Blank Ranks Vol. 1 - My Top 10 Marvel Superheroes

Apologies everyone, a last minute delay in this week's RTG had me scrambling for a fill-in. Every second Friday over on Patreon, I drop an episode of Blank Ranks, where I do an arbitrary list of something random. The first episode went live a couple months ago and I counted down my 10 favourite Marvel Superheroes, and here it is for free for the internet to listen to and argue about. RTG will be back next week!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #342 - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

So follow us! Twitter: @MemberTheGameInstagram: @MemberTheGameTwitch.tv/MemberTheGameYoutube.com/RememberTheGameFacebook.com/RememberTheGamePodcastTikTok.com/@MemberTheGameAnd if you want access to hundreds of bonus (ad-free) podcasts, along with multiple new shows EVERY WEEK, consider showing us some love over at Patreon. Subscriptions start at just $3/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year!Patreon.com/RememberTheGameGotta tell ya, I didn't know Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was so popular. I played it for the first time the month and thought I liked it enough, but some of you worship it like Special K!If you never played it back in '99, Soul Reaver is a little Zelda-ish. Some action, some puzzle solving, a dash of metroidvania. You play as a dude that got killed and is brought back for revenge, and you regularly swap between the physical and spirit realms to solve puzzles and kick ass. It's a little cryptic and confusing at times, and it definitely has a PSOne camera, but I liked it.My buddy Daniel just finished his first run through Soul Reaver as well, so he gave me an early morning call to talk about it. We both gave it decent scores, but I feel like we were a little harder on it than I expected it be. Have a listen and see what you think, why dontcha? And before we Reav some Souls, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if there's any gaming franchises out there that have never fucked up? What's an average day in the world of Adam Blank like? And would I ever do another episode where I'm playing the game while we review it?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 PSOne adventure games: Tomb Raider, Parasite Eve, and Dino Crisis.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Expansion Pass #242 - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Spoiler-Free Review

I had to skip RTG this week due to recording conflicts with my guests and summer holidays, but fortunately we have HUNDREDS or bonus podcasts on our Patreon to pull from to make sure you still get your fix. This episode originally aired for our Patreons back in February, and it's my spoiler-free review of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I did tack a short spoiler-cast on at the end, but I'll warn you about 10 times and play music before it starts, so you're safe to listen either way. Enjoy the freebie and we'll be back next week!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #341 - Kirby's Dream Land 2

Are you on social media? Of course you are. Subscriptions start at just $3/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year!Patreon.com/RememberTheGameI've really warmed up to Kirby over the years. As a kid I found Dream Land too easy and it scarred me, but as I've gotten older I've grown to appreciate the simplicity that is a Kirby game. And while it isn't his best work, Kirby's Dream Land 2 is a beautiful walk through a puke-green park.Dream Land 2 takes everything the OG Dream Land game did and makes it better. Animal sidekicks with more power abilities. Way more levels. Save files. Optional collectibles. This game isn't making my top 10 of all-time list or anything, but for a Game Boy game, it's pretty damned ambitious. Our resident Game Boy junkie, Patrick, is my guest this week. While we both agreed that Dream Land 2 did a lot to build on the base of the first game, we found ourselves ranking the two in different orders. Honestly, I think we were both a little harder on this game than we intended to be, but we righted through ship with some solid scores at the end.And before we start swallowing, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks which Simpsons character would best fit in with Super Smash Bros? Someone asks how I feel about another popular "gaming" channel. And what's with my horrible @memberthegame social media handle?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Kirby classics: Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, and Kirby 64.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #340 - Super Mario 3D Land

Are you on social media? Of course you are. Subscriptions start at just $3/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year!Patreon.com/RememberTheGameI've been a card-carrying member of the 'Mario Fan Boy' club for over 30 years now, and I know most of his games like the back of my hand. But Super Mario 3D Land is one that slips through my memory cracks a lot, and dare I say, for a Mario game I think it's actually a little underrated...It doesn't really do anything new or special, but it's a rock-solid 3D platformer, it brings back classic tunes and power-ups from previous Mario games, and while I think it's a little bit of a tech demo for the 3DS's 3D features, the fact remains that it's got that same level of polish most of my favourite plumber's games have.Pending RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue is my guest this week, and while he has a stronger attachment to 3D Land than I do, I think I actually like it a little more than he does. At the end of the day it's me and Mark talking about a Mario game and sprinkling in some comedy stories. After 340 episodes of this show, you know what you're getting. And before we save the Princess, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if Xbox is the new Sega?? Where do I stand on Undertale?? And what SNES games would I recommend for a 7 year old?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 handheld Mario platformers: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Mario 64 DS, and New Super Mario Bros. 2. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #339 - Bomberman 64

Bomberman is a damned retro gaming hero, and I'm ashamed that it took 339 episodes to give that little guy his flowers and show him some love. But we're righting that wrong this week with the Bomberman game I've easily spent the most time with: Bomberman 64.I've never owned a Bomberman game before, but one of my best friends in High School had this one and we played it. My God, how we played it. So many hours of blowing each there up, fighting over alliances, backstabbing, trash talking, and of course, dressing up our Bombermen. One of my all-time favourite multiplayer titles.I didn't really play the single player mode back in the day, but I've spent the past week grinding through that as well. I don't think it holds up nearly as well as the multiplayer, and it reminds me of why I hate this fucking controller so much, but it's far from the worse 64 game I've ever played.I'm rolling solo this week, and I had a great time reliving my childhood and talking Bomberman 64. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.And before we bomb, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, we talk about the sense of accomplishment that came with beating a game as a kid, and why modern games just don't seem to hit the same. What's my favourite Mario Kart World track? And do I have any advice for those looking to jump into the world of self-employment?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 N64 multiplayer heavyweights: Super Smash Bros, Goldeneye 007, and WWF No Mercy.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #338 - Contra III: The Alien Wars

Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us!  Twitter: @MemberTheGame Instagram: @MemberTheGame Twitch.tv/MemberTheGame Youtube.com/RememberTheGame Facebook.com/RememberTheGamePodcast TikTok.com/@MemberTheGame And if you want access to hundreds of bonus (ad-free) podcasts, along with multiple new shows EVERY WEEK, consider showing us some love over at Patreon. Subscriptions start at just $3/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you check out the trailer for Tyler's flick, Contamination, here: https://youtu.be/sXV4YeArtqo?si=PigYGrRBQxiqeP9q I adore the SNES and love Contra and Super C, so Contra III should be my jam. But for some reason, it's never really clicked with me. I finally spent a week grinding away at it and while I don't think it's as good as its 8-bit counterparts, I have to admit, it won me over. Contra is gaming done right. Run, shoot, jump. My love of the NES games comes from their snare drum tight controls and tough-but-fair challenge. the SNES entry improves on a lot of the aspects of Contra & Super C: better weapons, level variety, obviously the graphics. I may not like the gameplay as much as the older games, but I can't deny that it levels up in a lot of aspects. And it's still tough as fuck, which I love. My boy Tyler hops back on the show this week. Contra III is his preferred flavour of Contra, and while we may have disagreed on where the series peaked, we come together to show this game some love and talk about the good, the bad, and the bullshit (level 5) of Contra III. And before we run 'n gun, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if gaming is stuck in a remaster loop? What console still needs a mini version? And is it wrong to start your kid out with retro games instead of modern stuff? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3. great retro run 'n guns: Metal Slug 3, Gunstar Heroes, and Sunset Riders. Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #337 - Mega Man X2

Are you on social media? Of course you are. But for some reason, I never really gave the first sequel the time of day. And after almost 7 years of podcasts, it's time to right that wrong. I finally played through it and damned if it isn't almost as good as it's older brother. It's the tried and true Mega formula: take down 8 evil robots, steal their weapons, save the world, and die a lot in the process. Like X, it's got those sexy 16-bit graphics, 'Mavericks' instead of robot masters (which are all very fucking cool), and you can still find those Dr. Light chambers to power up with. I think the only thing missing from X2, in my eyes at least, is the nostalgia I have for the first game. And even then, this one holds up just fine. This a great game. My boy Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk about his favourite MM game in X2. We work through the robot masters, Zero subplot, soundtrack, weapons, and basically just spend an hour fluffing the Blue Bomber. And before we save the world, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if I think a video game crash is coming? When will I review some more NES movie games? And if I could be one weapon tool, or accessory from a video game, what would I be? (The answer speaks to my character). Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! It's a fantastic game. But Gears of War 2 managed to top it in every single way. This isn't just one of the best sequels ever, it's unquestionably one of my favourite games of all-time. The gang is back: Marcus, Dom, Baird, and of course, the Cole Train. The story picks up after the events of the first game, and while the combat remains the same, they found a way to improve on it and throw you into so many different scenarios that it never feels played out or boring. Sick story, new weapons, awesome locations, and you even run around inside a giant worm. How could anyone not love Gears 2?? The Dom to my Marcus, my buddy Tyler, returns to the show this week. I love Gears 2 for the campaign, and Tyler gushes about it as well, but also takes a dive into his love of Horde mode and the rest of the multiplayer offerings Gears 2 has to offer. This was as much fun as I've had recording an episode in a long time, and I hope we made all you Gears heads proud. And before we slice up a giant worm, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks what the coolest thing I've done as part of the show over the past 7 years has been? Are these cheap emulation devices you always see on Instagram worth your money? And Play One/Remake One/Erase One: the entire catalogs of Square-Enix, EA, and Capcom. Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 of the 360's best: Fable 2, Forza Horizon, and Lost Odyssey. Learn more about your ad choices. Expansion Pass #233 - The SNES

We skip the first Wednesday of the month to give me time to pay the games for RTG, but fortunately we have a backlog of about 1,000 podcasts on Patreon to draw from to fill in the gaps. And this week, we're turning the nostalgia knob all the way up and looking back at what is inarguably one of the greatest consoles of all-time: the Super Nintendo. Y'all know the raging clue I have for this system, and on this episode we talk about the launch, the SNES era, our favourite games, memories, and so much more. God bless the SNES.
