Beyond Eden. Spouses Submitting

The meaning of Ephesians 5:22 is discovered in the matrix it is found in. Briefly, Paul turns to the relationship of married Spirit-filled believers to demonstrate how all members of the church build up one another.Christian wives submit to the teaching and admonition they receive from their Spirit-filled husbands. And reciprocally, Christian husbands submit to the teaching and admonition they receive from their Spirit-filled wives. The discussion in this Episode draws from the book Beyond Eden, Ephesians 5:15-6:9. Go Deeper  The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. Beyond Eden. Spirit-filled speaking

"Vertical submission" is NOT what Paul teaches in Ephesians 5:19 and following. He replaces that with "horizontal submission." Christ is our model. Sadly, most people have the over/under idea of vertical submission in mind as they read these verses. Paul encourages Christians to teach and admonish one another (verse 5:19a). Then they are to submit to this teaching and correction they are receiving from one another (verse 21).This is a horizontal RECIPROCAL SUBMISSION. This is how Spirit-filled believers build up one another in the body of Christ.GO DEEPER   The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. Ephesians 5-6. The Detailed Picture!

What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18b)? Paul gives a detailed teaching on this which may surprise many people (Ephesians 5:19-21 and following). Christians reciprocally teach and correct one another and then submit themselves to one another's teaching and correction. These are the linked one-another points in Ephesians 5:19a and 21. Additionally, they worship and thank their Lord and God. These points found in verses 19b and 20.This analysis of the text of Ephesians 5:15-21 is presented in the book Beyond Eden, Ephesians 5-6 by Bruce C. E. Fleming, Founder of the Tru316 Project. In this episode of The Eden Podcast Bruce and Joanne Hagemeyer use the Study Guide for Chapter Two to discuss the passage in Ephesians 5-6.Go Deeper!  The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. BEST OF Season Four! 1 Cor 11, 14 & 1 Peter 3

1 Corinthians 11:4-6 is a quotation of other people's words. Paul then refutes them.1 Corinthians 14:34-35 is another quotation of other people's words. Paul refutes them too.Paul does not restrict women from ministry or limit women in any way.In 1 Peter 3:1-7, Peter talks about unequally yoked spouses. These words apply only to spouses in that situation.A spouse is the weaker partner without Christ.Go Deeper.  The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. BEST OF Season Three! 1 Timothy 2:8-3:16

Should women teach men in church? People focus only on 1 Timothy 2:12. But wait! There's more!Verse 12 is only the second half of one long Greek sentence that starts with verse 11.Verse 12 is not the main idea of the sentence. The main idea is in verse 11. Verse 11 refers to a subgroup of women - the wayward women overseers Timothy was to correct and restore to ministry.Paul is NOT saying that women should no teach men in church. Quite the contrary! In verses 13-14 there is anachronistic use of the names Adam and Eve. And the reference to each one in reverse order. Then in verse 15a Paul refers to Eve's saving faith in the promised Child.Paul is obviously very familiar with the Hebrew text of Genesis 3:15-17. In that passage there are two singular collective singular nouns used: "offspring" and "pregnancy." Paul adds a third in 1 Timothy 2:15a with his reference to "the Childbearing."If any verse deserves our focus in 1 Timothy 2:8-3:16 the focus should be on 1 Timothy 3:1a! It is Jesus, the faithful Word, who saves and restores to ministry anyone who desires that good work!Go Deeper? Listen to Season Three of The Eden Podcast to dive deeper into the complete Section of the Letter of 1 Timothy that runs from 1:8-3:16! BEST OF Season Two! Ephesians 5:15-6:9

We must first find the limits of the well-built passage in Ephesians 5-6. Then we can notice the main parts of this long passage. And only thirdly can we look at words, phrases and verses in their appropriate places in the development of thought in the whole passage. The Book of Ephesians in chapters 4-6 is written in six major Sections. each one starting with "therefore walk." In Ephesians 5-6 the start is in verse 15 which begins with "Therefore walk ...." The next Section begins in 6:10 with the words "Therefore stand...."There is a jump, jump, high jump structure in Section 5. There are four points made in 5:15-18, and four more made in 5:19a-21. These are the first two "jump" portions. The "high jump" portion runs from 5:19-6:9 and the center or high point is located in 5:32. This is the defining idea of the entire passage. But who has pointed you to it before? Some commentators hardly mention verse 32 at all.Want to go deeper? Please listen to Season Two of The Eden Podcast. BEST OF Season One! Genesis 2-3

Have you read Chapter 1 and its Study Guide in The Book of Eden, Genesis 2-3? It is taken from this very first Episode of The Eden Podcast.Dr.Joy Fleming cleared away the translation errors contained in our modern language versions. She shows God didn't curse Eve at all. Two words God said in Line 1 of 3:16 linked her with God's words to the man and to the serpent tempter. The link to the man came in the third Hebrew word: 'itsabon, or "sorrowful-toil." This same word God spoke to the man in verse 17. When God cursed the ground because of the man, both the woman and the man would have sorrowful toil in working the cursed ground with their hands. This was a word about fieldwork. It had nothing to do with childbirth even though the wording on modern Bibles in English and other languages make it look like God was speaking to her about childbirth. The link to the serpent tempter came in the fourth Hebrew word: heron or "conception," or "pregnancy." This word referred back to verse 15 where God told the serpent tempter the "seed" or "offspring" of the woman would crush his head. God's promise of Messiah was contained in verses 15-16. (This is called the protevangelium or the first announcement of the Good News. It came as a judgment to the serpent tempter and as a promise to the woman he attacked and who had denounced him before God.)Are you encouraged by the true message of Genesis 3:16? This word needs to get out! Bible versions need to be corrected in 3:16 and related passages. Here's how you can play an important part in spreading the Tru316 Message!   The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C.
