Cathleen Toomey speaks my gerontology language. She isn't a gerontologist, but she knows a lot about the aging process and has worked with a lot of older adults. A lot more than me. She understands how our experiences through our lifecourse impact our health and longevity. And today we talk about something you may never have thought could kill you early…loneliness. We also talk about a lot of other things that impact the aging process that we don't normally cover in the biohacking world, but are just as important, if not more. Cathleen Toomey reached out to share her podcast Seniority Authority and when I browsed through the titles and watched her TedX talk "The Secret to Successful Aging", I was convinced we needed to talk. Cathleen is in charge of marketing and sales of the RiverWoods Group communities. This is an independent living community for active people where she has been working for the last fourteen years and where she has engaged with and observed older adults, their issues, concerns and passions. 100. Unexplained Weight Gain in Midlife, Uric Acid & The Truth On Agave - Dr Richard Johnson

Dr. Richard Johnson is back for more! Today we talk about unexplained weight gain, the fat switch, uric acid, the truth on agave and so much more. Some of you have already read his first book, "The Fat Switch", which he published in 2012 and now our honored guest Dr. Richard Johnson has another book out called "Nature Wants Us to Be Fat: The Surprising Science Behind Why We Gain Weight and How We Can Prevent--and Reverse--It" which was released last February 2022. I was blown away with his first book and I am really excited to talk with him about his new book, because he has some exciting new information from his research to share with us. Dr. Richard Johnson works at the University of Colorado in Denver as a Professor of Medicine. He's been keeping super busy these last 25 years not only as a professor, but also both a practicing physician AND clinical scientist. He studies…nothing else, but our favorite drug…sugar. He is super well known in the medical circles for his research into obesity and diabetes. He found out exactly HOW sugar causes obesity and how our bodies can actually make fructose from other foods. He also found out that a by-product of fructose metabolism called uric acid plays a huge role in metabolic syndrome. The National Institute of Health has been funding his research since the 80s, so he's been doing this for…quite.. a while. He's a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and has published over, get this, 700 papers, lectured in over 45 countries, and is a highly cited scientist. Just Pubmed him. You'll be blown away. So I think we are speaking with someone who is highly highly qualified to talk about this topic. 98. Brand New Supplement Solutions for Women in Midlife - Dr. Sandra Kaufmann

Today's guest is one of my favorite….and based on your feedback from our first interview on brain health, your favorite too. Dr. Sandy Kaufmann is THE coolest expert on anti-aging and someone who just "gets us" women who are over 50. Because she is one of us. She doesn't accept ageist stereotypes and is carving out her own path to aging. She literally wrote the book on it, called the Kaufmann Protocol – Why We Age and How To Stop it.
