and I think it's relationships like this that make this hobby just that little bit more special. I ask Danny a series of questions that I've always wanted to ask him. Having personally not had great dealings with AD's, it was paramount for me to get to the bottom of how he differentiates himself from the rest and we discuss what other AD's need to do to lift the customer experience. Danny talk's about some of his own experiences with other AD's as well as sharing some great stories about his personal interactions with our favourite characters from the Indy world.  I really enjoyed this conversation, Danny is a true gentleman and a great sport. I'd like to personally thank him for his time and openness. At the end of the conversation I say that "the world needs more Danny Goldsmith's", I'm sure you'll agree after listening.  Grab a whiskey if that's your thing, put on a tuxedo, sit in your most comfortable chair and journey with me to a conversation with a gentleman.   Recommendations from this episode:  Danny: @nils.o.t Anthony: @horology_michael Follow Danny on Instagram @dannygoldsmith23 Music by @salil808   Follow us on Instagram: @FifthWrist   Thank you for all the positive reviews & comments on our episodes.
