Episode 304: Meditation, Healing & Trauma. Lynn Fraser
My guest this week is Lynn Fraser. Lynn’s story involves overcoming PTSD acquired when she was punched off of her bicycle by a mentally ill stranger as she rode to work one morning. Since that experience and the unfolding of her healing journey, she’s become an anchor to support people’s journeys as they begin to live from their own innate wisdom and basic goodness. Lynn learned that those of us with difficult childhoods are more likely to develop PTSD and it is this that inspires her own deeper healing, that of her clients, and the reason she wrote her book, Friends With Your Mind: How to Stop Torturing Yourself With Your Thoughts (Breathe, Relax, Heal) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0995865213/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wescoatrapro-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=0995865213&linkId=4d5712816b5bfc7b0d4dddc2763ec2b2).Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.You can learn more about what I do here:The Trauma Therapist Newsletter: celebrates the people and voices in the mental health profession. Episode 303: The Business of Therapy with John Clarke
I rarely dedicate podcast episodes to business stuff. There are plenty of other podcasts out there that specialize in that. Nevertheless, I decided to change that for this episode and invite John Clarke on the podcast. John is a licensed therapist, business coach, and wordsmith for therapists who helps therapists fill the empty slots on their calendars and overcome their fears of digital marketing. He’s learned a lot of things the hard way in multiple practices from the ground up in highly competitive regions of the country, and started writing about those lessons at PrivatePracticeWorkshop.com (http://privatepracticeworkshop.com/). Today, John owns a thriving private pay group practice in Charlotte, NC and is the founder of Unconditional Media, the digital marketing team for therapists in private practice nationwide.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.You can learn more about what I do here:The Trauma Therapist Newsletter: celebrates the people and voices in the mental health profession. Episode 297: Zen & Healing Trauma. Joseph Bobrow
Joseph Bobrow is a Zen Roshi, psychoanalyst, and author, who has long been integrating Buddhist practice with depth psychology to create relational settings in which individual and collective anguish can be transformed. Most recently he developed reintegration retreats that helped thousands of veterans, their families, and their caregivers transform the traumas of war and find peace. Joseph and his team at Coming Home Project (http://www.cominghomeproject.net/), a service of Deep Streams Zen Institute (http://deepstreams.org/) dedicated to alleviating debilitating trauma, discovered a process called Turning Ghosts into Ancestors; published research (http://cominghomeproject.net/about#research) demonstrates how it facilitates post-traumatic growth. Coming Home Project now offers consultation and training to create optimal environments for healing, learning, and individual and social change. Joseph tells the story of his integrative work and its contemporary applications to building peace in Waking Up From War: A Better Way Home For Veterans And Nations (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1634310322/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wescoatrapro-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=1634310322&linkId=cfcb357be51447a981a2d13d634f6af4), with a Foreword by His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
