It took TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR episodes to cover one of my favourite games of all-time. Simply inexcusable. But we're trying to right that wrong this week by showing some love to a game that launched not only a franchise, but a console. I would never watch him, because frankly, I didn't think it was a cool thing to do. But when he got Advance Wars, I'd peak over his shoulder every now and then and think "that looks really fun". I just never asked to play it because I couldn't show weakness. I'm sure you understand.  I finally played it on my Switch, thanks to the Re-Boot Camp remasters, and holy fuck, I should have played this a long time ago. Is it the deepest, most challenging tactical game ever made? Not even close. But sometimes simple is a good thing. This game's fun, charming, and addictive. Well, at least games from Super Metroid onward. I tried the original Metroid on the NES last year and respected what it did, but thought it was a little frustrating for my tastes. Fast forward a year later, and Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Game Boy is on the hot seat after overcoming all comers in our Patreon Poll. Some seem to love it, some find it a little confusing. I definitely fund myself in the second category.
