ASMR & Animal Rights. With WhispersRed | Ep. 28

About 7 years ago, one of my all time favorite ASMR artists, WhispersRed, also known as Emma, posted a video called "ASMR Dog Spa and Massage". And then 4 years ago, a video called "ASMR Veterinary Checkup". And in both of these videos, she's caring for a dog in a fantasy place called Whispaws. So imagine my confusion and surprise when in 2021 she announced that Whispaws was now a real place, a sanctuary for dogs located in Serbia. I was so happy to learn the news and it just increased my admiration for WhispersRed, whose love for animals shines brightly through her work.Whispaws Animal Sanctuary needs your help! Stop Cheering for Horse Racing. With Patrick Battuello & Nicole Arciello | Ep. 27

Queen Elizabeth II reigned over the United Kingdoms and the Commonwealth for 70 years, making her the second longest reigning monarch in history. She is remembered for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service, which made her a beloved and respected figure worldwide. However her legacy is not all good as she is also remembered as being a passionate supporter of horse racing, thus contributing more than anyone else to giving a cover of prestige to a horrific industry. In footage provided by The Telegraph years ago, she is seen visiting her stables and saying something quite peculiar at the sight of one of her horses: "I often wonder what goes through her head."To answer the Queen's wonderment, I have with me Patrick Betwello and Nicole Arcello. Patrick is the founder and president and Nicole the executive director of the animal rights organization Horseracing Wrongs. The organization's mission statement reads: "Horse Racing Wrongs is a non-profit committed to ending the cruel and deadly horse racing industry in the United States."Visit horseracingwrongs.org and take action now!➡️ https://horseracingwrongs.org/Shop for a Horseracing Wrongs t-shirt➡️ ttps://www.endhorseracingshop.org/shopInstagram ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.instagram.com/veganreportpodcast/)YouTube ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.youtube.com/@veganreportpodcast)

Who is Scared of the Animal Liberation Front? With Dr. Jerry Vlasak | Ep. 26

Terrorism, violent, criminal, extremist, radical, illegal. Those are the kinds of words attached to the Animal Liberation Front, a global anarchist movement fighting for animal liberation. If you listen to media outlets or governmental institutions like the FBI, the message is clear: Animal Liberation Front activists are scary, keep your distance from that dangerous crowd! In order to counteract this dominant narrative, the North American Animal Liberation Press Office was formed in 1994 and to this day the press office takes a proactive stance to communicate the actions, strategies and philosophy of the Animal Liberation Front to the public. To discuss this public relations battle, I have with me Dr. Jerry Vlasak, a press officer, an animal rights activist and board certified trauma surgeon by profession.Read the latest North American Animal Liberation Press Office article ➡️ https://animalliberationpressoffice.org/NAALPO/The A.L.F. Strikes Again: Collected Writings Of The Animal Liberation Front In North America ➡️ https://animalliberationpressoffice.org/NAALPO/merchandise/The Press Office Instagram➡️ https://www.instagram.com/animallibpressoffice/Why do you think animal rights and the vegan cause are not more appealing to a conservative audience? Would you attribute it to a failure of activists to advocate for animal rights in conservative circles? I don't really have an answer for you about conservatives being particularly problematic, other than to say a lot of socially conservative folks live in smaller communities more closely attached to animal agriculture. There is also the fundamentalist Christianity connection and the unwillingness to question ideology. That said, we used to get a lot of favorable coverage by Fox News, although they haven't expressed much interest of late.Instagram ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.instagram.com/veganreportpodcast/)

The Case for Microsanctuaries. With Jessica Wallace | Ep. 25

To begin 2024 on a good note, I wanted to share a short conversation I had on the topic of Micro Sanctuaries. Have you ever heard of the concept of a micro sanctuary? It's a relatively recent trend. Basically the idea behind it is that you don't need lots of resources or space to provide sanctuary to animals who would have otherwise been mercilessly used as commodities. It's a powerful concept and to help me learn more about it and its implications, who better than a micro sanctuary owner? So today for a special micro episode on micro sanctuaries, I have with me the amazing Jessica who is behind the Farm Micro Sanctuary.Microsanctuaries Ressource Center & Grants➡️ https://microsanctuary.org/The Farm Microsanctuary ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/lopinalong_thefarm/Instagram ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.instagram.com/veganreportpodcast/)YouTube ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.youtube.com/@veganreportpodcast)

Mink Fur: Exposing the Cruelty of Louis Vuitton, Dior, Balenciaga, etc. With Malcom Klimowicz | Ep. 24

This is how PETA denounces the horrendous exploitation of minks for making fur coats and accessories like lashes."In Australia and other countries, mink lashes have become popular. Their mink fur, that's been shaved off a mink's body, that are then glued in strains to a human's eyelashes for a fuller and thicker look. Mink lashes are often sold as 100% cruelty-free or safely collected from a free-range farm or even taken only after the minks have been brushed. Minks are the most commonly farmed fur-bearing animals in the world." To discuss this topic, I have with me Malcolm Klimovic, a professional photographer and an animal rights activist who got in legal troubles for denouncing this industryWatch the documentary "Ending Real Fur"➡️ https://www.realfurfilm.com/Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade ➡️ https://caftusa.org/The Final Nail map➡️ https://finalnail.com/Do you believe it is ethically acceptable to purchase mink fur at a second hand store? The issue of wearing second hand fur is that it promotes real fur fashion. Wearing real fur in public may encourage someone to buy a brand-new real fur clothing item. Wearing any item made from the death of an animal is also speciesist. Give that fur coat the proper burial it deserves. In addition, some retailers that are targeted by anti fur campaigns have tried stating they want to used recycled fur. But there is often no third party verification process that traces where the fur is coming from. It is used by retailers as an attempt to circumvent initiating a fur free policy.Glow by Scott Buckley | www.scottbuckley.com.auMusic promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/Creative Commons CC BY 4.0https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ tye5pt5c

Salmon, Shrimps and canned tuna are the most consumed seafood around the world. In terms of vegan alternatives, there is a variety of mock meat options in the case of beef, pigs or chickens. BY2048, a Montreal based startup offering plant-based smoked salmon, is part of that change. Join Ryan and Arthur, the founder of BY2048, in discussing mass fishing, the Future Ocean Foods initiative, going further in your vegan transition, what it takes to be an entrepreneur, and more!BY2048 website➡️ https://www.by2048.com/Future Ocean Foods ➡️ https://www.futureoceanfoods.org/Do humans eat one credit card per week? ➡️ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666911022000247Instagram ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.instagram.com/veganreportpodcast/)YouTube ➡️ @veganreportpodcast (https://www.youtube.com/@veganreportpodcast)Glow by Scott Buckley | www.scottbuckley.com.auMusic promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/Creative Commons CC BY 4.0https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ tye5pt5c
