So, Alan fed worms oxaloacetate to see if they would live longer. It worked! It’s not often you find a way to extend the lifespan of a species. [19:20] Is There Any Concern With Ascorbic Acid and Throwing Off The Copper To Iron Ratio?  One hundred fifty milligrams of ascorbic acid is not enough to do anything unless you are very, very sensitive to vitamin C.  If you drink a glass of orange juice and feel terrible, you’re probably sensitive to vitamin C. It’s very rare to be sensitive to vitamin C. If you are sensitive to vitamin C, you should not take benaGene.  [21:40] The Reason You Should Take Oxaloacetate Every Single Day  The best use of oxaloacetate is to use it every day. Oxaloacetate will help with fasting glucose levels and mood issues. When you take oxaloacetate regularly, you can reduce the amount of blood glucose swing throughout the day by 55%. About 10% of the total genes out there change when you calorie restrict. Typically, you will see genomic responses in 30 to 45 days by taking oxaloacetate.  [30:05] How Oxaloacetate Can Help With PMS and PMDD Symptoms  In the past, we thought that PMS was due to hormonal issues because it happened every month. Well, hormones do help with the timing of things. However, the actual problems seem to be linked to the brain. Women with emotional issues need more glucose in their cerebellum.  If you give them glucose, they will feel better. This is why women are reaching for chocolate and carbohydrates. Oxaloacetate converts fatty acids that circulate through your system into glucose. That way, you can make glucose at these times when you need it! During a trial, Alan saw over a 50% reduction in depression and anxiety and a 48% reduction in suicidal ideation by taking oxaloacetate.  [38:30] The Most Surprising Benefits Alan Has Seen From Oxaloacetate Alan was surprised to find that oxaloacetate extends the lifespan of worms.  As far as inflammation, Alan did some cellular work with oxaloacetate. Oxaloacetate can reduce a significant inflammation pathway in your body.  Alan’s customers have reported that oxaloacetate helped them with chronic fatigue syndrome.  Within six weeks, the average reduction in fatigue was 25 to 30%. The Secret Life of Fat is based on all this research! We think of fat as storage for calories; however, it’s so much more than that. [02:25] What Is Fat? Fat is a complex endocrine organ that has multiple functions: Storing calories. Producing leptin – which has a great effect on our brains, our bones, and multiple organs. Creating adiponectin – which has a lot of impact on where our fat is stored. [03:25] What You Need to Know About Leptin Our fat produces this hormone called leptin. It's the biggest producer of leptin in the body, and fat releases it into the bloodstream. Once leptin goes to the bloodstream, it goes to your brain; it'll tell your brain that you’re overall satisfied. Basically, the brain will know that you are good, there's enough nutrition in the world, and you are okay. Leptin will also communicate with your muscles. It tells your muscles that it's okay to expend energy because you have enough nutrition. When we start to lose fat and begin to lose weight, say 10% or more, we reduce the amount of leptin we have. So, people who've lost 10% or more of their body weight respond enormously to food. Overall, once you've lost weight, you have to eat less than someone who's at that weight normally. It is why diets don’t work! [07:15] The Role of Adiponectin Adiponectin is more or less telling fat where to go. When we have dietary fat, adiponectin will guide the fat in our bloodstream to the right parts of our body. So there's different kinds of fat, there's white fat. It's right under the skin, it's in your thighs, buttocks, arms, and it's actually the safest places to deposit fat. If you're going to have some fat, those are the places to put it. There's also visceral fat; it sits underneath the stomach wall. It is the more dangerous fat that's nestled against the internal pancreas organ. There's brown fat – it burns calories instead of storing calories. Plus, there is beige fat – it that can turn brown when we exercise. Overall, adiponectin will help guide the fat you eat and put it into the right place.  [09:20] How Exercise Can Help Adiponectin     It’s around 20 hours of jogging a week to get adequate levels of adiponectin. That is when your body will start to shift around where your fat is. High-intensity interval training will also help raise your levels of adiponectin. You have to exercise a lot before it starts to affect you. It's best to work with your diet and do some exercise. Don't rely on exercise alone! [11:10] How To Get More Brown Fat Brown fat is actually used to create heat. We have brown fat around our heart; we have it around the clavicle areas and our spines. Having brown fat around those important areas is critical. These areas need to be heated even when we don't have exposure to cold. Beige fat, which was discovered last decade, is the fat that can turn brown through exercise. The more you exercise, the more you can increase your levels of brown fat. Exposure to cold will also increase your brown fat. [13:45] Women Produce 33% More Ghrelin Than Men After Exercise Women are designed just to have more fat. There are many reasons for this: Fat produces estrogen. Fat is linked to our reproducibility. When women exercise, they have a different reaction than men. Women’s bodies produce ghrelin after exercise, and it's a hormone that's released from your stomach. If you burn off 600 calories or so, women produce 33% more ghrelin than men. There's all kinds of dieting tips for women versus men because women are different. [17:30] How Women Can Lose Body Fat Women have to be really patient, and you have to understand where you are on the spectrum of fat. Everyone has an individual fat blueprint. You have to understand your fat, and you have to be really forgiving of yourself. Another issue with women is that they have something called dichotomous thinking. [22:05] The Role Of How To Use Intermittent Fasting For Fat Loss Our growth hormone peaks at night. So, fasting during the nighttime will benefit your body because eating mitigates growth hormone levels. You want growth hormones because it’s a great way to burn fat. If you sleep adequately, you're increasing your levels of leptin, which means you're going to be a little bit more satiated the next day during fasting. [26:30] Strategies To Keep Insulin At Bay Fiber will bring down insulin. Eating higher protein diets, lower carbs, and obviously not a ton of sugar will also help keep insulin at bay. Fasting enables you to manage insulin, and it helps with insulin sensitivity. [31:35] The Role of Genetics In Fat Storage To manage your fat, you have to work harder if you're at a genetic disadvantage. Some people tend to have a much higher appetite because they have a certain variant of the FTO gene. [35:30] How Environmental Factors Affect Fat The Four P’s: Pesticides Plastics Preservatives Parabens Overall, it's important to really watch what you eat and watch what you put on your body. Think about what's really in the food that you eat! [43:45] Testing Your Fat The best way to test your fat is a CT scan. The worst part of Richard’s health was his anxiety; he wouldn’t be able to leave his house, car, or office. Richard never felt good enough to be around other people. Eventually, Richard realized that bread made his belly swell. So, he gave it up. Within 30 days of ditching bread, Richard lost 28 pounds. Starting keto has completely changed Richard’s life; luckily, every factor of his life has improved. [26:20] Cholesterol Isn’t The Enemy; In Fact, Cholesterol is Essential For Health Cholesterol is essential for life. It's imperative for cell formation, cell communication, nutrient absorption, nutrient transportation, and hormone production. The brain and the myelin sheath are made of cholesterol. Lacking cholesterol would be detrimental to your health. There is a massive miscommunication when it comes to cholesterol. LDL is proactive; it heals the body and repairs it. The two main contributing factors to heart disease are grains and seed oils. Seed oils do not help lower cholesterol. Reducing carbohydrates and seed oils is the best way to have healthy LDL. [35:00] Is Your Cholesterol Profile Damaged? Richard Explains Where Your Markers Should Be There’s a simple way to see whether your cholesterol profile is damaged. Triglycerides are one of the most significant factors; aim for less than 0.5%. HDL should be greater than 1.5. The triglyceride to HDL ratio should be below one. You’re in good shape if your cholesterol profile is around these markers. Remember, cholesterol is essential for life; every cell in the body is made of cholesterol. [39:45] You Can’t Store Fat Without Insulin From Carbohydrates, Sugars, and Seed Oils We can’t store fat without insulin. Insulin is secreted by the pancreas when we consume carbohydrates. Many people will eat carbs before going to the gym to have the energy to burn fat. However, when insulin is elevated, it tells the body to store fat. Eating carbs will make it almost impossible for us to burn fat for fuel. Insulin puts a biological lock on our fat stores and prevents them from leaving. Carbohydrates and sugars will increase insulin. Seed oils will also impact insulin; they cause insulin resistance. [42:40] The Foods You Eat Could Be Blocking Your Ability To Feel Full Leptin is a satiety hormone. It tells us that we have eaten and that we are full. Seed oils will block leptin. If you aren’t feeling full, you will consume more food. Grains are high in lectins; they cause five times more fat storage than insulin. Lectins in grains will also block leptin. [49:55] Richard Reveals A Simple Test To Tell If You’re Insulin Resistant As a world, we are insulin resistant. In fact, 95% of people are insulin resistant. Diabetes will start with food choices that began ten to fifteen years prior. There’s a simple way to test if you suffer from insulin resistance. You have insulin resistance if you have an overhang over your pants, belt, or skirt. Restrict carbohydrates, and you will see a reduction in insulin levels. However, she realized that prescriptions would treat her patients and not fix them. Because of the collateral damage from DES, Dr. Connealy has always been focusing on her health. She has had a lot of medical interventions as a result of DES. Doctors are not teaching and informing patients that what you eat matters. The single determinant of health is what is on your fork. “We need to start educating the world on how to take care of themselves.” -Dr. Connealy [10:00] The Truth About Cancer For the last five years, Dr. Connealy has asked every patient about the first thing they have done since being diagnosed with cancer. 100% of patients said they changed their eating habits. Sugar and food are addictions. Unfortunately, people don’t want to be strict with their eating program. Everyone grows up with cereal, so people tend to continue to do what we have always done. “The foundation of progress is discipline.” -Dr. Connealy The only way people make is a change is through pain. People know they are eating poorly, but they think that they can get away with it. “We are living in a nation of illness today.” -Dr. Connealy [17:05] How Long A Cancer Diagnosis Will Take Cancer starts with just one erroneous cell. The cell will begin to replicate itself. When the cancer cell becomes a tumor, that cell is ten years old. That means you had nine years of opportunity to check to see if you have cancer. With the technology that we have today, we know with a high accuracy rate if people have cancer. It is so much easier to prevent the illness from occurring. It does not necessarily take a symptom to know that you have cancer. Some people feel great and still get cancer. If you have a symptom, get checked by a conventionally trained doctor who knows modern medicine. [22:55] The Survival Rate For Chemotherapy The survival rate for chemotherapy is two percent. This statistic is for the people that don’t change any sort of lifestyle. If you change your lifestyle, there will be a different percentage. “It’s not a good idea to give bad statistics.” -Dr. Connealy We have to take everything that we know all over the world and collaborate to find the best non-toxic therapies to help every human being. [24:30] Testing To Determine Cancer Risk Connealy doesn’t assume that 25-year-olds are healthy. There are too many 25-year-olds with cancer. Check your chemistry panel. 50% of the population has a condition called fatty liver. There’s a 50% chance that the liver is elevated. Dr. Connealy is not concerned about cholesterol; it’s the least of our problems. Make sure to get a thyroid blood test. If you have low thyroid, then you are at a higher risk for cancer. A hemoglobin A1c is a reflection of your sugar over 90 days. You want your DHEA levels optimal. hCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin. This hormone can be a useful marker for women. Don’t use one indicator. Look at the big picture. [33:45] Why You Are Vitamin D Deficient   There is so much going on environmentally that we are not absorbing vitamin D. Even people who play beach volleyball in California are vitamin D deficient. There are two supplements that everyone should take: vitamin D and oils. [41:30] About The Relationship Between Cancer and Sugar Cancer cells eat sugar. A PET scan is proof that cancer cells eat sugar. Some cancers eat more sugar, while other cancers eat less. Sugar is a massive problem; it is our enemy. The key to health is not to eat sugar. When you eat sugar, you are feeding potential cancer cells. Cancer cells have many markers. Most patients already know about this relationship between cancer and sugar. However, they usually just copy the traditions that they grew up with. People need to learn to be mindful of their actions. [46:30] The Benefits of a Keto Lifestyle With Fasting Getting off sugar is the most significant benefit of a keto lifestyle. Connealy suggests that people should fast when they are overweight. The least expensive thing you can do is fast. Fasting has been around for thousands of years. After fasting, many patients will see improvements in their tumors. Calorie restriction is the only way to slow down aging. Everything you breathe, eat, and drink will go through your body. Then, your body will rest and regenerate. Any kind of fasting is a good idea. [56:45] The Problems With Emotional Conflict and EMFs The time you are created, the first seven years are critical for emotional development. Emotional trauma is the number one thing that will cause disease. None of us know how to do self-reflection. Going to therapy was the best thing that Dr. Connealy did in her entire life. She is still learning and still practicing how to be an emotionally balanced person. Everyone has something going on in their life. The best cancer treatment is not to get it in the first place. When you age, you don’t need to get heavy and sick. Most likely, you get heavy and sick because of your diet. You can have diabetes for a decade, which will be wholly reversed through a ketogenic diet.  Even atherosclerosis is reversible through diet.  [10:20] How Keto Tackles Obesity, Insulin Resistance, and Inflammation   Counting calories has been pretty much disproven. It turns out this model just doesn’t work.  Obesity is a result of chronic exposure to a high carbohydrate diet.  Carbohydrates elevate your blood sugar dramatically.  Also, obesity makes insulin resistance worse and inflammation worse. It’s a vicious cycle! Inflammation is the root cause of most cardiovascular diseases. Sugar and high carbohydrate diets are causing inflammation.  Overall, you can make your mitochondria healthier through diet and exercise. [19:05] How Does Ketosis Lower Inflammation In The Body?   Ketones are produced when you metabolize fats.  When you switch to fat metabolism, it triggers more antioxidant reactions within the cell.  Ketones will reduce the amount of fat within the cells.  High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein (hs-CRP) is the best measure of your chronic inflammation. You want that number to be low. Exercise is one of the best ways to stimulate mitophagy. Mitophagy helps remove aged and damaged mitochondria.  [32:45] How Do You Produce Glucose In Your Body Without Eating Sugar?  You need glucose in your blood. If you don’t eat carbohydrates, your liver has a mechanism called  gluconeogenesis.  Gluconeogenesis will help your liver cells create glucose through non-sugar sources. You need about a teaspoon of sugar in your blood at any time.  Gluconeogenesis will also burn an extra 250 calories a day through that process.  [43:00] Studying The Ketogenic Diet on Women With Metastatic Breast Cancer Dr. Hopper did a study on women with metastatic breast cancer. He put them on a ketogenic diet. However, women have different types of breast cancers, and they are taking various types of medications.  Dr. Hopper provides all the food for them; he knows exactly what they are eating.  Anecdotally speaking, he has seen significant improvements. The ketogenic diet had the same effect on these women as on an average healthy population. A very positive therapeutic benefit to a well-formulated ketogenic diet is concomitant treatment.  [52:00] How To Improve Your HDL Cholesterol Levels  You want less LDL and more HDL.  Three things improve HDL: Exercise Alcohol Saturated Fats There's no relationship between saturated fat in the diet and cardiovascular disease. In reality, it has much more to do with how much sugar is in your diet. If your LDL is too high, a physician will recommend putting you on a statin. Time-restricted eating is not a diet. It’s not about what you eat. Instead, it’s all about when you eat.  Amanda loves intermittent fasting because it’s flexible. You don’t have to fast every single day.  Lastly, fasting is free, and it doesn’t cost you any money!  [18:00] Fasting Before Bed: Tips To Stop Your Late Night Eating Habits  Drink herbal tea in the evening. Non-caloric beverages are also okay to drink before bed. You can also adjust your eating window.  If you prefer to eat more in the evening, then eat less in the morning.  Start with a 12 hour fast, then ease your way into a 16 hour fast.  [20:20] We Eat Way Too Much! Eat Until You’re Full and Lose Weight For some reason, people want to graze all day long. The reason you are eating all day long is that you’re not eating to fullness.  You can eat 700 calories during one meal and still lose weight.  People are scared of calories, fats, and carbs. At mealtimes, we are significantly undereating, which leads to more snacking.  Sadly, people are eating every hour and a half.  Finding six healthy things to eat throughout the day is impossible. Usually, the first three things you eat are healthy; then, the last three are not. Instead, we need to eat solid meals and stop snacking.  [24:30] Metabolic Inflexibility Is A Key Risk Factor For Covid-19 During Covid, the conversation should be focused on metabolic health. If we had true metabolic health, Covid wouldn’t be such an issue. 88% of Americans are metabolically inflexible and unhealthy.  We should get outside and get vitamin D. Also, Americans need quality protein, healthy fats, and to go outside and walk.  Everyone's health has deteriorated significantly. We are now way more prone to any type of disease and virus. [28:00] Why You're Not Losing Weight From Your Registered Dietician  You’re not losing weight because you are sitting all day long.  Sitting is the new smoking!  Taking a walk after a meal will result in lower blood sugar. That’s the power of activity. When we eat and lay around, our blood sugar response will be much greater.  Another reason you aren’t losing weight is that you are focusing on calories instead of macros.  Losing weight is all about blood sugar regulation. Carbs digest rapidly, so they leave you wanting more.  [40:20] Should You Avoid Carbohydrates For The Rest of Your Life?  The only right way to keto is to cycle. It’s not healthy to be in ketosis forever. If you’re fat-adapted, you will be able to curb your cravings. Plus, you’ll be able to eat carbs and still feel fine.  People need to have an understanding of what a good carb level is for them. [44:20] Do You Need Electrolyte Supplementation On A Keto Diet? Electrolytes are your missing link. There’s a huge power of sodium, potassium, and magnesium.  Without adequate hydration, you can't metabolize fat. Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Yoshi Rahm. He is a board-certified osteopathic family physician with a separate board certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine. He passed away from a seizure when he was twenty-five. [07:55] Why Disease Stats Are Not Getting Any Better In The United States  Many diseases come down to politics, poor education, and big pharma. Where is the money being spent on advertising? It’s being spent on pharmaceutical ads.  The population will split into two segments: the people who know what real health is and everyone else in the United States.  The average life expectancy has actually gone down in the past year or two.  [12:00] What You Need To Know About Methylene Blue Methylene blue has been around for a little over 100 years.  In fact, methylene blue was one of the first true medications in the United States.  The World Health Organization has methylene blue on its list of essential medications to fight parasites.  Methylene blue is excellent for the mitochondria.  Methylene blue's only real side effect is that your mouth will turn blue.  If you require mitochondria support, methylene blue is extremely useful.  [20:20] Using Methylene Blue To Benefit The Mitochondria and Help Your Body Heal   “Methylene blue is food for the mitochondria.” -Dr. Yoshi   You can have these mitochondria that die off, but you can also have half-functioning mitochondria. Eventually, he realized this would not be fulfilling.  Dr. Vega’s mom had type 2 diabetes. After studying nutrition, Dr. Vega advised his mom to eat fewer carbs and more fats.  After four months, his mom was able to reverse her type 2 diabetes. Eventually, Dr. Vega started a service where he trained people three times a week at the gym and would explain what lifestyle changes his clients should pursue.  Dr. Vega doesn’t only teach his clients about diet and exercise; he teaches all about mindset, self-sabotage, and the subconscious mind. [22:20] The First Key To Health Is Getting Sunlight At The Proper Time  The first key to health is sunlight. You need to expose your skin to sunlight at the proper time.  Having sunshine between 10 am and 2 pm exposes your body to ultraviolet B rays.  These rays will help your body produce vitamin D.  Vitamin D is associated with better mood, and it will help with inflammation.  Depending on your skin type, you may need between two and thirty minutes.  [27:50] Another Key To Health Is Proper Sleep Hygiene  We are designed to work during the day and recover during the night. Sadly, many people are working when they are supposed to be sleeping. Also, we have unlimited access to streaming services that keep us awake when we should be sleeping.  When you’re not sleeping at night, you will not experience the benefits of anti-inflammatory properties during sleep. All in all, the longer you can sleep, the better your body will be able to recover.  [30:15] Keys To Health: Electromagnetism and Spending Time Outside Grounding will help your body attract electrons. Put your bare feet out on the Earth. Also, remember to take off your sunglasses to benefit from having light in your eyes.  Remember to spend time outside.  When you’re outside in the early morning hours, you’ll be exposed to blue light, which will help you generate dopamine, serotonin, and melatonin.  Melatonin is the most potent antioxidant for the mitochondria. [34:00] A Key To Health: The Power of Your Thoughts and Negative Thinking  Everything that you create in the outer world, you first have to create in the inner world. Also, if you don't drink enough water, your hunger centers in the brain might be activated. When you are dehydrated, a pathway turns glucose into fructose. Eventually, it will turn into fat.  If you breathe through the nose, you activate the parasympathetic.  If you are stressed, your respiratory system immediately changes into chest breathing.  85% of people are chest breathers; this will tell your body that you are under stress.  [49:50] Keys To Health: Exercising and Stress Management  Zone two exercises are great for metabolic health and fat-burning. Stress management will help keep your glucose levels in check.  Mainstream news could be making you fat from the stress responses.  The bottom line is stress is not good if it is sustained throughout the day. We grow because of stress.
